BROOKLYN (CBS) ― A Brooklyn rabbi is speaking out after a scary encounter with a man accused of snatching his yarmulke off his head.

Rabbi Uria Ohana's crash course on street justice -- and the justice -- system continues.

"I got a call from the district attorney," Ohana said. "I'm going to testify in front of the grand jury."

The case is against 18-year old Ali Hussein, accused of snatching Ohana's yarmulke last week inside a Park Slope subway station. It was an offense Ohana says he couldn't let pass.

"I decided to chase him to get my yarmulke back," Ohana said.

Prosecutors haven't classified the incident as a bias crime yet, but a Brooklyn resident who spoke to CBS 2 HD says he's not encouraged by what happened.

"It's unfortunate that these two cultures that don't get along a world away … even here in Brooklyn … are not getting along," Brooklyn resident Miguel Yazinsky said.

Rabbi Ohana says as he ran back down the station's stairs two of Hussein's friends got up from this bench and chased him out of the station.

"They were screaming 'Allahu Akhbar (God is great) and punching my face," Ohana said.

But Ohana says things came to a head when Hussein was hit by a car as he ran out onto Fourth Avenue. EMS officials confirm responding to a call at that time and location for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

At the subway station, CBS 2 HD found little sympathy for Hussein.

"So you're trying to say the guy who grabbed it got hit by a car? That's justice, isn't it?" Brooklyn resident Kevin Ryan said.

Not for Rabbi Ohana, who says despite the fact Hussein was injured, he still wants him prosecuted to fullest extent of the law.

Hussein is charged with grand larceny, petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. Prosecutors expect more charges will be filed.

FIGHTING jihad \ against Western society is an obligation.

BRITISH Muslims should travel abroad to fight our troops.

Choudray's lecture tour was launched with the aim of teaching Islamic extremist recruiting teams how to win new members and brainwash them into backing the mass-murdering terror group.

Obama, in an interview, said that "a lot of these old labels don't apply anymore."

"I'm not a communist, or a socialist, or a liberal -- I'm a progressive." These libs come up with a new name for themselves every so often -- you know -- once people get them figured out. The new name helps them fool the people -- for a while.

He said he was a progressive and a pragmatist, eager to tackle the big issues like health care and convinced that the Democrats could rally independents and disaffected Republicans to their agenda.

Only then, he said, could the party achieve what it has so rarely won in modern presidential elections - a mandate to do big things.

LMAO -- he can't WAIT to get in there and start with the taxing and spending. Hey -- Obama -- I don't want the government doing "big things." I want the government to stay out of things -- keep your hands to yourself. Build roads and prisons, get bad guys, defend the nation, stop illegal immigration etc -- otherwise -- leave us and our wallets alone.

Obama does not come to the campaign with a reputation as one of the accommodating bridge-builders in the Senate. His voting record, albeit short, is to the left; the National Journal declared it the most liberal of 2007. CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- A US Airways pilot’s gun accidentally discharged during a flight from Denver to Charlotte Saturday, according to a statement released by the airline.

The statement said the discharge happened on Flight 1536, which left Denver at approximately 6:45 a.m. and arrived in Charlotte at approximately 11:51 a.m.

The Airbus A319 plane landed safely and none of the flight’s 124 passengers or five crew members was injured, according to the statement. It was a full flight. An airline spokeswoman said the plane has been taken out of service to make sure it is safe to return to flight.

A Transportation Safety Administration spokeswoman reached by WCNC Sunday said the pilot is part of TSA’s Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) program, which trains pilots to carry guns on flights. Andrea McCauley said the gun discharged in the cockpit, but she could not release how the gun was being transported at the time. She did not release the pilot’s name, but said he was authorized to carry the weapon and was last requalified in the FFDO program last November.

A statement from TSA said the airplane was never in danger, and the TSA and the Federal Air Marshals Service are investigating the incident.

As media continue to report current economic conditions as being almost Depression-like, they conveniently forget which political party has controlled both chambers of Congress since January 2007 as well as who was in the White House when key financial services deregulation was enacted.

