What do you do when the economy is in a depression?

U.S. budget talks collapsed on Thursday after Republican negotiators walked out, throwing doubt on Washington's ability to reach a deal that would allow the government to keep borrowing and avoid a debt default.

Representative Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House of Representatives, said participants had identified trillions of dollars in potential spending cuts but were deadlocked over tax increases sought by Democrats. More here:

Yes, "Democratics" know what to do ... depending on an existing economic situation.

1 - When you're experiencing a depression ... you raise taxes, increase regulation, and grow the government.

2 - During periods of economic growth, you raise taxes, increase regulation, and grow the government.

Don't worry though.  Remember all those companies that were engaged in ripping you off for years and years?  Well, your government "bailed them out."  Isn't that great?  There they were, about to go bankrupt (as well they should have) when -- TA DA -- the government grabbed your cash and gave it to them.  So, never mind anymore about holding back your money from undeserving companies, that's no longer an obstacle to them so they're doing just fine ... and you?

Geniuses taken by complete surprise on economy

The US Federal Reserve gave a downbeat assessment of the world’s largest economy on Wednesday as it pointed to slower than expected growth and higher inflation.

In the most significant change to its policy statement, it stripped out all reference to “subdued” measures of underlying inflation and said that the economy is growing “somewhat more slowly than the Committee had expected”. (Yes ... unexpected, it's a real stumper.)

The toxic combination of disappointing growth but higher inflation combined to leave no hint that the central bank will consider further asset purchases to stimulate the economy. More here:

Oh woe is us.  No wonder they were taken by surprise ... I mean, what great genius could have predicted this?

It's never enough control for idiot libs

People who hope to beat the summer heat by swimming, floating or boating on rivers in King County must wear a life vest or face an $86 fine.

A divided County Council on Monday passed a personal flotation device ordinance by a five to four vote. More here:

LMAO -- going swimming?  Better get your life jacket on.  How how are the cops going to enforce this with a straight face?  Seriously, how do these people get elected?  Once elected, how do they stay in office?  Are you telling me there are actually people out there who enjoy being shoved around like this?  Good lord.

Klown prediction on Obama's reelection

Some time back a friend of mine told me he thought Obama was going to be reelected.  Can you believe this?  Massive unemployment ... a damn DEPRESSION ... three wars going ... gas prices doubled since he became President, an unpopular health care law ... I could go on and on ... listen to me ... he's done.  There is no way he'll be reelected ... there, I said it ... my feet are in cement.

When he was elected (with a Democrat majority in both houses) I knew the country was finished.  The "Democratics" now (including Obama) are nothing like the Democratics of old.  They are crushing the country as fast as they can using every channel they can to remake the society in their Utopian image.  The thing is, once they succeed at breaking everybody (which they almost have) all that will be left is their apology ... that is to say, "nothing" ... they won't even apologize after they do it ... they'll NEVER accept responsibility for their actions ... it's just part of being a "Democratic."  They'll blame the evil rich for getting richer during the depression (Pelosi) they caused ... THAT'S RIGHT ... the evil rich ... who are always forcing you to do things you don't want to do ... forcing you into their stores ... forcing you to buy their products ... grrrrrr, I HATE the evil rich, don't you?

Anyway, I figured if Obama was elected, the good news would be the country might learn its lesson.  Then, when the Republicans won the midterms I thought ... "maybe."  But what has happened since then?  Anything?  Boehner playing golf with Obama?  Anything else you can point to?  Is he threatening to stop them from raising the debt ceiling? (Answer: No.)  Are the Republicans going on TV every day to say "This is what we're doing to expand your liberty? (Answer: No.)  Do they even APPEAR to have a simple bullet-point agenda? (Answer: No.)

