I'm not sure what it is about black framed glasses among hipsters but half the time, they don't even have lenses and the other half, they only have plain glass in the frames. I guess those doofuses have convinced themselves that wearing glasses makes you seem smarter. That's about like thinking that walking past a library makes you seem learned.

Libs have trouble getting anything right.

This is the first paragraph in an article about Christopher Hitchens' recent demise. I don't agree with what Christopher Hitchens believes but I've read his book God is not Great. I found his assertions to be fraught with the angst of a young teenager just aching for some guidance from anybody. Somehow though, his disdain and anger have done as much to reinforce my faith in God than any other publication I've recently read.

What I find most disturbing about this first paragraph though is the first sentence wherein the author falls into the classic trap of telephone where if you hear something misquoted enough times, you feel convinced that it's the actual and original quotation.

For those who (somehow) don't know, the correct quotation is "Whatever hurts you but doesn't kill you makes you stronger." That's a big difference if you ask me.

Reviewing familiar principles and maxims in the face of mortal illness, Christopher Hitchens has found one of them increasingly ridiculous: “Whatever doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.” Oh, really? Take the case of the philosopher to whom that line is usually attributed, Friedrich Nietzsche, who lost his mind to what was probably syphilis. Or America’s homegrown philosopher Sidney Hook, who survived a stroke and wished he hadn’t. Or, indeed, the author, viciously weakened by the very medicine that is keeping him alive.

Horror as woman is stabbed to death 'by her husband' in Walmart - and the store stays OPEN as officers investigate bloody crime scene

A South Carolina man has been charged with murder in the death of his wife, who was fatally stabbed inside a Greenville County Walmart this weekend. 

But as shoppers looked on in horror, store management roped off the area for homicide investigators and continued to operate as usual. 

Avery L Blandin, 46, is accused of killing Lilia Blandin, 38, who worked at the Woodforest Bank inside the discount retail store in Berea. 

Ok, this is a sad story with a couple of hysterical parts.  The first one being this "objective jourrrrrnalist" ensures that you are HORRIFIED that Walmart stayed open.

That's right, never mind a bloody murder has taken place, the true "crime" is Walmart staying open to take care of customers and employees.  Of course, for libs, duty number one is to hate Walmart with all your being.

I guess the idiot lib self-proclaimed genius jourrrrnalist thinks everything would be better if Walmart had closed.  Yes, that would fix everything.  That cracks me up about libs ... they simply MUST "do something" (in this case, close the store) even when their actions contribute nothing, and are, in fact, harmful to other people.  The libs pretend their violent flailings actions mean something but, in reality, they don't.

This moron jourrrrrnalist wanted them to close the store -- and he grabbed himself a whole pantload of indignance over the fact they didn't.  Libs are good about being indignant, aren't they? And it never takes them long either ... let's just say you don't want to drop a hat around them. 

I'm guessing his "reasoning" (such as it is, with libs)  would be "close the store out of respect ..." but libs never take into account how much that would cost ... because cost is never, and I mean NEVER, an issue with idiots libs.  What about the employees?  They're supposed to take a pay cut?  How does THAT help anyone? 

Also, what about the other customers?  If other people came to Walmart and found the store closed, does their inconvenience somehow set things right?  Idiot.

Ok, here's the second hysterical part.  This guy, Mr Tallent, sees the stabbing and he gets involved.

Shopper Phillip Tallent told local station WYFF4 he was looking for Christmas lights

with his family when the horrifying scene unfolded, and he intervened.

Mr Tallent said "When I looked, I could see a couple of stabbing motions, and I really started to run towards the front (of the store)."

He continued: 'I seen it when (the man) was making a stomping motion at (Lilia Blandin) across her chest and neck area. I picked up the chair and I hit him.'

Heh, he must watch rasslin' on TV.

Mr Tallent said a man deputies identified as Avery Blandin ran towards the door with several witnesses failing in attempts to stop him. 

He said the man fled the scene after pulling out a second knife. 

