The Commerce Department said on Thursday that U.S. gross domestic product shrank at a 0.3 percent annual rate as the sharpest pullback by consumers since 1980 overwhelmed an increase in government spending.
"This is just the beginning of contraction," said Sung Won Sohn, an economics professor at California State University, who said the fourth quarter will certainly show another decline, which would meet the traditional definition of recession, or back-to-back quarters of falling activity.
Now we're all going to pay -- dearly.
The thing that really makes me laugh is the government "bailing out" private businesses -- or, what were SUPPOSED to be private businesses. IMHO, this isn't a bailout, it's just (sort of) putting off the inevitable and making it much worse.
Never mind that the government has gotten so far away from the intentions of our founding fathers and our constitution (LIMITED GOVERNMENT.) Never mind that we lost our capitalist system long ago and have gotten worse with each successive year. That probably has nothing to do with this crisis, right libs? It's all Bush's fault, -- oh, and the greedy, big corporations, right libs?
I have been informed by an Obama supporter, that if one votes straight Democrat or Republican ticket at the polls, BEFORE you have voted for the President, your vote for President WILL NOT be counted. If you go to snopes.com, you will see that this is true and it tells you that it's a good idea to vote for each candidate individually, in any case.
I'm happy to get this info and want to pass it along, since it's already circulating among Obama supporters.
We need all our Republican votes to count, so I owe a debt of gratitude to the Democrat who 'mistakenly' sent the email my way. Thanks!
Even if you know this, others may not, so please pass it on! I think everyone's vote should count, but ONCE, only!
snopes.com: Voting a Straight Ticket
I never vote a straight ticket anyway but many peeps do.

