I was doing a search for some barracuda attack that jan was talking about being on the news and came across this idiotic headline:
"Palin’s Persecution Complex Culminates with “Blood Libel” Accusation"

Persecution complex? It's not a complex if you're actually being persecuted and it's obvious to anyone thinking clearly that she is the lightning rod for anyone left of center. Of course this blatant contortion of the truth coerced me into reading the article.

Well, here's the first major paragraph:

"This gaffe -- demonstrating both an ignorance of religious history and language -- tops a disastrous week: her crosshairs map has been Exhibit A in the discussion of the use of gun-related imagery in political rhetoric. But her PR has been woefully inadequate in explaining the map away as "surveyors symbols." Her TLC show will not be renewed by TLC, her chances for a successful run at the presidency have been downgraded, and even Barbara Walters expressed "feeling a bit sorry for her." Palin, however, has remained aloof and cocooned in Wasilla, while hired minions wipe her Facebook page constantly so that negative comments do not show up. So how is Barracuda Barbie a.k.a. Queen Esther shaping her response? The persecution meme."

No persecution here. This writer does nothing but insult and disparage Mrs. Palin and then ends it with "the persecution meme". Just to save you the trouble of googling the word, the common definition is "The term Internet meme is a phrase used to describe a catchphrase or concept that spreads quickly from person to person via the Internet, much like an esoteric inside joke." Another definition which might be the one Ms. Butler intended to use is, "Any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another." Either way, she used a contemporary buzzword to sound cool instead of using the correct word. I'm not sure what the word is myself, but I certainly know that Libs will iterate the same thought or idea incessantly in hopes that people will eventually accept it as the truth. What Mrs. Palin is doing is the opposite of that. The truth is the author proved herself wrong with her own paragraph.

I thought the wording "Her most recent book" was a bit dodgy so I did some googling. It turns out that "her most recent book" is her first actual book. According to Amazon.com, the rest are html documents and there is one paperback which she co-authored with two other writers. I love it when Libs try to slip one past us. Clearly her choice of words was used to indicate that she's a prolific author. She is not.

What? The NAACP is a "special interest group?"

SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- While attending a meeting for business leaders in Sanford, Governor Paul LePage spoke out about why he would not attend Martin Luther King ceremonies on the upcoming holiday.

LePage has declined invitations from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The organization has already expressed its displeasure with the governor's plans to not attend the events.

"They are a special interest. End of story...and I'm not going to be held hostage by special interests. And if they want, they can look at my family picture. My son happens to be black, so they can do whatever they'd like about it," said LePage.

LePage has an adopted son who is from Jamaica.

When a reporter from another television station asked LePage if his non-participation is more than one instance, and rather a pattern, he replied, "Tell 'em to kiss my butt. If they want to play the race card, come to dinner and my son will talk to them." More here:

Yes, the NAACP is just another special interest group (not that there's anything wrong with special interest groups.)  I like how they DEMAND attention from public officials as if they're ENTITLED.  I wondered how long these morons were going to get away with their scam.  They remind me of the "Congressional Black Caucus" (all leftist asshats.)

States' rights? Secret ballots? Yeah, we don't McThink so.

WASHINGTON – The National Labor Relations Board on Friday threatened to sue Arizona, South Carolina, South Dakota and Utah over constitutional amendments guaranteeing workers the right to a secret ballot in union elections.

The agency's acting general counsel, Lafe Solomon, said the amendments conflict with federal law, which gives employers the option of recognizing a union if a majority of workers sign cards that support unionizing.

The amendments, approved Nov. 2, have taken effect in South Dakota and Utah, and will do so soon in Arizona and South Carolina.

Business and anti-union groups sought the amendments, arguing that such secrecy is necessary to protect workers against union intimidation. They are concerned that Congress might enact legislation requiring employers to allow the "card check" process for forming unions instead of secret ballot elections. More here:

Government and lawyers - our friends

Bobby and Amanda Herring spent more than a year providing food to homeless people in downtown Houston every day. They fed them, left behind no trash and doled out warm meals peacefully without a single crime being committed, Bobby Herring said.