'That's when I let him go because I already seen what he did with the first one, so I wasn't going to get involved with the next one,' Mr Tallent said. 

Well then, so much for "None shall pass," eh, Mr Tallent? Just kidding ... please note I'm not denigrating Mr Tallent here.  I think he had great courage to intervene and it's probably a smart move to get out of the way when you're in a fight with a crazed murderer and he has a knife and you don't ... you know .. but that's just me, you judge for yourself.  The funny part is the guy's honesty.  I'm guessing Mr Tallent isn't a lib.

You mean they CAN'T predict hurricanes? What a shocker.

So I was listening to Rush Limbaugh today and he mentioned something which I'm sure you'll find very interesting. Turns out the people forecasting hurricanes have said their work is in vain.

RUSH: Let's go back to June 2nd, 2003, June 2nd, 2003. This is me on this program.

RUSH ARCHIVE: These hurricane forecast guys -- who do not know what they're talking about. I mean, there is literally -- my friends, there's no way you can know how many hurricanes are gonna have, there's no way you can know other than seasonal averages how many big ones, and there's no way you can know where they're gonna hit and all that. But yet they've come out with their forecast: And this is going to be the worst hurricane season in many decades.

RUSH: Every year. Every year. First it's University of Colorado William Gray, and then NASA comes out with their forecast, and then Accuweather comes out with theirs. I mean, they all do -- and you know what? These are taken seriously. I remember one year, and this is not that long ago, one year -- it was not a hurricane forecast, it was an El Nino forecast -- some bunch put out a forecast that the Florida winter was going to be 20 degrees below normal. People from Europe and northern climates began canceling their seasonal hotel revelations because of this forecast, and the forecast was made in September, October that El Nino was gonna cause a bitterly cold south Florida winter. And it was all bogus. Well, "Two top US hurricane forecasters, revered like rock stars in Deep South hurricane country, are quitting the practice because it doesn't work. William Gray and Phil Klotzbach say a look back shows their past 20 years of forecasts had no value. The two scientists from Colorado State University will still discuss different probabilities as hurricane seasons approach -- a much more cautious approach. But the shift signals how far humans are, even with supercomputers, from truly knowing what our weather will do next."

Now, I first saw this reported in the Ottawa Citizen in Canada. These two scientists, William Gray and Phil Klotzbach, released this statement six days ago, and we just hear about it today. They release their statement on December 7th. So far, not one United States mainstream news outlet has bother to do pick up the story. Apparently the public doesn't have the need or the right to know about such things. Folks, do you know how many people went out and bought insurance policies based on these forecasts? Do you know how much money was spent to protect from upcoming hurricanes or to prepare for or to insure against or whatever? And, by the way, I like Bill Gray. I don't want to be misunderstood here. I think this takes guts to do this. I would expect next somebody in the global warming community is going to say the same thing, that their research over the last 20 years has shown that it has no value, that it is worthless, that we don't know what we're talking about. Bill Gray, to his credit, has constantly said, "Global warming has nothing to do with hurricanes. It has nothing to do with their formation, it has nothing to do with their intense, it has nothing to do with their volume, it has nothing to do with anything." But now 20 years, 20 years, they went back and looked 20 years of forecasting has been found to have zilch value. Rush's site:

The most interesting thing about this is the lack of coverage in the media.  Isn't that funny?  Yes, I figured you'd find it hysterical.  I guess they just overlooked this fact.

Condo Owners Miffed By Removal Of Virgin Mary Statue

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — The Vasko home is full of religious icons. Some of them have seasonal significance and some don’t, but all of them are inside the home for now.

“I had a Blessed Mother statue sitting out here,” Steven Vasko said.

He placed the statue just below the window of his family’s Robinson Township condominium.
“Yeah it was taken,” Vasko said. “The association – they stole it.”

He’s kind of right. The homeowners association did have someone remove the 150-pound cement statue from the spot.

The association says its common ground. No one is allowed to have anything on common ground so the statue had to go.

To get the statue back, Vasko will have to open his wallet.

“I have to pay a fine,” he said. “Would that be extortion or kidnapping? You tell me, I don’t know.”