Editor's note: Orson Scott Card is a Democrat and a newspaper columnist, and in this opinion piece he takes on both while lamenting the current state of journalism.
Note from the Klown - I have reproduced the entire article here. Warning to libs ... It's a lot of reading so go ahead and skip to the next post. You dont have a chance in hell of being able to "consecrate" long enough to read this post.
An open letter to the local daily paper — almost every local daily paper in America:
I remember reading All the President's Men and thinking: That's journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know.
This housing crisis didn't come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.
It was a direct result of the political decision, back in the late 1990s, to loosen the rules of lending so that home loans would be more accessible to poor people. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were authorized to approve risky loans.
What is a risky loan? It's a loan that the recipient is likely not to be able to repay.
The goal of this rule change was to help the poor — which especially would help members of minority groups. But how does it help these people to give them a loan that they can't repay? They get into a house, yes, but when they can't make the payments, they lose the house — along with their credit rating.
They end up worse off than before.
This was completely foreseeable and in fact many people did foresee it. One political party, in Congress and in the executive branch, tried repeatedly to tighten up the rules. The other party blocked every such attempt and tried to loosen them.
Furthermore, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were making political contributions to the very members of Congress who were allowing them to make irresponsible loans. (Though why quasi-federal agencies were allowed to do so baffles me. It's as if the Pentagon were allowed to contribute to the political campaigns of Congressmen who support increasing their budget.)
Isn't there a story here? Doesn't journalism require that you who produce our daily paper tell the truth about who brought us to a position where the only way to keep confidence in our economy was a $700 billion bailout? Aren't you supposed to follow the money and see which politicians were benefiting personally from the deregulation of mortgage lending?
I have no doubt that if these facts had pointed to the Republican Party or to John McCain as the guilty parties, you would be treating it as a vast scandal. "Housing-gate," no doubt. Or "Fannie-gate."
Instead, it was Senator Christopher Dodd and Congressman Barney Frank, both Democrats, who denied that there were any problems, who refused Bush administration requests to set up a regulatory agency to watch over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and who were still pushing for these agencies to go even further in promoting sub-prime mortgage loans almost up to the minute they failed.
As Thomas Sowell points out in a TownHall.com essay entitled "Do Facts Matter?" ( http://snipurl.com/457townhall_com] ): "Alan Greenspan warned them four years ago. So did the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President. So did Bush's Secretary of the Treasury."
These are facts. This financial crisis was completely preventable. The party that blocked any attempt to prevent it was ... the Democratic Party. The party that tried to prevent it was ... the Republican Party.
Yet when Nancy Pelosi accused the Bush administration and Republican deregulation of causing the crisis, you in the press did not hold her to account for her lie. Instead, you criticized Republicans who took offense at this lie and refused to vote for the bailout!
What? It's not the liar, but the victims of the lie who are to blame?
Now let's follow the money ... right to the presidential candidate who is the number-two recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae.
And after Freddie Raines, the CEO of Fannie Mae who made $90 million while running it into the ground, was fired for his incompetence, one presidential candidate's campaign actually consulted him for advice on housing.
If that presidential candidate had been John McCain, you would have called it a major scandal and we would be getting stories in your paper every day about how incompetent and corrupt he was.
But instead, that candidate was Barack Obama, and so you have buried this story, and when the McCain campaign dared to call Raines an "adviser" to the Obama campaign — because that campaign had sought his advice — you actually let Obama's people get away with accusing McCain of lying, merely because Raines wasn't listed as an official adviser to the Obama campaign.
You would never tolerate such weasely nit-picking from a Republican.
If you who produce our local daily paper actually had any principles, you would be pounding this story, because the prosperity of all Americans was put at risk by the foolish, short-sighted, politically selfish, and possibly corrupt actions of leading Democrats, including Obama.
If you who produce our local daily paper had any personal honor, you would find it unbearable to let the American people believe that somehow Republicans were to blame for this crisis.
There are precedents. Even though President Bush and his administration never said that Iraq sponsored or was linked to 9/11, you could not stand the fact that Americans had that misapprehension — so you pounded us with the fact that there was no such link. (Along the way, you created the false impression that Bush had lied to them and said that there was a connection.)
If you had any principles, then surely right now, when the American people are set to blame President Bush and John McCain for a crisis they tried to prevent, and are actually shifting to approve of Barack Obama because of a crisis he helped cause, you would be laboring at least as hard to correct that false impression.
Your job, as journalists, is to tell the truth. That's what you claim you do, when you accept people's money to buy or subscribe to your paper.
But right now, you are consenting to or actively promoting a big fat lie — that the housing crisis should somehow be blamed on Bush, McCain, and the Republicans. You have trained the American people to blame everything bad — even bad weather — on Bush, and they are responding as you have taught them to.
If you had any personal honor, each reporter and editor would be insisting on telling the truth — even if it hurts the election chances of your favorite candidate.
Because that's what honorable people do. Honest people tell the truth even when they don't like the probable consequences. That's what honesty means . That's how trust is earned.
Barack Obama is just another politician, and not a very wise one. He has revealed his ignorance and naivete time after time — and you have swept it under the rug, treated it as nothing.
Meanwhile, you have participated in the borking of Sarah Palin, reporting savage attacks on her for the pregnancy of her unmarried daughter — while you ignored the story of John Edwards's own adultery for many months.
So I ask you now: Do you have any standards at all? Do you even know what honesty means?
Is getting people to vote for Barack Obama so important that you will throw away everything that journalism is supposed to stand for?
You might want to remember the way the National Organization of Women threw away their integrity by supporting Bill Clinton despite his well-known pattern of sexual exploitation of powerless women. Who listens to NOW anymore? We know they stand for nothing; they have no principles.
That's where you are right now.
It's not too late. You know that if the situation were reversed, and the truth would damage McCain and help Obama, you would be moving heaven and earth to get the true story out there.
If you want to redeem your honor, you will swallow hard and make a list of all the stories you would print if it were McCain who had been getting money from Fannie Mae, McCain whose campaign had consulted with its discredited former CEO, McCain who had voted against tightening its lending practices.
Then you will print them, even though every one of those true stories will point the finger of blame at the reckless Democratic Party, which put our nation's prosperity at risk so they could feel good about helping the poor, and lay a fair share of the blame at Obama's door.
You will also tell the truth about John McCain: that he tried, as a Senator, to do what it took to prevent this crisis. You will tell the truth about President Bush: that his administration tried more than once to get Congress to regulate lending in a responsible way.
This was a Congress-caused crisis, beginning during the Clinton administration, with Democrats leading the way into the crisis and blocking every effort to get out of it in a timely fashion.
If you at our local daily newspaper continue to let Americans believe — and vote as if — President Bush and the Republicans caused the crisis, then you are joining in that lie.
If you do not tell the truth about the Democrats — including Barack Obama — and do so with the same energy you would use if the miscreants were Republicans — then you are not journalists by any standard.
You're just the public relations machine of the Democratic Party, and it's time you were all fired and real journalists brought in, so that we can actually have a news paper in our city.
Police departments in cities across the country are beefing up their ranks for Election Day, preparing for possible civil unrest and riots after the historic presidential contest.
Public safety officials said in interviews with The Hill that the election, which will end with either the nation’s first black president or its first female vice president, demanded a stronger police presence.
Sen. Obama (Ill.), the Democratic nominee for president, has seen his lead over rival Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) grow in recent weeks, prompting speculation that there could be a violent backlash if he loses unexpectedly.
Yes, because if the libs don't get their way, they'll prolly throw a tantrum and destroy lots of property in "protest." Oh, and LOL @ "unexpectedly." The polls have been wrong consistently the past few elections and yet, THIS one will be "unexpected." Yes, unexpected, by everyone with a pea-brain.
The official, Dr. Seyed G. Safavi, said recent threats by Israeli authorities strengthened this position, but that as of yet, a preemptive strike has not been integrated into Iranian policy. More here:
This is a very smart move, Iran. If you plan on continuing in your present course, Israel is going to strike you. Even a dumbass Evil Klown can predict this (and has.) Ergo, you best hit them first and hit them hard -- you know -- so they can't strike back. Hurry up -- before it's too late.
Just 14 percent of the stories about John McCain from the conventions through the final presidential debate were positive in tone, according to a study released today, while nearly 60 percent were negative—the least favorable coverage of any of the 4 candidates on the ticket.
The study, by The Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism, a non-partisan journalism watchdog organization, examined 2,412 stories from 43 newspapers and cable news shows in the six-week period beginning just after the conventions and ending with the final presidential debate. More here:
Yes, this comes as a huge shock to all conservatives. Media bias ... whoulda thunk? You know, I might have to stop watching any news at all if McCain wins. I just can't stand another eight years of liberals whining. In fact, it prolly doesn't matter who wins, the libs will whine anyway. It's getting very tiresome ... very tiresome, indeed.

