The new commander of the US base in Guantanamo, Cuba, presides over
two different worlds — separated by miles of woods and barbed wire.
Outside
the fence where 166 real-life monsters are imprisoned, there’s a Navy
Exchange store that looks like a Walmart — and was doing a brisk
business selling monster costumes to youngsters.
It had a big sign advertising it as: “Your Halloween Headquarters.”
Down
the street is a movie theater, a Subway sandwich shop, a McDonald’s, a
Pizza Hut and an Irish-style bar with a plaque that reads, “Down with
Guinness — then you’ll feel better.”
It says there's 166 prioners left and about 5,500 peeps live there, including 700 children.
That's sort of interesting to me because I SERIOUSLY doubt McDonalds would ever locate a restaurant in such a small town ... nor would a Taco Bell. On the other hand, when the competition is severely restricted, maybe it's a different story.
