From Bits and Pieces:

Congress, doing what it does best, nothing!

Let's Sue OPEC! That'll Teach 'Em!
May 21, 2008Energy TribuneWhen it comes to energy policy, Congress goes from dumb to dumber. The latest example: a bill passed by the House of Representatives on May 20 that will allow the U.S. government to sue OPEC for conspiring to raise prices.
There are several reasons why the bill, which passed by a margin of 324 to 84, makes no sense. I’ll focus on two: reciprocity and hypocrisy.
First, reciprocity. If the U.S. can demand that foreign oil producers increase their output, what’s to stop them from demanding that we produce more of what they want? Robert Rapier, author of the R-Squared Energy blog, has made this point most succinctly. His April 29 column offers an analogy that shows just how nutty this idea is:
"Let's say Saudi Arabia loves American wood. They love it so much, that their purchases start to drive the price higher. It seems other countries love American wood as well, so supplies are tight. But Saudi [sic] feels like they have a God-given right to cheap wood. Therefore, they demand that we increase production of our wood to bring prices back down. They demand that we overproduce our resources in order to meet what they would prefer to pay, because they have grown dependent on our wood. So, they threaten to sue and take us before the world court."
Rapier, a clever Oklahoma-born chemical engineer, goes on to say that by threatening to sue OPEC, the U.S. is demanding that the oil-producing countries “produce according to the price we prefer to pay –- not necessarily what's in their own best long-term interest.”
That’s precisely the point. The U.S. has no legal right to compel foreign companies (or countries) to produce more of anything. Further, if we could somehow force the OPEC members to produce more oil, then why not sue the Dutch to make them produce more beer? I like Heineken. But I don’t like paying $1 per bottle. How about if we sue the Netherlands for under-producing Heineken?
The other problem with the House measure is its blatant hypocrisy. Congress has restricted drilling in the U.S. by making (for example) the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other areas off-limits to oil and gas exploration. Thus, the U.S. wants to protect its own environment – by preventing new oil production in America – while demanding that foreigners spend billions to drill on their lands. We’re told repeatedly that A.N.W.R. won’t make much difference in terms of new supplies. Not true. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the refuge holds about one-third of America’s oil reserves and more than half of its gas reserves.
The new House measure aimed at OPEC came just one week after a Senate vote that prevents energy companies from drilling in A.N.W.R. On May 13, by a margin of 56 to 42, the Senate blocked a measure that would have allowed oil exploration in A.N.W.R. and in areas that lie offshore the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. After the vote, Sen. Richard Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, dismissed the idea that domestic energy production will do any good, declaring, “We can’t drill our way to lower prices.”
We can’t. But if Congress can force foreign countries to drill more, lower prices are certain?
It just gets dumber and dumber.

This is just plain weird

A homeless woman who sneaked into a man’s house and lived undetected in his closet for a year was arrested in Japan after he became suspicious when food mysteriously began disappearing.

Police found the 58-year-old woman Thursday hiding in the top compartment of the man’s closet and arrested her for trespassing, police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday.

The resident of the home installed security cameras that transmitted images to his mobile phone after becoming puzzled by food disappearing from his kitchen over the past several months.

One of the cameras captured someone moving inside his home Thursday after he had left, and he called police believing it was a burglar. However, when they arrived they found the door locked and all windows closed.

“We searched the house ... checking everywhere someone could possibly hide,” Itakura said. “When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side."

The woman told police she had no place to live and first sneaked into the man’s house about a year ago when he left it unlocked.

The closet is part of a Japanese-style room, one of several rooms in his one-story house where the man lived alone — or so he had thought.

Police were investigating how she managed to go in and out of the house unnoticed, as well as details of her life inside the closet, and if she had taken anything else besides food.

She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and apparently even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman "neat and clean."

This is for you, Sharon... seems like you could use the extra help

No punishment for jackass criminal

A Palm Beach Gardens man and his mother, a middle school science teacher, are permanently barred from owning or possessing animals, a judge ruled Thursday after watching a short film of the man having sex in his bedroom with a German shepherd.

Palm Beach County Judge Frank Castor also ordered that the county be given custody of the woman's pets — two German shepherds and two cats — and ruled that she and her son, 18, jointly pay the county $1,848 in boarding costs and other fees.

The man, who was 17 at the time of the recorded activity, did not appear in court. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is not identifying him because he was a juvenile at the time of the activity.

His mother, whose residence is where the sexual activity occurred, teaches at a public school. She testified at Thursday's hearing, insisting repeatedly that she was unaware of her son's sexual acts with her male German shepherd. She said she found the behavior reprehensible and out of character for her son, whom she said is a recently graduated high school honors student. Thursday's hearing included graphic details of the man's sexual acts, including descriptions of the film that Palm Beach County sheriff's investigators found stored on his personal computer in his bedroom. Well -- four things:
1 - This shows that complete idiots can still get good grades in school and otherwise function well in society.

2 - The report leave you wondering "why were the cops going through his computer?" The "reporter" didn't even address it. I mean, he could have said "they declined to say why they were searching his computer." He could have said "I forgot to ask why they were searching his computer." Instead, he ignored it completely. Good job, dumbass.