Such a well-timed amnesia hit ABC's Claire Shipman Sunday when during the panel discussion segment of "This Week," she blamed the current financial crisis on Republicans.

Color me unsurprised.

After host George Stephanopoulos asked Shipman's husband, Time magazine's Jay Carney, "How does John McCain fix his problem on the economy," the following ensued:

JAY CARNEY, TIME MAGAZINE: He has to make a high-profile speech about this crisis that says, "I can be a Republican who actually cares about people that are suffering through this downturn and this crisis." And that will get people's attention. I think it's now he's got the nomination, it's not too early to start remembering the middle. "A Republican who actually cares ... " -- way to go, objective jourrrrrnalist.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN, ABC: Won't that just remind people though that Republicans were running the show when we got into this mess? Remind? Here's some "reminder" for you, you dumbass amnesiac liberal. Of course, idiot lib reporters never let the facts get in the way. Too bad the penalty for malevolent misrepresentation on a news show isn't to have your teeth batted into your tonsils with an aluminum baseball bat.

Well, Claire, as the Democrats took over Congress in January 2007, and the credit crunch started about six months later, could you tell the class what pieces of banking legislation were proposed by the majority party during this period which were designed to solve the looming financial crisis?

Oh, that's right: the Democrats spent the first year of the 110th Congress almost exclusively trying to end funding for the Iraq war.

In a related question, Claire, could you list specifically what pieces of legislation signed into law by George W. Bush precipitated the problems the financial services industry is facing today, and what Democrats did to stop their passage?

While she ponders, the reality is that many of the problems in the banking, lending, and securities industries today are tied to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act which eliminated the last vestiges of the Depression Era Glass-Steagall Act.

For those that actually study such things, Glass-Steagall created legal distinctions between what banks, securities firms, and insurance companies were allowed to offer to the public as well as invest in. Gramm-Leach-Bliley removed such barriers ushering in a new era of lending and securitization partially responsible for the easy money that pumped up housing prices this decade.

This is by no means a castigation of Gramm-Leach-Bliley, as such deregulation will, in the long run, help consumers by giving them many more options that wouldn't have existed before. Unfortunately, for the time being, it appears an unbridled financial services industry has been its own worst enemy.

That said, this bill was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on November 12, 1999. It passed in the Senate by a vote of 90 to 8, and 362 to 57 in the House.

Yet, somehow, this is all the Republicans' fault.

As an aside, I am by no means pointing out this bill to blame our current financial woes on Democrats. Instead, I wanted to illustrate how foolish and disingenuous it is to blame it all on Republicans.

LOS ANGELES -- Just days after her release on parole, a former 1970s radical was headed back to prison Saturday to serve at least one more year after corrections officials said a miscalculation resulted in her early release.

Criticism over the early release from prison Monday of Sara Jane Olson, who lived as a fugitive for years in Minnesota, spurred a review of her sentence and the timing of her parole, Scott Kernan, the chief deputy secretary for the California Department of Corrections, said at a news conference. The review revealed that a 2004 miscalculation led to the former Symbionese Liberation Army member being released a year too early, he said.

"The department is sensitive to the impact such an error has had on all involved in this case and sincerely regrets the mistake," Kernan said. Yeah -- woopsie daisy, mf'rs.

He said the review was ordered "after many concerns raised in the media." The union that represents Los Angeles police officers and the son of a woman killed in a decades-old botched robbery at a bank near Sacramento opposed Olson's release. Yes -- but only because she kept on trying to kill the police with car bombs.

Olson, 61, was detained at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday night and told her right to leave the state had been rescinded. She was sent to stay with family in Palmdale, where authorities kept watch outside the house overnight, and was arrested Saturday and imprisoned in Corona, about 50 miles southeast of Los Angeles, Kernan said.

She will be returned to the same prison in central California that she walked out of Monday and will not be eligible for release until March 17, 2009, he said.

Olson's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, called her client's return to custody "ridiculous" and said prison officials caved in to outside influences.