Well, the story continues but you know enough now to wonder "what about the mysterious missing fact?"  It never surfaces.  The thing is, this hardly EVER happens.  Jourrrrrnalists hardly EVER leave out important parts of a story like this ... this is very rare indeed.  Ha ha ... The important things in life

So there was a basketball game ... oh yes, between "rivals" (Xavier vs Cincinnati.)   And, there was a "game-ending brawl" (as is so often the case with these geniuses from institutions of higher learning.)  But that isn't the important part ... the important part is the story WITHIN the story. Here's some excerpts from the article.

An ugly brawl erupted with 9.4 seconds left in the game. Benches cleared, fists flew.Xavier's senior

All-America guard Tu Holloway readily admitted afterward that he was taunting Cincinnati players and coaches in front of Cincinnati's bench, as the clock wound down.

"We're grown men over here,'' Holloway explained. "We got a whole bunch of gangsters in the locker room. Not thugs, but tough guys on the court.'' When asked why he taunted the Cincinnati bench and thus had a big hand in inciting the fracas, Holloway said he had been "disrespected.''

"This is my city,'' Holloway explained. "I'm cut from a different cloth. None of them guys on their team is like me. We got disrespected. Maybe it looked bad to you (media), but this is what I'm used to. This is where I'm from. This wasn't bad.''

Holloway is from Hempstead, on Long Island, but enjoys talking about his days playing summer-league ball in New York. 

Ok, three things ... 1 - "Rivals" .... 2 - "Where I'm from" ... 3 - "I was disrespected."

And let me say at the outset, I'm not hammering Tu Holloway here ... just the concepts I'm mentioning.  He just happened to bring them to my attention this time. I've noticed them myriad times before but never said anything.

First of all -- "Sports Rivals."

Please ... who cares.  Somehow people have convinced themselves that the only good sporting event is between "rivals."  Gotta love that mentality, don't you?  Every knucklehead with a keyboard team's public relations coordinator tries to invent new "rivalries" so they can attract more enthusiasm  make more money.  And I'm not really criticizing that ... I'm actually making fun of the dupe-niks who buy into it pointing out that it works.

So ... soon they will overdo themselves and make every single game a "rivalry."  Sort of like idiot libs who went from "save the historical landmark building" to "save the forest" to "save the oceans" to "save the planet" ... get my drift? And it's the same thing, they do it because they think it attracts attention ... and attention sells.  The big libs in charge make money while they work the lowly libs ... the lowly ones that want so desperately for people to think they're "smart." The lowly libs who will do anything (demonstrations, encampments, etc etc) for a glimmer of that recognition from their heroes.  But I digress.

Second -- "Where I'm from."

People are proud of where they're from ... that's right ... and this guy is from Long Island.  Yes, yes, I hear things like this all the time.  "Well, I'm from _____, and we don't do it that way" (with attitude) ... implying that "being from _____" somehow imbues them with ... ermmm "something."  Anyway, hey ... asshat, who cares where you're from?(Unless you have some really fantastic/obscure sandwich there ... in which case, please continue.)

Third -- "Disrespect"

The absolute worst thing in the entire world is to be "disrespected."  Did you know that?  No?  Well, you need to get up to date then because I'll bet peeps are taking advantage of your naivete and are disrespecting you left and right  ... and here you are ... totally unaffected because of your ignorance ... when all along you could have had yourself a nice healthy dose of "indignant" ... and perhaps even gotten all stabby about it.

Just remember, once you know you're supposed to be insulted, then you are aware that others know too ... and there's no way to recover without revenge ... REVENNNNNNNNGE!!!! The reason for this is your entire image is at risk ... and your image (what others think of you) is the most important thing on earth, right?

The thing is, the place(s) where this whole concept is most common is in prisons/gangs ... at least that's my perception.  Nobody with a half  a brain I know gives a damn whether someone is "disrespecting" him/her ... ESPECIALLY if the one doing all the disrespecting is an idiot.  'Course, that's just my experience, I could be wrong ... you know ... considering "where I'm from" and how people from that area are backwards, inept,  and constantly wrong about things.  Hey, you want some respect out of me?  Pay some of my bills, otherwise, pipe down, doofus.