3 - If this lady wasn't involved, why is she fighting to keep her pet-rights when she knows the kid is just going to raunch it in the fudgetunnel and film it?

4 - Why isn't this kid going to jail? No wonder criminals don't learn.

Brain-damaged nitwits are in charge

In Canada: Torontonian Tries to Board Plane at Kelowna Airport while Toting a Gun.

On Monday, Marnina Norys, a Toronto resident and PhD student studying Social Political Thought, was put through the bureaucratic and culture-of-fear rigmarole while trying to board a place in Kelowna - all because she wore a necklace with a pendant in the shape of a gun (the classic Colt45, and the actual pendant depicted in the above photo).

Hijacking a plane using a tattoo of a gun or the latest issue of Guns & Ammo magazine are just as likely scenarios.

First she was told by an agent at security that she couldn't wear it, and that the "replica" would have to go in her carry-on bag. But a second agent who was tasked with searching her carry-on bag found the gun pendant and told her that although harmless (and against all common sense) her gun would have to go in her checked baggage.

Racing back to the check-in desk, concerned that she was going to miss her flight, Norys ended up just checking her whole carry-on bag (since her checked luggage was already long gone.)

There are peeps somewhere, making very stupid rules. And these complete morons -- peeps with absolutely zero sense -- could not get dumber if they lost both their brain cells -- THESE are the people in charge of making sure terrorists don't board airplanes.

Seriously -- could anyone with an IQ over 25 be fooled into thinking this was a real gun?
In my opinion, these "rule makers" should be summarily fired and then everyone should laugh at them while they walk to their cars. But don't worry, they won't be fired, nor will anything at all happen to them. Why not? Because nobody, no matter how high up in government, is afraid of being fired anymore -- you know -- since peeps keep voting libs into office.

Anything but work in Congress

(Washington, DC) Today Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) called for former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to testify under oath regarding the devastating revelations made in his new book on the Bush Administration’s deliberate efforts to mislead the American people into the Iraq War. More here:

Yes -- Instead of tending to the nation's business, let's have more hearin's and testifyin'. Bush only has six more months before a new president is elected but let's harass him to the very last day -- you know -- instead of tax reform, or lifting regulations on the oil companies, or addressing illegal aliens. Good thinking, Dumbocrat.

Come to think of it, at least if they're consecrating on this, they're not stealing our freedom. Pathetic though, isn't it?

A couple of really good slams

I'm better than you -- you're NOTHING!

You pathetic little people of the blogosphere. You're nothing more than "nitwits at home with [your] computers" who've deluded yourselves into imagining you're "part of the news media." Just ask Mike Barnicle. The former Boston Globe columnist broke the tough truth to us on today's Morning Joe. WaPo editorial writer Jonathan Capehart was "so glad" to agree.

Capehart was in full courtier mode to Mika Brzezinski, anchoring the show during Joe Scarborough's extended absence awaiting the birth of a child home in Florida. When executive producer Chris Licht read a viewer email critical of Mika, Capehart leapt to her defense, and it was then that Barnicle and he sniffed at the pretenders of the pajamahadeen. Ha ha - the libs hate Fox News

NPR war correspondent Anne Garrels spoke to students at Northwestern University recently and acknowledged the widely held belief that NPR's on the liberal end of the media spectrum that holds Fox News Channel in contempt. But in Baghdad, the two media outlets formed what Garrels called the "most unlikely of partnerships." Reported the Daily Northwestern:

Garrels, who spoke as part of the Crain Lecture Series, said NPR had been struggling with power; they received electricity from Baghdad's grid for only two hours a day.

Someone from Fox News offered to share the station's generator with NPR, which Garrels said it initially rejected.

"My boss said, 'Not on your Nelly,' " Garrels said. "But no Fox, no power and eventually saner minds prevailed. People do help each other out in Baghdad a lot."

Not on your Nelly? This would lead one to suspect the NPR boss is not an American, or perhaps spent a lot of time in London. It's described as "Cockney rhyming slang for not on your life."

Communist nirvana

HAVANA, May 27 (UPI) -- Cuban authorities broke up a meeting of dissidents last the weekend, leaving at least two people injured, opposition groups said Tuesday.

Two of those in attendance at the meeting reportedly were hurt by police and received medical treatment for their injuries. Thirty others were detained by Cuban police though later released, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday.

While Cuban authorities regularly break up meetings of political dissidents on the communist island, the use of excessive force reportedly has not happened for the last several months, as the administration of new Cuban leader Raul Castro approved several reforms and appeared more tolerant of Cuba's voices of opposition.

Yes -- but it's perfectly OK for every Hollywood celebrity with skin to visit Cuba and badmouth the US, right Castro? Badmouth, make movies, -- whatever -- it's fine. We all know what geniuses they are in political history.

THOSE dissidents you don't have a problem with. Hey, Commie-boy -- you like to arrest dissidents? It's easy to find them in America -- they don't have to hide -- they'll be kazillions of 'em at the Democrat convention in Denver. Go get their asses.

Every adult should be forced to use a 'carbon ration card' when they pay for petrol, airline tickets or household energy, MPs say.

