"Republican" governor suffers brain cramp - lets murderer off

Uber genius/politician/John Kasich

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The governor on Monday sidestepped a decision about whether a condemned inmate is too fat to be humanely executed by sparing him on the grounds that he had poor legal representation.

Whew, that was a close one, we almost executed a disgusting fatass murderer.

Republican Gov. John Kasich's decision to grant clemency to Ronald Post mirrored the recommendation of mercy by the state parole board, which said it didn't doubt Post's guilt but said there were too many problems with how he was represented 30 years ago.

No doubt about his guilt but spare him anyway.  Yes, I see the logic there.

Post, who weighs 450 pounds, never raised the issue of his size with the board. And Kasich, who commuted Post's sentence to life with no chance of parole, didn't mention Post's obesity claim in his statement. Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols said the governor didn't consider Post's obesity claim.

"This decision should not be viewed by anyone as diminishing this awful crime or the pain it has caused," Kasich said.

I'm glad he told me how to "view" his decision.  Otherwise I'd view it as diminishing the life of the innocent motel clerk and total disregard for the suffering of the clerk's family.

Post was scheduled to die Jan. 16 for killing Elyria motel clerk Helen Vantz in a 1983 robbery. More here:

Yes, he was "scheduled to die" ... 30 years, I SAID 30 GD YEARS, after he ruthlessly killed an innocent motel clerk.  But her life means nothing to these brain damaged jackass politicians.

I noticed there was no description of the crime in the "report" other than "killed a motel clerk" so I did some Googling and found this. From here:

According to police and prosecutors, Post and two other men had cased the motel on Dec. 14, 1983. But Post returned alone later and talked to the desk clerk there about staying at the hotel at a later date and was introduced to Vantz when she came on duty around 12:15 a.m. Dec. 15.

He left but later returned and was let inside by Vantz, whom the other clerk had told that Post might come back. Vantz was shot twice in the head and was found about 7:30 a.m. at the desk where she had been working on the motel’s receipts.

Post made off with $100 and some of Vantz’s personal items.

Gee, I wonder why people continue to rob and murder.  Big deal, they lock you up, keep you warm, give you clothing and three meals a day.

I only wish that Kasich has to suffer the same fate as the victim's family one day.