Somehow we missed seeing this in the New York Times.
Of course, they were defended by the NAACP. Funny, huh? Also, I have asked before, "where do these people get their money?" They had 700 "canvassers" there. Well, I just found out they get tons of money from the government -- aka, you and me. We're funding our own demise. Amazing.
WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republican leader John Boehner on Wednesday urged President Bush to block all federal funds to a grass-roots community group that has been accused of voter registration fraud.
"It is evident that ACORN is incapable of using federal funds in a manner that is consistent with the law," Boehner, R-Ohio, wrote Bush, saying that funds should be blocked until all federal investigations into the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now are completed.
ACORN, a group that has led liberal causes since it was formed in 1970, this year hired more than 13,000 part-time workers to sign up voters in minority and poor neighborhoods in 21 states. Some of the 1.3 million registration cards submitted to local election officials, using the names of cartoon characters or pro football players, were obviously phony, spurring GOP charges of widespread misconduct. More here:
Federal funds? This type of thing is bullshit, period. Federal funds, my ass. They steal money from me and give it to them - end of story. And these groups are supposed to be non-profit and non-partisan. Spare me.
And since when did the words "non-profit" become some holy grail? Whom do they think they're fooling? The "government" writes some non-fathomable tax rules and excludes non-profit organizations from taxes. So, instead of paying taxes they hire more people or pay their executives more -- PLUS, they get to exclude real competition. REAL competition would be honest people who wouldn't be able to live with their conscience if they did the same thing without paying taxes. REAL competition would be afraid of going to jail -- but not ACORN and similar groups.
I guess most peeps hear the words "non-profit" and think of hippies on a commune growing their own vegetables and selling them to fund the commune ... as if hippies ought to be able to fund their commune without paying taxes while YOU have to fund YOUR family and pay taxes to boot. Not me ... not anymore ... Every time I hear the words "non-profit," I think "rip-off crock-of-shit."
I always wondered where these people got their money. I used to think, "what idiot would fund these people with millions of dollars?" Now I know. It's ME!
I guess the government has gotten so big it can easily afford to give millions and millions of dollars to these groups. We have plenty of "excess money."
If you can look at me with a straight face and say "ACORN is non-partisan" then you're a Democrat.
Hey, Pelosi, you Dipshitocrats have been in charge of congress for two years and what have you done? Nothing. If voters "hold you accountable" you'll all be out on your ass on November 4.
Secondly, this congress is the most partisan I've ever seen in my life and your solution is "give us even more power?"
If I didn't already know you were an idiot, I'd have been surprised to hear these words escape your lips. I wonder if that retard, Harry Reid, will try to out-idiot you on this topic (as usual.)
But worst of all, for the last couple weeks, I've begun -- for the first time in my adult life -- to be embarrassed to admit what I do for a living. A few days ago, when asked by a new acquaintance what I did for a living, I replied that I was "a writer," because I couldn't bring myself to admit to a stranger that I'm a journalist.
And then the opportunity presents itself -- an attractive young candidate whose politics likely matches yours, but more important, he offers the prospect of a transformed Washington with the power to fix everything that has gone wrong in your career.
With luck, this monolithic, single-party government will crush the alternative media via a revived fairness doctrine, re-invigorate unions by getting rid of secret votes, and just maybe be beholden to people like you in the traditional media for getting it there.
And besides, you tell yourself, it's all for the good of the country …
Bold emphasis is mine.

Police said Bryan Perez, 22, and an accomplice made off with hundreds of dollars in cash in an Oct. 11 raid at an alleged brothel in Washington's Columbia Heights neighborhood.
According to charging documents, one of the victims took control of Perez's silver machete during a struggle and hacked off his right thumb. SURPRISE, JACKASS.
About two hours after the robbery, a nine-fingered Perez went to an emergency room. Police found out about it, fingerprinted the thumb and transported it to the hospital for a comparison, according to a report in The Examiner.
According to an arrest affidavit, a doctor told police the thumb "fits like a puzzle piece."
Perez was transferred to Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore to have it reattached, according to The Examiner.
On Tuesday, a judge ordered Perez held without bond.