The influential Environmental Audit Committee says a personal carbon trading scheme is the best and fairest way of cutting Britain's CO2 emissions without penalising the poor.

Under the scheme, everyone would be given an annual carbon allowance to use when buying oil, gas, electricity and flights.

Anyone who exceeds their entitlement would have to buy top-up credits from individuals who haven't used up their allowance. The amount paid would be driven by market forces and the deal done through a specialist company. More here:

This guy has it exactly right

Washington - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."

Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.

"My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity," he said.

Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.

"Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality," he said.

"In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat - this time, in the name of the planet," he added.

Klaus said a free market should be used to address environmental concerns and said he oppposed as unrealistic regulations or greenhouse gas capping systems designed to reduce the impact of climate change.

"It could be even true that we are now at a stage where mere facts, reason and truths are powerless in the face of the global warming propaganda," he said.

Klaus alleged that the global warming was being championed by scientists and other environmentalists whose careers and funding requires selling the public on global warming.

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Saskatchewan (AP) - A skydiver's hope to set a new free-fall record might have come to an end Tuesday when his ride to the sky left without him.

The helium balloon Michel Fournier was going to use to soar to the stratosphere detached from the capsule he was going to use to jump from 130,000 feet (40,000 meters).

It happened after the balloon was inflated on the ground at the airport in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. The balloon drifted away into the sky without the capsule.

Fournier appeared disappointed as left the capsule and walked to the hanger. He was hugged by members of his entourage.

The balloon was reported to have cost at least US$200,000 and Fournier was said to have already exhausted his finances. His handlers planned a media briefing. More here:

Female orgasm "mythical"

55% of Australian women
sexually dissatisfied

100% of Aussie men replied:
"Oi! That's only because they haven't been had by me!"

According to the shrinks

The survey found rates of sexual desire were similar to those shown in international studies, but Australian women appeared to have more problems with arousal and orgasm.

Whoa... since when is female sexual satisfaction tied to the mythical female orgasm? I fear they are going down a road here that will lead to heartache and chafing for everyone.

"It seems women go into the bedroom and expect it will happen quickly, automatically, with orgasm, even be multi-orgasmic..."

Seriously - ladies? Get a grip. I've bedded many women in my life, and none of them ever even talked about an orgasm, much less a "multiple" orgasm. Their concern was solely for my well being, as it should be.

Their tender words were almost always something to the effect of "what else can I do to help you achieve sweet release?".

Actually I think it was more like "are you done yet?". Same difference.

5 Vacation Planning Tips
(According To Horror Movies)
By Ned Resnikoff, Peter Hildebrand
First of all, if you have any African-American friends, you should probably bring one of them. Not more than one mind you, but at least one. This tends to make others around you more comfortable because they know you're not racist.
He'll also act as a canary in a coal mine, warning you about anything that might threaten the less expendable members of your group by being first to turn up in his tent with a knife sticking out of his neck.

Also, see if you can coerce the college slut to come with you.
Not only will she also act as a canary in a coal mine, but she's a canary that puts out! Chaste girls are not only a lot more boring, something about their intact lady bits makes them very difficult to kill.

Do you have that one guy in your group of friends who everyone hates, but who always hangs out with you anyway? Of course you do. If you don't, you're probably that friend and you don't even realize it. Tough break.

But if you're not that friend, you should make sure you bring him with you.
While these dickheads might be irritating, they can be a great source of comic relief. Plus, it'll sting a lot less when his blood gets sprayed all over the slutty girl's face.

To recap, that's one black dude, one asshole and as many slutty girls as you can fit in your shitty van. Click here for the rest of the tips.

SINNERS! - We'll cut your heads off!!

President Jammeh has seriously denounced the practice of homosexuality in the country and has given last Friday as the ultimatum for culprits to leave the country.

Speaking last Thursday at a victory celebration held at the Buffer Zone in Tallinding, President Jammeh said that a legislation“stricter than those in Iran” concerning the vice would be introduced very soon.

He maintained that The Gambia is a country of believers, noting that such sinful and immoral exploits as homosexuality would not be tolerated in this country.

He avowed that he would “cut off the head” of any homosexual caught in The Gambia. More here:

Yes -- and the Klown thinks the United States should send our military in, grab people like this, rush them out to the public square, and cut their heads off -- what do you think of THAT, jackass? Leave the punishment for sinning to God, the Republicans, and the Democrats.

They ain't the Amish

Absolute obedience is the cornerstone of the faith and is endlessly preached.

"Man actually belongs to [the] prophet, willing to do what is directed," Jeffs said in one sermon, according to a transcript. A woman, he said, should concentrate entirely on submitting to her husband, praying each morning, " 'I want to do your will, Father, through obeying my husband or my father or our prophet.' "

Control has been exerted in more practical ways as well. Until recently, the FLDS operated under a trust called the United Effort Plan. The trust ran businesses in Colorado City and adjoining Hildale, Utah. It owned all the homes, and members tithed 10% of their incomes, usually in monthly payments.

"The first question out of my mouth was, 'Why are we letting this go on? Why isn't there someone prosecuting these cases?' " Shurtleff said.