That ended two weeks ago when the city shut down their "Feed a Friend" effort for lack of a permit. And city officials say the couple most likely will not be able to obtain one.

"We don't really know what they want, we just think that they don't want us down there feeding people," said Bobby Herring, a Christian rapper who goes by the stage name Tre9. More here:

I like it when government steps in to lend its genius in situations such as this.  I mean, what would we DO without the government controlling our every breath?  I can guarantee the government here has a problem with one of two things:

1 - They need to be consistent in the application of their kazillion regulations so they aren't sued.

2 - See item #1.

That's right -- lawyers are stopping the homeless from being fed for free.  But you know what?  Lawyers don't care ... they're only looking out for the public good ... and to ensure that everyone is treated equally ... right?

The Dark Knight is effectively a new version of those classic westerns Fort Apache and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, which show that, in order to civilise the Wild West, the lie has to be elevated into truth: civilisation, in other words, must be grounded on a lie. The film has been extraordinarily popular. The question is why, at this precise moment, is there this renewed need for a lie to maintain the social system?

Surprisingly, the Left thinks Palin can do no right.

It was unfair for liberal detractors to link Palin to the shootings and she had a right to be angry, Kurtz writes, but she could have chosen to speak to the country in a "calmer, more inclusive way" instead of fueling the fire with her "blood libel" remarks.

Palin's video escalated her war with the press and "continued her us-versus-them approach to political discourse," Kurtz writes. Hitting back at critics instead of trying to respond with a unifying message seems like "the response of someone who wants to stoke her base and further her lucrative career as a culture warrior—not someone who is plotting to run for president," he concludes.

Remarkable. It's almost as if no matter what Mrs. Palin does, the Left criticizes her. It's as if there's a pattern there... somewhere.

Hey Gunners,

The Arizona tragedy illustrates there is so much wrong with the human condition. People can use objects to harm others. Ever since man realized he could take the life of another man we have been killing each other for benefit or revenge. Frequently we justify these actions on a disagreement of another's belief system.

What is so sad now is that people are using this tragic shooting as an opportunity to raise funds to help their political prospects or fill their organizational coffers. Yes, guns kill. That is what they are designed to do. Many are specifically designed to kill people. Murder existed long before guns were made and it exists in places where guns are outlawed. Guns take lives and guns save lives.

Someday there may be a world that doesn't need guns. Someday there may be a world where you don't need to protect yourself from someone that intends you harm. Until the human condition allows us to live in peace, we are dependent upon the sheepdog.

Be the sheepdog. Protect those that can't protect themselves. To those that want to harm others either for profit or for philosophy-to the best of our ability we won't let you. To those that would disarm the sheepdog, remember the wolves are out there and they will find you. You can't negotiate with them. You can only die. Life is precious; never deny anyone the opportunity to ensure their self preservation or the protection of the innocent.

This reminds me of a recent article I read regarding proper herd management for sheep. The author talked about having two different types of dogs to help him with the sheep. One was a Border Collie and it helped him move the sheep around the pastures. The other was a pair of Maremma Sheepdogs. The Maremma is a white dog with a black nose and blends in well with the herd- looking very much like the sheep it protects. According to the author, "The dogs live with the herd and stay with the herd. They don't respond to commands and they distrust strangers. They think and act like sheep except that if they feel that you're threatening the flock, they'll tear your throat out. No, really."

The Republicans in the House of Representatives held up a crucifix read the constitution aloud to some vampires the Democratics the other day and the vampires Democratics went berserk.

You can watch your intellectual betters the dumbass lefties recoil in horror in the comments on the Huffington Post blog. Did anyone notice if any house Democratics rose to read a passage? Did any ask? Just asking.

Another note to myself: It appeared to me that Boehner did not rehearse his part. I guess he felt he didn't need to because ??? I'm still calling him a moron. He doesn't deserve to be speaker. As far as I'm concerned he's just one of the old Republicans who participated in the fall of America.