And one last observation ... why are colleges letting idiots in? Is it worth it?  I mean, I could understand if they were doing their jobs and educating these people but they aren't.

Do you think their reputations (such as they are) are served by allowing these people in?  Do you think their reputations are already so shot it no longer matters ... because that's my thinking.  I mean, these people are being awarded college degrees. I see them everywhere in the media ... with heavy accents ... using words like "axe" for "ask" and so forth. I don't even bother to roll my eyes anymore.

The essense of the Occupy movement.

And really, of all Liberal protests.

The Occupy formula pared down to its essence:

1. Put yourself in a position to be harmed.
2. Beg/dare people/police to harm you.
3. Upload every tiny reaction to You Tube and scream brutality.
4. Repeat from step 1 while claiming America is a police state…or something.

Simple isn't the same thing as dumb.

We joke a lot on this blog about "our intellectual betters" and their remarkable ability to "understand complexity". I just read an interesting article (here) which very concisely explains the phenomenon whereby smart-seeming people do anything but act wisely.  I've always been one to contend that it's more important to watch what someone does than to listen to what they say and I suspect our regular readers would agree.

Here's an excerpt from the article. I recommend reading the whole thing.

    The main problem may be confusing simple with dumb.

    If something is simple, then dumb people will believe it. And if dumb people believe something, then soon some conclude that smart people should believe something else. There’s a flaw in that philosophy.

    Why shouldn’t you touch a hot stove? There’s no complex, smart answer to that. You’ll get roughly the same answer from Stephen Hawking that you’d get from Forrest Gump: It’s hot, and it will hurt.

    But say you were going to argue that you should touch a hot stove. That would have to be a very complex answer, since it defies basic logic. And some people could run with that, talking in detail about pain receptors and the brain’s reaction to stimulus, and come up with a very smart-sounding argument on why touching a hot stove is a great idea.

    Others will go further and mock all those ignorant people in the flyover states for their irrational fear of hot stoves and announce, “The most enlightened thing to do is to press one’s face against a hot stove.” Those people are what we call intellectuals.

    Similarly, when someone comes up with a well-reasoned argument backed by top economists that two plus two equals five, there’s no brilliant way to refute it. The only response is: “No, you’re an idiot; it’s four.” But if you say that, you’ll be called anti-smart people.

A threatening move

Of course, the cause of the shooting spree was a mystery to this journalist. A complete mystery.

My favorite comment was at the 3:00 mark where the reporter states that the police shot the gunman when he "apparently made a threatening move". Something tells me that if you're walking down the middle of the street aiming at passersby and shooting at them and hitting some of them, just about the only move that isn't threatening is to drop your gun and slowly make it crystal clear that your hands are empty and away from any possibly concealed weapons.

It's probably just a coincidence that the gunman's shouting "Allahu Akbar" was barely mentioned in the entire 4 minute report and then, only by an eyewitness. The reporter probably didn't want to jump to any conclusions because that's not what reporters do... ever.

"United Nations" my ass.  Once a noble idea, it has degenerated into people who are only interested in getting money out of the United States ... while, of course, bad mouthing the United States in every breath ... you know ... like libs spoiled teenagers do to their parents.

The libs have many, MANY doomsday scenarios ... luckily, they all can be solved by you giving up just a little bit more of your liberty and property (money.)  Well, they say a "little bit more" but somehow, it's never enough is it? 

Think about it ... we've had the "Square Deal,", the "New Deal, the "Great Society," the "War on Poverty," on and on and on ... and it costs trillions and trillions ... and what difference has it all made?  I'll tell you what difference it's made ... it's made all the politician's buddies rich.  Have you ever noticed that all these politicians have buddies and/or family members making money off all these government programs?  Yes, SOMEHOW they manage to get the grants and contracts but, inexplicably, you cannot ... isn't that funny?