"Jeffs is a coward, a tyrant and a pedophile. The more I hear about how women are treated, the racism -- every time you think you've heard it all, you hear something new."

Shurtleff first went after the trust, working to break up the $150-million United Effort Plan. Through court action, he put it under the supervision of an outside administrator, removing eviction threats as an FLDS tool.

His office also is looking into allegations of welfare fraud. Shurtleff said 66% of Hildale residents and 78% in Colorado City received welfare, usually food stamps.

Time for "What would YOU do?"

DADE CITY — A 16-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated domestic battery after Pasco deputies said she spiked her mom's food with an ingredient that she knew could cause a severe allergic reaction.

The Times is not printing the name of the teen or her mother.

The 39-year-old mother is allergic to many foods, deputies said. Her allergies are so severe that she carries around an EpiPen, a spring-loaded auto injector of epinephrine, or adrenaline, to prevent her from going into anaphylactic shock.

The woman needed the EpiPen the night of May 7, when deputies said the teen added seasoning salt to her mother's dinner, which caused a severe allergic reaction.

The mom's reaction was so intense that she was unable to inject herself with the EpiPen, deputies said, and the teen had to do it for her. The woman did not require further treatment.

Several family members told deputies they believed the teen, who attends Pasco High School, may have spiked her mom's food more than once. They said she was angry because her mom made her do chores and recently took away her cell phone, according to the arrest report.

The teen's 11-year-old sister told deputies she saw the 16-year-old put the seasoning salt in the food, the report said. She wanted to tell their mother, but her older sister threatened to "beat her up until she was dead."

The little sister told deputies that she was afraid because her sister slaps her, pushes her around and makes her do chores.

The teen told deputies that she added the seasoning salt to the meal, knowing her mother was allergic to the ingredients. She said she did not mean to hurt her mother and she was sorry for what she had done.

She was charged and transported to the juvenile assessment center in Land O'Lakes.

Ok -- what do you do with a kid like this? You can't strike them anymore. You can't throw them out on the street. If you do either, YOU'LL be the one going to jail. You can never trust her again. She'll probably kill you with her idiotic behavior if you let her stay at home.

There isn't a lot of information here but it doesn't SEEM like the mom is a lib. She metes out punishment. The kid has to do chores around the house. Sounds like mom is doing her best.

So -- what would YOU do?

Disgusting sinners gotta pay

LOS ANGELES - California state lawmakers are considering an unusual idea to solve the state's huge budget shortfall: Tax pornography.

The idea was proposed by a state assemblyman, and would impose a 25 percent tax on the production and sales of pornographic videos -- the vast majority of which are made in southern California.

It is unknown, however, how seriously lawmakers will take the idea or how the porn business would deal with the new tax. It is likely, though, that porn-makers would simply pass the cost along to consumers by making pornographic materials more expensive. More here:

BAGHDAD -- U.S. and Iraqi military officials said Sunday that violence in Iraq has significantly decreased in recent weeks to levels not seen in four years.

That's offering some hope to officials that after recent, Iraqi-led military campaigns in Basra in the south, Sadr City in Baghdad, and Mosul in the north, Iraqi security services here may be making gains.

Oceans really heating up now

Bleached coral like this specimen are becoming more common as sea temperatures warm. Experts say carbon dioxide absorbed by oceans is adding additional stress to coral and other organisms by making the water more acidic.

Waters along North America's Pacific coast are becoming more acidic, posing a threat to marine life, federal scientists reported Friday — adding that while that fits global warming scenarios, no one had expected the acidification to happen so soon. That's because you idiots couldn't predict your way out of a wet crystal ball, jackasses.

"We did not expect to see this extent of ocean acidification until the middle to the end of the century," said study co-author Chris Sabine.

"Our results show for the first time that a large section of the North American continental shelf is impacted by ocean acidification," the experts wrote in the study published in the peer-reviewed journal Science.

"As sea temperatures warm" -- LMAO. Sure, I buy it. Baaaaa - Bleat - I mean, uh -- Taaaaaax me - Taaaaaax me.

Libertarians 95% awesome

DENVER — It's the strippers who give it away, the not-very-well-kept secret that the Libertarian Party Convention is a little different.

At the average mainstream major party convention, such things as adult entertainment are off campus, left to delegates to find themselves. At the Libertarian fest in the basement ballroom of a Denver hotel, the strip club has its own booth.

And why not? Libertarians detest the idea of the government regulating morality.

Shotgun Willies occupies prime turf in an exhibit hall booth outside the convention meeting room.

The club shares a divider with the campaign booth of presidential hopeful Bob Barr, a former congressman from Georgia who gained fame by helping press the impeachment of President Bill Clinton for lying under oath to conceal an affair.

It's just around the corner from the Marijuana Policy Project, which fights to make marijuana legal for medical use — and for nonmedical use.

And Shotgun Willies sits across from the Liberty Dollars booth, where Joby Weeks of Denver sells a nongovernment form of money that boasts, "in just eight years, the Liberty Dollar has become America's second most popular currency."
Before you can ask why it took eight years — was there another No. 2 currency ahead of it? — consider Weeks' pitch about how silver retains its value while the government's money has lost its value. (Libertarians hate the Federal Reserve.)