“Cross party lines with your own inflatable running mate!”
The political love doll’s suggested uses include:
“Blow her up and show her how you’re going to vote,”
“Let her pound your gavel over and over,” and “It’s time some male interns caused a scandal in the Capitol.”
In addition, the company suggests, the Palin doll could stand in for the candidate at her next debate with Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden. “This blow-up sex doll could really satisfy the swing voters.” Who knew the coming presidential election could be decided by a sex doll?

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' The guy had more guts than a gut factory sitting there showing his support.....but then...
I sat down in the restaurant and my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I smiled as he had given away his political preference--I wanted to get up and leave, but a flash of insight hit me. I stayed. I could not believe it. I am amongst them....of all things just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I would not tip him because I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily cussed me out as a cheap old S.O.B. and stormed from my sight along the way telling the others servers that he just got stiffed by the gray-haired wrinkled old S.O.B. I just smiled and held my Irish Temper. I went outside, gave the homeless guy a $7.00 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty damm angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
OR IS IT.........REDISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S WEALTH IS A GREAT IDEA..............or just a fools game!!
For the last eight years, the Senate has filibustered George Bush's judicial appointees and this has left myriad openings on courts. Seats have actually gone unfilled -- and REMAIN unfilled.
If you think it's bad now, wait until Obama is elected and his appointments squirt through the Senate like semen through Paris Hilton's tonsils.
The mannequin is dressed in brunet wig, glasses and a red business suit. Another mannequin dressed as John McCain emerges from a flaming chimney.
Chad Michael Morisette, who lives in the house, told CBS 2 News that drivers and bus passengers have been stopping to snap pictures of the macabre scene.
Morisette says the effigy would be out of bounds at any other time of year, but it's within the spirit of Halloween.
He says "it should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It's Halloween, it's time to be scary it's time to be spooky."
Wait, I guess it isn't racist, since it's a white female hanging from the noose. Whew, I thought we'd found a witch.
Sgt. Kristin Aloma of the Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood station said that since Sunday she had received five to 10 calls from residents offended by the display. Officials are monitoring the house to make sure the situation doesn't get out of hand, she said.
West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang said although he recognizes residents' right to free speech, he found the display problematic and felt it should be removed.
"While these residents have the legal right to display Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin in effigy, I strongly oppose political speech that references violence -- real or perceived," Prang said in a statement. "I urge these residents to take down their display and find more constructive ways to express their opinion."
Whitmore said that potential hate crimes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If the same display had been made of a Barack Obama-like doll, for example, authorities would have to evaluate it independently, Whitmore said.
"That adds a whole other social, historical hate aspect to the display, and that is embedded in the consciousness of the country," he said, adding he's not sure whether it would be a hate crime. "It would be ill-advised of anybody to speculate on that." More here:
Yes, it's Ok to hang McCain & Palin in a noose, but it's not Ok to hang Obama -- cuz THAT would be a hate crime -- it's a WHOLE different thing. You understand, right?
By Lewis Diuguid, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist
The "socialist" label that Sen. John McCain and his GOP presidential running mate Sarah Palin are trying to attach to Sen. Barack Obama actually has long and very ugly historical roots.
J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924 to 1972, used the term liberally to describe African Americans who spent their lives fighting for equality.
Those freedom fighters included the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who led the Civil Rights Movement; W.E.B. Du Bois, who in 1909 helped found the NAACP which is still the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization; Paul Robeson, a famous singer, actor and political activist who in the 1930s became involved in national and international movements for better labor relations, peace and racial justice; and A. Philip Randolph, who founded and was the longtime head of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and a leading advocate for civil rights for African Americans.
McCain and Palin have simply reached back in history to use an old code word for black. It set whites apart from those deemed unAmerican and those who could not be trusted during the communism scare.
Shame on McCain and Palin.
Yes, McCain and Palin are racists (witches.)
Socialist is the code word for black ... you know ... like Hitler, Chavez, & Stalin ... all those black guys. The Klown thinks "Lewis Diuguid" is a new word for "jackass."
“…. . . a socialist policy is abhorrent to the British ideas of freedom. Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."
The political police ... It's already started ... hate crimes and now "hate speech."