He's got a lot to prove to me. This was a step in the right direction but I doubt he'll keep it up ... I think he's just acting.

Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin

During an appearance on last night's (Wednesday, January 5) edition of the "Anderson Cooper 360°" show, legendary rocker Ted Nugent gave his opinion of Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor who was the Republican vice-presidential candidate in 2008."[Palin's] coming from the street, she's coming from the we-the-people rank-and-file, she makes sense when she talks, she says all the right things, she's sincere, she's knowledgeable, she's articulate, she's damn good-looking, plus she kills moose. How can you go wrong?!" Nugent gushed. However, when Cooper pressed the rocker on whether Palin would make a good president, Nugent balked. "It's too early to tell," Ted replied. "Right now, if we had a vote, I couldn't vote for Sarah Palin. And I love her. I love her madly, and I respect her."

I was a Ted Nugent fan before I knew I was a conservative. Crazy guitar riffs and correct politicalness are a winning combo. And on this topic, Ms Palin's electability, I agree whole-heartedly. But what "journalist" uses "gushed" and "balked?" I can't imagine the Motor City Madman "gushing."

Well, This Makes a Lot More Sense Than Vaccination Being the Cause. UPDATE!

Surprisingly, all the scientific evidence to which Jenny McCarthy had access didn't indicate any logical cause for autism in children. Of course, she didn't let that stop her from zealously broadcasting that she was 100% sure that vaccinations cause autism in children.

The issue I have with this sort of opinion- particularly coming from someone with the access to a very large and easily influenced audience- is that it can cause parents to decide not to have their children vaccinated.

This might be fine for them, but by not getting their children vaccinated, they're increasing the risk to my children. Fortunately, my children attend a school where vaccination is not mandatory, but if your children are not vaccinated, they aren't welcome to attend.

With the rate of diagnosis for autism being 1 in 110 children in recent history, it just didn't make any sense that vaccines would be the cause. Children have been receiving vaccinations for decades but it's only recently that such high incidences of autism have been showing up.

Some of you might argue that this is due to better diagnostic methods and doctors who are better educated than their colleagues were in the past. I would argue that due to its popularity, autism is being over-diagnosed. However, accurate diagnosis is not the point of this post.

Well, leave it to the scientists to come up with a reasonable and logical explanation:

(Newser) – Scientists have a new lead in the search for the causes autism. Research presented this week provides strong evidence of a link between infertility treatments and the disorder. A Harvard study has discovered that treatment with Clomid and other ovulation-stimulating drugs doubles a woman's risk of giving birth to an autistic child, with a higher risk the longer the woman took the drugs. A second Israeli study has found a tie between in vitro fertilization and autism.

The Harvard study controlled for the women's age at the time of pregnancy—a known factor in autism—but had no access to information about premature birth, whether the children were twins or triplets, or their birth weights, all additional factors in autism. "This study is addressing a really important question but we need more data," a scientist tells Time.

January 5, 2011 UPDATE

(CNN) -- A now-retracted British study that linked autism to childhood vaccines was an "elaborate fraud" that has done long-lasting damage to public health, a leading medical publication reported Wednesday.

An investigation published by the British medical journal BMJ concludes the study's author, Dr. Andrew Wakefield, misrepresented or altered the medical histories of all 12 of the patients whose cases formed the basis of the 1998 study -- and that there was "no doubt" Wakefield was responsible.

Actress Jenny McCarthy, founder of Generation Rescue and whose son also has autism, declined to comment on Wednesday's developments, but has previously supported Wakefield.

"It is our most sincere belief that Dr. Wakefield and parents of children with autism around the world are being subjected to a remarkable media campaign engineered by vaccine manufacturers reporting on the retraction," she said after the Lancet retraction.

Deer said Wakefield "chiseled" the data before him, "falsifying medical histories of children and essentially concocting a picture, which was the picture he was contracted to find by lawyers hoping to sue vaccine manufacturers and to create a vaccine scare."

 Why is the truth always a "conspiracy" with these people? Maybe Ms. McCarthy should stick to sophmoric comedy and taking her clothes off.