"An ounce of silver bought five gallons of gas in 1950, it bought five gallons of gas in 1970, and it buys five gallons of gas in 2008," says Weeks. "The price of gas hasn't gone up. The purchasing power of a dollar has gone down."

What is the Libertarian Party?

Climate change worse that we thought

Explanation: For about 300 years Jupiter's banded atmosphere has shown a remarkable feature to telescopic viewers, a large swirling storm system known as The Great Red Spot. In 2006, another red storm system appeared, actually seen to form as smaller whitish oval-shaped storms merged and then developed the curious reddish hue.

Now, Jupiter has a third red spot, again produced from a smaller whitish storm. All three are seen in this image made from data recorded on May 9 and 10 with the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2.

The spots extend above the surrounding clouds and their red color may be due to deeper material dredged up by the storms and exposed to ultraviolet light, but the exact chemical process is still unknown. For scale, the Great Red Spot has almost twice the diameter of planet Earth, making both new spots less than one Earth-diameter across.

The newest red spot is on the far left (west), along the same band of clouds as the Great Red Spot and is drifting toward it. If the motion continues, the new spot will encounter the much larger storm system in August. Jupiter's recent outbreak of red spots is likely related to large scale climate change as the gas giant planet is getting warmer near the equator.

Ha ha -- those stupid Jupiterlings -- maybe NOW they'll stop burning fossil fuels and driving big SUV's. Anyway, looks like climate change is worse than we thought and we already thought it was bad. Badder than old King Kong, meaner than a junkyard dog, has a razor in its shoe.

Mainstream media LOVES the troops

On Friday’s Fox & Friends, Fox News military analyst Colonel David Hunt rattled off a series of U.S. and Iraqi achievements, then blasted the liberal media for failing to report them. “If you talk about success in Iraq, then you’re somehow giving credit to McCain,” Hunt surmised, “and I think it’s wrong, because it does not give credit to the soldiers who have earned this, and we need to stop it.”

Hunt noted that the Iraqi military and police have become more professional and are acting independently of U.S. forces, putting down a Shiite rebellion in the southern city of Basra; that an Iraqi force is stabilizing the Sadr City portion of Baghdad and the government has achieved a truce with radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr; al-Qaeda in Iraq is badly damaged and could lose its last stronghold in Mosul; and the successful campaign against al-Qaeda in Iraq has contributed to a 40 percent decline worldwide in deaths due to terrorism.

Yet, Hunt pointed out, “if it’s not Abu Ghraib with 50 stories in the New York Times, no one in the press that I’ve heard -- besides here -- will even talk about success.” More at Newsbusters:

LMAO -- he sounds shocked!! AS IF the media will give any credit whatsoever to the military/troops. Have you EVER heard them do it? No. And you won't.

Klown's prediction: If the media doesn't completely ignore Memorial Day, they'll put up pictures of our dead heroes and lament how they gave their lives for nothing in Bush's Iraq war -- no -- they won't put it in those terms, but that will be the message, I assure you.

Perhaps Fox News will do a decent job of Memorial Day coverage but, if they do, expect the other networks to be spewing venom at them like a rattlesnake with a buck tooth. Of course, they always do that anyway.

Matt Bai, a major contributing writer for the New York Times Sunday Magazine, described John McCain's service in Vietnam in his big cover profile, "The McCain Doctrines," by suggesting that McCain's five years spent isolated in a POW camp meant he didn't learn the correct liberal lessons from the Vietnam War, resulting in his support for the Iraq War.

While the Times found Sen. John Kerry's service in Vietnam gave him credibility on his opposition to the Iraq War, McCain's five years spent isolated in a POW camp has evidently cursed him with the narrow perspective of America, right or wrong. More at Newbusters:

Yes -- Kerry? ... He's a genius ... Matt Bai? ... another genius -- meanwhile, McCain, who spent five years as a POW, he's an idiot. Excellent logic, Socrates.

Jackass cannot stop braying

As the oil executives hearings on Capitol Hill received great media attention given soaring gasoline prices, supposedly impartial press members missed a classic flipflop by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) as it pertains to the benefits of OPEC raising production quotas versus America drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

On Wednesday, Schumer once again claimed "if [Saudi Arabia] did a million barrels of oil a day increase from today, it would go down about -- the translation to gasoline would be about $.50 a gallon, maybe $.62."

Yet, on May 7, Schumer felt a likely similar increase from drilling in ANWR would "reduce the price of oil by a penny."

As Marc Sheppard over at the American Thinker cleverly pointed out Thursday, in Schumer's odd calculus, only increases in foreign oil production will bring down the price (file photo courtesy From Newsbusters:

Hey -- "Chucky Schmucky Schumer" (Mark Levin's nickname for this idiot) -- which is it? This is what I love about the libs -- always so honest and forthright -- so deserving of your trust. Yes, you can believe everything out of their mouths.

I guess he's really in trouble now, eh? Yep, I'll bet the media will be ALL OVER this -- non-stop stories commin' up. All you libs hold your breath until an objective jourrrrrrnalist brings it up.