Because he’s going to win every match-up this year except for the one at the end.
Edna Jester was arrested last week in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash.
Police say one child's father complained that Jester kept the youngsters' ball after it landed in her yard. Police Capt. James Schaffer says there has been an ongoing dispute in the neighborhood over kids' balls landing in the woman's yard.
Jester said Monday she has received many calls and didn't have time to discuss the matter any more.
Jester is to appear in court next month. The maximum penalty for a petty theft conviction in Ohio is six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
Exactly, because, why should kids have to respect her property?
Yes, the Obama campaign said some months back that the candidate doesn't seek to re-impose this regulation, which, until Ronald Reagan's FCC phased it out in the 1980s, required TV and radio broadcasters to give balanced airtime to opposing viewpoints or face steep fines or even loss of license. But most Democrats - including party elders Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Al Gore - strongly support the idea of mandating "fairness."
Would a President Obama veto a new Fairness Doctrine if Congress enacted one? It's doubtful.
The Fairness Doctrine was an astonishingly bad idea. It's a too-tempting power for government to abuse. When the doctrine was in effect, both Democratic and Republican administrations regularly used it to harass critics on radio and TV. The rest here:
Yes, the libs are ALL about "fairness." They're very "Democratic." If they don't like what you say, they'll shut you up with the power of government -- just like our founding fathers intended in the first amendment.
Of course, the constitution has always been viewed by liberals as an impediment.

Hey, Obama, your voters don't have jobs -- capisce?
“Obama Wins!” is the headline of the edition on newsstands now, complete with “special collector’s edition” in red bold typeface. More here:
See, the media tells the leftists they're going to win. The leftist polls tell the leftists they're going to win. This is why the leftists are always shocked when they lose. And even thought it happens all the time, they're always just as surprised when it happens. They remind me of prehistoric peeps who were shocked and relieved when the sun came up each day.
When the Democrats won control of congress two years ago, did you hear anything about stolen elections or "fixed Diebold voting machines?" No, you didn't. There's never any voter fraud or cheating when Democrats win -- it's only when they lose that there's a big problem and conspiracy. I mean, you know it's ridiculous when The Onion makes fun of it.

"It will turn out to be a just war... to build an independent reunified state on it," it added in a statement carried by the state news agency. More here:

Time magazine's Mark Halperin on Sunday made one of the strongest insider indictments to date about how the Obama-loving media have behaved during this presidential campaign.
Talking with CNN/Washington Post media analyst Howard Kurtz about the "clear, unambiguous double standard" concerning how differently Barack Obama's fundraising and flipflop over taking public campaign funds would be covered by the press if he was a Republican, Halperin boldly stated that any reporter who doesn't ask why that is ... "is doing themselves and our profession and our democracy a disservice."
Frankly, no greater truth has been spoken about the media's deplorable election coverage the past eighteen months (file photo): From Newsbusters:
The Title of the essay is "The left's Big Blunder."
One of the topics is "Who is doing the polling?" (This is a critical question and this section explains, in part, why the polls are so often wrong.)
Who would apply for and accept such a job? Not someone who already has a higher-paying job. Not someone who has experience or skills that would allow them a better career or position. Not someone who is middle-class or middle-aged. Not someone who is wealthy. Generally, I wager, college students, the under-employed and/or the under-educated make up the majority of people who do the actual rubber-meets-the-road polling of asking the questions and writing down the answers.
Though there are no published statistics about the demoographics (lol @ deMOOgraphics) of pollers themselves, the fact that, for example, The Gallup Poll routinely recruits entry-level call-center employees on college campuses lends support to this supposition. And, anecdotally, when I was a college student I briefly worked for a public-opinion call center doing this exact kind of job, and my fellow pollers were almost all college students or underemployed folks, some of whom only worked a limited number of hours per week so as to still qualify for government benefits. Not sure if "deMOOgraphics" was a misspelling or a commentary but I like it.)
Now, as we all know, college students (especially these days) are usually at the apex of left-wing sentiment in their lives' political journey. As has been documented extensively, people tend to get more conservative as they get older and acquire more responsibilities. And contemporary college students are almost all being influenced toward leftist ideologies by the liberal atmosphere on most campuses. Some will later grow out of it and slowly shift to the center or right, but while they're in college, they're in the thrall of their doctrinaire professors. The Obama campaign itself brags that they have the under-25 demographic locked up.
Furthermore, chronically underemployed or unemployed people also tend to support left-leaning and populist candidates -- especially candidates like Obama who are promising free health care, more government benefits, job programs in poor areas, and so on. This is not a controversial supposition: it's also been documented extensively that wealthy people tend to support Republicans who promise to lower taxes, and poorer people tend to support Democrats who promise more handouts.
So, I posit that the vast majority of people actually doing the polling are themselves Obama supporters. Not necessarily the CEOs who own the polling companies, but the people actually picking up the phone and making the calls, or walking door-to-door.

In January 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competition's.
Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an "economic development credit in American Samoa ".
This guy has something in mind for America, and it isn't "expanding freedom."