"As far as we're concerned they're bowing to political pressure and they are wrong," Holley said. "It's like they make up all new rules when it comes to her. It's like we are in some kind of fascist state." Ok -- "SHAWN" -- is "fascist" the first word that comes to all 1960's, hippie, pea-brains, when trying to imply the "man is keeping them down?" Are "fascist states" the only ones who imprison criminals who bomb police cars? Shut up, jackass. Go protect some more miserable, murdering, mental midgets with misty eyes - mmmmm.

The Los Angeles Police Protective League, which represents more than 9,000 Los Angeles police officers, said it was relieved that Olson had been returned to prison, but was "far from satisfied."

"Parole shouldn't even be an option for terrorists who are convicted of murdering innocent bystanders and attempting to murder police officers," said the group's president Tim Sands. "Anyone who tries to kill police officers should get significant jail time and serve their full sentence."

In 2001, Olson pleaded guilty to the attempted bombings. She pleaded guilty in 2003 to second-degree murder in the 1975 shooting death of a customer during a bank robbery in Carmichael, near Sacramento.

Last Monday - on ABC Radio National, of all places - there was a tipping point of a different kind in the debate on climate change. It was a remarkable interview involving the co-host of Counterpoint, Michael Duffy and Jennifer Marohasy, a biologist and senior fellow of Melbourne-based think tank the Institute of Public Affairs. Anyone in public life who takes a position on the greenhouse gas hypothesis will ignore it at their peril. (Peril? As if a liberal can be humiliated or embarrassed -- LMAO.)

Duffy asked Marohasy: "Is the Earth stillwarming?"

She replied: "No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you'd expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years." What? Ended 10 years ago? Oh no -- now the media is going to report this relentlessly, every 5 minutes, for months and months and months. Ha Ha Hahahahaha.

Duffy: "Is this a matter of any controversy?"

Marohasy: "Actually, no. The head of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognises that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued ... This is not what you'd expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you'd expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up ... So (it's) very unexpected, not something that's being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it's very significant."

Duffy: "It's not only that it's not discussed. We never hear it, do we? Whenever there's any sort of weather event that can be linked into the global warming orthodoxy, it's put on the front page. But a fact like that, which is that global warming stopped a decade ago, is virtually never reported, which is extraordinary." Extraordinary? To say the least. Perhaps the media has just overlooked it until now -- you know -- big mistake -- soon to be corrected -- yes very soon -- hold your breath.

If Marohasy is anywhere near right about the impending collapse of the global warming paradigm, life will suddenly become a whole lot more interesting.

A great many founts of authority, from the Royal Society to the UN, most heads of government along with countless captains of industry, learned professors, commentators and journalists will be profoundly embarrassed. Let us hope it is a prolonged and chastening experience.

With catastrophe off the agenda, for most people the fog of millennial gloom will lift, at least until attention turns to the prospect of the next ice age. Among the better educated, the sceptical cast of mind that is the basis of empiricism will once again be back in fashion. The delusion that by recycling and catching public transport we can help save the planet will quickly come to be seen for the childish nonsense it was all along.

Every 20-30 years since the late 1800's these climate geniuses change their mind on whether we're having catastrophic warming or cooling -- and every time they change their minds the people blindly believe them again. It's as if people are complete idiots and will believe anything -- the more outrageous it is, the more they will believe it.

But Klown -- why do they believe it?

I think they act as if they believe it and they buy into it so they will appear "up to date" and "in the know." Pathetic, huh? They are afraid to speak their mind for being thought a fool. And college professors are the worst offenders of the group-think knuckleheads. Kinda funny though -- how it works in reverse. You'd think they'd learn -- but they don't.

A Danish group of artists already known for their provocative ads has placed an ad in the government controlled Iranian paper Tehran Times. The ad feigns to be a criticism of Bush, but the capital letters of each sentence under a photo of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad forms the word SWINE.

The editor in charge of Tehran Times, Parviz Esmaili, says to Reuters that the ad will have negative repercussions.

“The group deceived Tehran Times. Unfortunately this will only create more hatred against Danes, even against those who respect other cultures”.