Hey -- Schmucky -- why aren't you in jail for outright lies from your senate seat? How dumb do people have to be before they vote for you a second time? Braying jackass.

And again...

And it continues

The Worst Pain Ever Revisited

We talk about the worst pain ever. Maybe it's falling and getting hurt- badly. Maybe so badly that you can't even express your pain because of your inability to breathe. Maybe this happens while you're broadcasting on TV whilst your coworkers sit in air-conditioned comfort and express feigned concern for your well-being. MAYBE it's when someone takes this broadcast, saves it to their computer and then uploads it to the internet for all to enjoy and for YOU to suffer through REPEATEDLY for the rest of your miserable, humiliated life.

No, that's not pain, that's the beginning of pain because what comes next is worse... someone puts it to music...

As if that wasn't bad enough, someone else does an animation. Will the humiliation, THE PAIN ever end???? I pray the answer is "nay".

Happy Birthday Beaner!

She said, "If you must show a picture, make sure it's a pretty one."

Obama"s new campaign car

His car was designed the way he lays out his campaign message.
I can't figure it out maybe you can?

Did I say that?

BRANDON, SD - Another example of the power of the Drudge Report today, as a NY Post story pointing out that Clinton brought up the assassination of Robert F Kennedy in 1968 during an editorial board meeting sent reporters traveling with Clinton into a frenzy.

Asked by South Dakota newspaper the Argus Leader why she didn’t buy the argument that the party was fracturing because of the prolonged contest, Clinton said “my husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June.”

“We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California,” she continued. More here:

It’s a sacred day to all war veterans: None need to be reminded of the reason that Memorial Day must be commemorated. But what about the general public, and more important, future generations? Do most non-veterans really recognize the importance of the day honoring their fellow Americans killed in war?

Judging from what Memorial Day has become—simply another day off from work—the answer is a resounding no. Perhaps a reminder is due, then. And it is the duty of each and every veteran to relay the message.

Sacrifice is meaningless without remembrance. America’s collective consciousness demands that all citizens recall and be aware of the deaths of their fellow countrymen during wartime.

Far too often, the nation as a whole takes for granted the freedoms all Americans enjoy. Those freedoms were paid for with the lives of others few of us actually knew. That’s why they are all collectively remembered on one special day.

This should be regarded as a civic obligation. For this is a national debt that can only be truly repaid by individual Americans. By honoring the nation’s war dead, we preserve their memory and thus their service and sacrifice in the memories of future generations.

They came from all walks of life and regions of the country. But they all had one thing in common—love of and loyalty to country. This bond cemented ties between them in times of trials, allowing a diverse lot of Americans to achieve monumental ends.

We remember the loss of loved ones, a sense of loss that takes group form. In essence, America is commemorating those who made the greatest sacrifice possible—giving one’s own life on behalf of others.

Means of paying tribute vary. Pausing for a few moments of personal silence is available to everyone. Attending commemorative ceremonies is the most visible way of demonstrating remembrance: Placing flags at gravesites, marching in parades, sponsoring patriotic programs, dedicating memorials and wearing Buddy Poppies are examples.

Whether done individually or collectively, it is the thought that counts. Personal as well as public acts of remembering are the ideal. Public displays of patriotism are essential if the notion of remembering war dead is to be instilled in youth.

As America’s older war veterans fast disappear from society’s landscape, there are fewer and fewer standard-bearers left to carry the torch of remembrance. Such traditions will live on only if there is a vibrant movement to which that torch can be passed.

Now, more than in recent years, the enduring relevance of Memorial Day should be clearly evident. With two wars under way, the public has no excuse not to remember. This much is owed to the more than 4,500 Americans who have died thus far in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Wal-Mart Cake

From J-Walk's blog:

Must be some kind of Ebonics.

Reminds me of the argument for Man-made Global Warming

All the common sense to the contrary just doesn't make a dent when Libs are trying to line their own pockets while criticizing capitalism...

Mugger captured after toe licking

A mugger in America was arrested after ignoring rule number 1 of mugging: after robbing your victim, don't stop to lick their toes before making a quick getaway.
Commander Kevin Casper called the incident, in St. Paul, Minnesota, 'weird sexual behavior.'
The incident occurred when a 24-year-old woman was leaving work around 1a.m. on Saturday. The suspect, a 27-year-old man, approached her and demanded her keys and phone, according to authorities.
After that, instead of running away like you're supposed to, he took time out to remove her shoes and licked her toes.
The woman was not hurt, police said.
Police arrested the man a few minutes later about four blocks away. The woman identified the suspect, and police were able to recover her keys and phone.
The man was in custody, but it was not clear whether he had been formally charged.

Democrats - "Taking care of business"

WASHINGTON (AP) - The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed former White House adviser Karl Rove as part of its inquiry into whether the Bush administration politically meddled at the Justice Department.

Accusations of politics governing decisions at the agency led to the resignation of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

The subpoena issued Thursday orders Rove to testify before the House panel on July 10. He is expected to face questions about the White House's role in firing nine U.S. attorneys in 2006 and the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama, a Democrat.