Newspaper spokeswoman Nancy Sullivan said Monday that 75 staffers are being laid off in the latest round of cuts.
From now until the election, I shall wear my button and engage Obama supporters in conversation. Perhaps I can have some fun ... and, in the meantime, perhaps I can persuade at least ONE Obama supporter to change their vote.
At the very least, I can have fun mocking them while pretending to support Obama ... as long as I don't wear it in western Pennsylvania ... you know ... cuz that's where John Murtha says all the racists live ... and they may not get the joke.
Moody’s Investors Service also said it may follow the move, adding the publisher faces risks in refinancing its debt.
The New York Times posted a quarterly loss from continuing operations on Thursday and said advertising revenue at its news media group dropped 16 percent for the quarter. More here:

"We are a guerrilla organization. We are communist women and men, underground in the United States for more than four years."
"We need a revolutionary communist party in order to lead the struggle, give coherence and direction to the fight, seize power and build the new society."
More quotes here, along with an essay by the Zombie.
See ... this is what I hate. Communist jackasses wresting our freedom from us bit by bit ... all the while pretending they aren't communists. You know ... like the media.
But she later discovered the tiny creature tucked away in the padded pocket of her underwear.
As staff and colleagues crowded around, Miss Hawkins, 19, produced the frightened bat, which was the size of her hand.
She said: "Once I realised it was a bat I was shocked, but then I felt quite sorry for it really.
"It looked very snug in there and I thought how mean I was for disturbing it."
Miss Hawkins said she got dressed at 7.30am and arrived for work at the Holiday Inn Norwich North, near Norwich International Airport without noticing anything unusual.
"When I was driving to work I felt a slight vibration but I thought it was just my mobile phone in my jacket pocket," she said.
It was not until her lunch break, at midday when she felt a strange movement inside her bra, which had been hanging on her washing line the previous night.
"I plucked up the courage to investigate and I pulled out a little baby bat. I just lost my breath when I saw it and I did not know what it was at first," she said.
The teenager's general manager freed the bat in the hotel garden.
"I keep thinking how could I have not known it was there?" Miss Hawkins said. "I will certainly be checking my bras every morning from now on."
Jaime Eastham, of the Bat Conservation Trust, said they had never heard of a bat being found in a bra before.
But she said the animals roost anywhere that appears dark and safe.
Looks like they got a fake/rubber bat for the pic.
Because Lord knows there's no stories out there about The One you need to cover.
Just weeks before Election Day, a former banker has filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court claiming he was fired for reporting to his bosses that there had been some shenanigans with the paperwork on a loan involving the purchase of Barack Obama’s South Side home and its neighboring lot.
Kenneth Conner claims in the suit that an appraisal found the vacant lot purchased by Obama fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko was worth $125,000 less than the bank’s first appraisal. The Republican National Committee was peddling the suit today with the apparent hope that Conner’s allegation would lend credence to the suggestion Obama needed Rezko’s help to finance the purchase of the Kenwood home–something Obama has denied.
The suit also includes this intriguing assertion: The Rezko loan file was subpoenaed by a federal grand jury in Chicago, and when the bank responded to the subpoena the lower appraisal wasn’t included in the papers sent to federal investigators.
No, the media can't look into things like this because they're FAR too busy doing this instead:
NYT Reporter Jodi Kantor Trolls Schoolchildren on Facebook to Dig Dirt on Cindy McCain
The following Facebook message was sent to a 16 year old classmate of McCain's daughter Bridget.

I saw on facebook that you went to Xavier, and if you don't mind, I'd love to ask you some advice about a story. I'm a reporter at the New York Times, writing a profile of Cindy McCain, and we are trying to get a sense of what she is like as a mother. So I'm reaching out to fellow parents at her kids' schools. My understanding is that some of her older kids went to Brophy/Xavier, but I'm trying to figure out what school her 16 year old daughter Bridget attends-- and a few people said it was PCDS. Do you know if that's right? Again, we're not really reporting on the kids, just seeking some fellow parents who can talk about what Mrs. McCain is like.
Also, if you know anyone else who I should talk to-- basically anyone who has encountered Mrs. McCain and might be able to share impressions-- that would be great.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