House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers had negotiated with Rove's attorneys for more than a year over whether the former top political adviser to President Bush would testify voluntarily.

Yes -- this is all about President Bush firing some US Attorneys. Never mind that Clinton fired all of them when he took office -- it's only the REPUBLICANS who are "politically meddling."

THIS is what the Democrats in congress like to do. Never mind their specific/enumerated powers in the constitution -- you know -- like securing the border, controlling immigration, or funding the military.

A rampaging mob in western Kenya burnt 15 women accused of witchcraft to death, a local official and villagers told AFP Wednesday.

"This is unacceptable. People must not take the law into their own hands simply because they suspected someone," said Mwangi Ngunyi, the head of Nyamaiya district. "We will hunt the suspects down," he added.

The gang of about 100 people moved from house to house late Tuesday, tied up their victims and set them ablaze, the official said.

Ngunyi added that the mob also torched 50 houses in Nyakeo village, located some 300 kilometres (180 miles) northwest of the capital Nairobi.

"I can't believe my wife of many years would be killed so brutally by people who cannot prove their case even before God," said Enoch Obiero, a pastor.

"My mother has always been a role model to the entire village and why the mob had to kill her will remain a mystery to me forever," lamented 32-year-old Emily Monari.

The region, populated mainly by the Kisii tribe, has been dubbed Kenya's "sorcery belt" due to mob attacks on women suspected of witchcraft.

Efforts by the authorities to clamp down on vigilante and mob justice have been unsuccessful.

Dozens of suspected people were killed in western Kenya in the 1990s, amid allegations of sorcery.

Yep -- anytime you go looking for witches, you'll find 'em. All you have to do is point at someone and holler "WITCH" (or racist or child abuser or evil rich etc etc and on and on) and the geniuses in society know what to do.

Depicted above, the geniuses in society call for the burning of a witch. "How do they know she's a witch" you ask? Simple, the media told them.

Libs get dumber every day

His name is Matthew, he is 26 years old, and his supporters hope to take his case to the European Court of Human Rights.

But he won't be able to give evidence on his own behalf - since he is a chimpanzee. Animal rights activists led by British teacher Paula Stibbe are fighting to have Matthew legally declared a 'person' so she can be appointed as his guardian if the bankrupt animal sanctuary where he lives in Vienna is forced to close.

An anonymous businessman has offered a substantial amount to cover his care, but under Austrian law only humans are entitled to have guardians.

The country's supreme court has upheld a lower court ruling which rejected the activists' request to have a trustee appointed for Matthew.

So now 36-year-old Miss Stibbe and the Vienna-based Association Against Animal Factories have filed an appeal with the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. More here:

So -- an anonymous businessman has offered a substantial amount to cover his care -- but that's not good enough for this lib -- she wants to get him declared a person -- prolly so when she has sex with him, she doesna get in trouble.

Whew - they almost lost their honor

Reuters: The bodies of Sunita Devi (L), 21, and her partner Jasbir Singh, 22, lie on the ground after they were killed by villagers in an "honour killing" in Ballah village in the northern Indian state of Haryana May 9, 2008. Growing economic opportunities for young people and lower castes in Haryana have made "love marriages" more common, experts say, and the violent repression of them has risen in tandem as upper caste Jat men fight to hold on to power, status and property.

BALLA, India (Reuters) - Five armed men burst into the small room and courtyard at dawn, just as 21-year-old, 22-week pregnant, Sunita was drying her face on a towel.

They punched and kicked her stomach as she called out for her sleeping boyfriend "Jassa", 22-year-old Jasbir Singh, witnesses said. When he woke, both were dragged into waiting cars, driven away and strangled.

Their bodies, half-stripped, were laid out on the dirt outside Sunita's father's house for all to see, a sign that the family's "honor" had been restored by her cold-blooded murder.

A week later, the village of Balla, just a couple of hours drive from India's capital New Delhi, stands united behind the act, proud, defiant almost to a man. More here:

WTF is wrong with these people? I mean, it takes a severely retarded person to defend this type of behavior -- SEVERELY RETARDED. I don't care what your religion says -- if you don't have enough brains to figure out the difference between right and wrong then you're a dangerous mf'r.

On the other hand, if you know what you're doing is going to get you killed and you keep it up -- well -- you aren't the brightest bulb in the sign either.

Upper Caste -- Lower Caste -- honor killings -- a country with a billion peeps, most of whom appear to be dangerous morons -- What's going to happen eventually? I'll let you put it together.

Reuters: "From society's point of view, this is a very good thing," said 62-year-old farmer Balwan Arya, sitting smoking a hookah in the shade of a tree in a square with other elders from the village council or panchayat. "We have removed the blot."

Yes -- and how long until these genius "elders" think America is a "blot" that must be removed?

Hey -- where is the very useful UN? Are they busy condemning this? Are they doing a damn thing to stop this? Or are they too busy trying to find the next thing for which to condemn the United States -- the greatest economy and most generous nation on earth.

Congressional geniuses

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved legislation on Tuesday allowing the Justice Department to sue OPEC members for limiting oil supplies and working together to set crude prices, but the White House threatened to veto the measure.

The bill would subject OPEC oil producers, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela, to the same antitrust laws that U.S. companies must follow. More here:

Ha ha -- they're going to sue the dictators/commies. Good luck with that, asshats. Thanks for SQUANDERING my money, yet again. Wait, I may have spoken too soon, perhaps some of you lawyers are going to handle this suit on behalf of your country for free ... is that the call?

This is what they're doing INSTEAD of removing regulations on new refineries and INSTEAD of removing regulations on new drilling. At times, I think these people we send to congress are the most dumbassed people on earth.

Hey -- buttholes -- did it ever occur to you that they might take offense at this lawsuit? Did it ever occur to you what they might do if you REALLY piss them off? You know -- things like: Reduce the amount of oil available to the US -- or raise the price some more -- to teach you complete morons a lesson?

This is what happens when you send 400-500 lawyers to Washington. They think the answer to everything is suing. Hey, jackasses, maybe you can sue the brick-making company -- you know -- the one that made the bricks that you used to bang yourselves repeatedly in the head which caused your brain damage.

A measure of success

Your Phone Calls And Faxes Worked!

CONGRATULATIONS! You have achieved what some believed to be nearly impossible last week. The AgJOBS amnesty has been stripped from the Iraq Supplemental bill. Here's more good news: the employment-based permanent workers have been stripped from the bill too!

Great -- but what I want to know is why, after we defeat it time after time, do they continue to try to shove it down our throats? We beat it and it comes back up -- We beat it and they resurrect it -- they are not getting the message. THIS time they put it in a bill that funds our troops -- there is no depth to which they will not sink -- NONE!

Perhaps they think we'll tire of it and stop fighting them. Personally -- I CAN'T WAIT TO GET IN THE VOTING BOOTH. Both of my senators and my congressman are good on immigration (and one of them is a Democrat.) -- but the current governor isn't -- say goodbye, buttcheese.

Sciencetific jackasses

In today's "You've Got to be Kidding Me" segment, the presidential campaign is hotter than ever, and a major wire service began an article about the three candidates with the following:

Hillary Clinton is smart and forceful, John McCain is proud but has a volatile temper, and Barack Obama is a diplomat who deals well with different people and situations.

Did you get that? Let's review:

Clinton -- smart and forceful
McCain -- volatile temper
Obama -- diplomatic
See any bias here?

Baaaaa - Bleat - Science. (Yes, I know there is no such word as "Sciencetific" ... but I heard it somehwere and it seems to fit in this instance.)

Myths any idiot will buy

Every once in a while, you'll hear a statistic so striking you can hardly believe it's true -chances are it's a load of rubbish.

So, here are five of the most repeated urban myths, according to US website

1. You accidentally swallow about eight spiders a year in your sleep

Why it's not true:
Spiders have a natural instinct to stay alive and crawling into the heavy-breathing hot, wet mouths of animals goes strongly against this.

Who started it:
Back in 1993 a columnist for PC Professional named Lisa Holst decided to prove that you could make up anything on the internet and people would believe it.

She did this by making up a set of facts that were utterly ridiculous, the spider myth among them (which itself was taken from a collection of insect folklore that dates back to the 1950s, and emailing her findings around the world.

2. You Only Use 10% of Your Brain (but if you were only less lazy or stupid you could use more)

Why it's not true:
The parts of the brain are specialized, so trying to use all of it at once isn't going to make you any smarter.

That would be like trying to become a better writer by striving to use all the keys on your keyboard in every sentence.

Who started it?
A series of neurologists over the past few hundred years figured out that a human can survive when parts of the brain are removed.

Over time, this was misinterpreted to mean that the brain uses little of its potential, and thus the 10 per cent statistic was born.

3. Men think about sex every seven seconds

Why is it a load of rubbish?
If men thought about sex every seven seconds it would be hard to get anything done. Experts estimate that 30 per cent of men don't think about sex during the day at all.

There are variants of this myth but none of them are based on any actual research. After all, how would they even arrive at such a number?

Hook electrodes up to a guy's head and have him walk around for a week, counting how many times the sex lobe lights up?

Who Started It?
No-one knows

4. You Must Wait 30 Minutes After Eating Before Swimming

Why is it a load of rubbish?
Because you're not a Gremlin. As you may have already guessed, water does not, in fact, bear properties that form a cramp of death, should you get in the water after eating.

Getting into the water after eating will have no more effect on your body than going for a walk.

Who started it?
This one actually comes from an old wives tale that slowly became popular over the years. Supposedly, your stomach is using oxygen to digest food that your muscles need to swim.

In actuality, the amount of oxygen your body needs to swim is more than satisfied, whether or not you've eaten recently.

5. The suicide rate jumps at Christmas

Why is it a load of rubbish?
Actually, the suicide rate goes down significantly. Why? While it's depressing as hell to be alone on Christmas, the truth is most of us aren't.

It's just hard to commit suicide when there's people around constantly trying to get you to wear ugly sweaters.

Who started it?
In this case, no one fooled us more than ourselves.

It's what they call confirmation bias; we decide ahead of time that people should get depressed over the holidays, so when we hear somebody killed themselves over Christmas, we assume the season was the reason.