Meanwhile, not a single reporter has bothered asking anyone -- like, adults -- about the open secret that Bill Ayers babysat for Obama's kids.
So why doesn't McCain make an issue of this?
Oh, mercy, they are.
In a letter to the NYT, a McCain staffer notes "You have not tried to find Barack Obama's drug dealer."
It is worth noting that you have not employed your investigative assets looking into Michelle Obama. You have not tried to find Barack Obama’s drug dealer that he wrote about in his book, Dreams of My Father. Nor have you interviewed his poor relatives in Kenya and determined why Barack Obama has not rescued them. Thus, there is a terrific lack of balance here.
I suggest to you that none of these subjects on either side are worthy of the energy and resources of The New York Times. They are cruel hit pieces designed to injure people that only the worst rag would investigate and publish. I know you and your colleagues are always preaching about raising the level of civil discourse in our political campaigns. I think taking some your own medicine is in order here.
Or, actually, I already know.
I'd like to know why the NYT doesn't want to know.
Strike that -- I know the answer to that one, too.
Incidentally, why would the NYT attempt to reignite its discredited Vicky Isemann affair rumor now?
Gee, it's almost as if they know something might be on the horizon involving Obama.
New York Times, September 11, 2001: ''I don't regret setting bombs,'' Bill Ayers said. ''I feel we didn't do enough.''
Evil Klown - Oct 27, 2008 - "Chris Mathews is a piece of shit."
Wayne Forrester, 34, drank alcohol and took cocaine before driving 15 miles to the family home to attack wife Emma as she lay in bed.
The couple had separated four days before the murder in February and Forrester later told police he had been provoked by his wife changing her marital status to "single" on her Facebook entry, the court heard.
Forrester, a HGV driver, admitted murder in February this year in New Addington, near Croydon.
Emma was found in a pool of blood after neighbours were woken at 6.30am by her screams. Near her body was a large kitchen knife and in another room a blood-soaked meat cleaver. More here:
So he got a "minimum" of 14 years. I will never understand how you can hack someone to death with a meat clever and not end up in prison for life "MINIMUM."
I think these jackasses should die in the same way they killed their victim. I sure hope nothing along the same lines happens to some of the wives and daughters of these "lawmakers." GD incompetent morons.
All the time, I see these assholes getting "25 years to life" for violent and disgusting murders. Lame punishments and they don't even have to work while in prison. I know this was in England but it's the same stupid shit in the US. What the hell is the matter with our legislators that they allow this to go on even ONE MORE DAY?
Several thousand turned out for the rally, which featured an Obama fresh from Wednesday's debate with Republican opponent Sen. John McCain.
Not present, or at least not singing the National Anthem at the rally was Londonderry senior Zach Bencal.
Bencal, who sings the anthem for a number of school events and is actively involved in local community theatre, had been contacted by the Obama campaign to sing the anthem. He agreed to do so, then was told later in the evening the anthem had been scratched from the program. Bencal said he was told by the campaign the decision was a simple programming change to make room for another speaker.
"I guess it just wasn't meant to be," Bencal said.
Ha, that's what you get for showing up to sing the anthem at a communist rally anyway, jackass.
My Dear Patsy
I hoped before this to have received letters from you regularly and weekly by the post, and also to have had a letter to forward from you to one of your aunts as I desired in my letter of Nov. 28th. I am afraid you do not comply with my desires expressed in that letter. Your not writing to me every week is one instance, and your having never sent me any of your copies of Mr. Simitiere's drawing lessons is another. I shall be very much mortified and disappointed if you become inattentive to my wishes and particularly to the directions of that letter which I meant for your principal guide.
I omitted in that letter to advise you on the subject of dress, which I know you are a little apt to neglect. I do not wish you to be gayly clothed at this time of life, but that your wear should be fine of its kind. But above all things and at all times let your clothes be neat, whole, and properly put on. Do not fancy you must wear them till the dirt is visible to the eye. . .. Some ladies think they may. . . be loose and negligent of their dress in the morning. But be you, from the moment you rise till you go to bed, as cleanly and properly dressed as at the hours of dinner or tea.
A lady who has been seen as a sloven. . . in the morning, will never efface the impression she has made, with all the dress and pageantry she can afterwards involve herself in. Nothing is so disgusting to men as a want of cleanliness and delicacy in women. I hope, therefore, the moment you rise from bed, your first work will be to dress yourself in such style, as that you may be seen by any gentleman without his being able to discover a pin amiss, or any other circumstance of neatness wanting...
Present my compliments to . . . Mrs. Hopkinson whose health and happiness I have much at heart. I hope you are obedient and respectful to her in every circumstance and that your manners will be such as to engage her affections. I am my Dear Patsy, yours sincerely & affectionately,
Patsy's youngest son became Secretary of War for the Confederacy. At the end of the Civil War, he fled to Europe and died there in 1867.

Oh, lordy - Brutal. I found this at Hot Air.
What a beating she gave him. Now THIS is how the "regular" media interviews a Republican -- with one SMALL difference. She asks the question and then keeps her mouth shut and lets him answer. The usual lib jourrrrnalist would be interrupting all over the place and arguing instead of piping down and letting the candidate answer.
I love how the fuckstick gets a hard question and then asks "is this a joke?" I guess he's not used to being thrown some hardballs.
Anyway, she brings the heat to his raggedy ass and then keeps quiet. In my opinion, THIS is the kind of interview that shows total professionalism. Kudos to her.
Oh, and "we haven't given a penny to ACORN?" Okie Dokie, dumbass. We don't know any better, so we'll buy it ... NOT!
Here's the video of the interview.
West wondered about Sen. Barack Obama's comment, to Joe the Plumber, about spreading the wealth. She quoted Karl Marx and asked how Obama isn't being a Marxist with the "spreading the wealth" comment.
"Are you joking?" said Biden, who is Obama's running mate. "No," West said.
West later asked Biden about his comments that Obama could be tested early on as president. She wondered if the Delaware senator was saying America's days as the world's leading power were over.
"I don't know who's writing your questions," Biden shot back. Hey, Biden, maybe the Klown wrote the questions, jackass. Just answer. You don't see Sarah Palin whining do you? She knows they try to make her look stupid. She knows they present it to the American people in a snide, condescending, manner -- and yet, she stands there and takes it like an adult ... but not you, right, Biden ... you fucktard.
Biden so disliked West's line of questioning that the Obama campaign canceled a WFTV interview with Jill Biden, the candidate's wife.
"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.
McGinnis said the Biden cancellation was "a result of her husband's experience yesterday during the satellite interview with Barbara West."
Here's a link to the interview: http://www.wftv.com/video/17790025/index.html.
WFTV news director Bob Jordan said, "When you get a shot to ask these candidates, you want to make the most of it. They usually give you five minutes."
Jordan said political campaigns in general pick and choose the stations they like. And stations often pose softball questions during the satellite interviews.
"Mr. Biden didn't like the questions," Jordan said. "We choose not to ask softball questions."
Jordan added, "I'm crying foul on this one."
Yes, this is what happens to journalists who aren't liberal jackasses. If you don't conform to the liberal agenda (Democrats good, Republicans bad) then you're cut off -- you're finished -- got me? NON NEGOTIABLE!
It's perfectly Ok to ask hard questions of Republicans and attempt to make them look like fools, but try it with a Democrat and they cry and snivel wike wittle babies.
Waaaaaa Waaaaaa - she tried to make me answer tough questions. Waaaaa, it's not fair ... all the other media are helping carry my furniture to the White House but this one is mean .... waaaaaa. Biden, you're a pussy. Not that we didn't already know that.
And, again, a lib reporter would have interrupted him and argued with him but she let him talk. She didn't make him go back and answer the question she asked when he sidestepped the question, she just moved on to the next question.
Now I have a question -- when are the Republicans going to start punishing the lib reporters? When are they going to say "No more interviews with Katie Couric, or Matt Lauer, etc?" Oh, and don't forget to make it NON NEGOTIABLE!
It just goes to show you how easily they fold when challenged. Taking back our government may not be as hard as I thought.
Lastly, nice job Barbara West, Bob Jordan and WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando. The Klown commends you.
U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick on Friday night rejected the suit by attorney Philip J. Berg, who alleged that Obama was not a U.S. citizen and therefore ineligible for the presidency. Berg claimed that Obama is either a citizen of his father's native Kenya or became a citizen of Indonesia after he moved there as a boy.
Surrick ruled that Berg lacked standing to bring the case, saying any harm from an allegedly ineligible candidate was "too vague and its effects too attenuated to confer standing on any and all voters."
The judge dismissed the suit due to lack of "standing."
Yet, somehow, all these "environmental" groups have standing to sue the oil companies, etc, etc, on behalf of you and me. Yes -- these SHITSTAIN groups have "standing" but someone trying to ensure that Obama is an American-born citizen (as required by the Constitution) does not.
Are you getting it yet? Almost all branches of government and your school system have been infiltrated and taken over by the liberals/commies. You have been thwarted -- you're done. It's over. Now we have to take it back ... and it's going to take a long, LONG, time.
You know, since being a natural born citizen is a requirement of the Constitution, you'd think a candidate would have to prove it ... but I guess you'd be wrong.
For all those who vote Democrat, congratulations, looks like you've won.
'Of course, madam,' replied the sales clerk, 'exactly what type and color are you looking for?'
The bride to be said: 'A long frilly white dress with a veil.'
The sales clerk hesitated a bit, then said, 'Please don't take this the wrong way, but gowns of that nature is considered more appropriate for brides who are being married the first time - for those who are a bit more innocent, if you know what I mean? Perhaps ivory or sky blue would be nice?'
'Well,' replied the customer, a little peeved at the clerk's directness, 'I can assure you that a white gown would be quite appropriate. Believe it or not, despite all my marriages, I remain as innocent as a first-time bride.
You see, my first husband was so excited about our wedding, he died as we were checking into our hotel.
My second husband and I got into such a terrible fight in the limo on our way to our honeymoon that we had that wedding annulled immediately and never spoke to each other again.'
'What about your third husband?' asked the sales clerk.
'That one was a Democrat,' said the woman, 'and every night for four years, he just sat on the edge of the bed and told me how good it was going to be, but nothing ever happened.'
A-is-A sent me this in email.