Are they presenting bill after bill to::
  • Cut spending in any significant way?
  • Open up drilling? Cut regulation on new exploration, transportation of fuel, etc etc?
  • Allow school vouchers?
  • Eliminate harmful/political agencies like the EPA, NEA, IRS, etc etc

They need to present these bills about one/two per week until the election and relentlessly be on TV telling the American people they have presented the bills but they have been blocked by the Democratics.  They need to tell the people to dump the Democratics so the Republicans can push through the legislation which will  restore their personal liberty.

But they won't.  Why not, you ask?  Because the leadership are idiots.  I wasn't a Boehner fan to start with but if you recall I decided to withhold judgement for a while ... well, the while is over ... he needs to go.  He's up there playing around with liberty and he thinks he has until the end of time to fix things ... I say "out of the way, jackass, time's a-wastin'."

Hey, as long as I'm running my mouth a hundred miles an hour, let me just continue another mile before I hit the brakes.  Right now* I think I'd like to see Herman Cain and Sarah Palin get elected,  Cain is a Fair Tax and personal liberty guy and I love how he would tell congress to limit their idiotic bills to 3-4 pages ... seriously how many pages you need to say "Don't commit fraud, don't take other people's stuff, don't destroy other people's stuff" etc etc.  What they hell are they doing up there with these massive laws out of the FEDERAL government ... leave the details to the states, asshats.  Sarah is a plain-spoken, small government, personal liberty woman with a strong personality and would be a great asset for Cain ... she is loyal to the end and I doubt she'd stab him in the back like some weaker VP's might when the inevitable and relentless media attacks begin. Sarah is used to it.

Lastly, we need to find a way to jail these politicians that have stolen our liberty for the last 50 years.  They order us around on every little thing ... make us miserable trying to keep up with their idiotic edicts from on high ... stealing from us, our children and grandchildren ... hey, try leaving your leftover social security benefits to your kids if you die early.  They peeled you your whole life and where is the money?  How much would you have in the bank had they left you alone?

It's not enough they reach into our homes and cars and every damn thing else, they want more and more and MORE.  We need to put them on trial for ignoring the constitution.  I say we hold their asses accountable, they need to be confined for such a time until they learn to leave people the hell alone ... THEN they can come out and be part of society again ... and not UNTIL then.

Ok, filibuster over ... now you know what I think.

*(key words ... "right now" there's lots of time between now an the election and there's a lot more to be learned.)

The Supreme Court has been busy crushing libs

Tsk, and the court strikes down yet another attempt by disgusting thieves community minded lawyers to steal and loot from America's largest companies through class action lawsuits.  It seems to me that every third commercial on TV is some lawyer or another encouraging you to sue some corporation or doctor.  Another third is lawyers telling you they can save you from the government/IRS (ha ha -- yeah.)

Aww, that's a shame ... poor old ACORN ... getting itself involved in voter fraud etc etc ... ohhhhh, so unfair, right jackasses?

Blocks "Climate Change" lawsuit (8-0 with Sotamayer recused)
Yes ... more "environmentalists" suing on my behalf (even though I don't want them to sue anyone.) I wish congress would repeal the "standing" these groups have to use my own money to sue me. I guess that's asking too much ... after all, a leech is a leech, what do you expect him to do? Stop sucking blood? I don't McThink so.

"Kissing Couple" Reject Offers, Change Minds.

Report: Couple won't cash in on kiss
NewsCore

Updated Jun 19, 2011 4:55 AM ET

It was the smooch "worth $10 million," but the Romeo who stopped the globe with his kiss amid the Vancouver riots does not want to cash in on it, The (Sydney) Sunday Telegraph reported.

NHL riot kissing bandits
Yes, this really did happen. But there is much more to the story, as the couple explains in an exclusive interview.

Australian Scott Jones made worldwide headlines when he was photographed embracing his girlfriend, Canadian Alexandra Thomas, amid the chaos of Wednesday night's ice hockey riots in Vancouver.

Leading Aussie celebrity agent Max Markson said the global exposure was worth a potential AU$10 million (US$10.6 million), while public relations firm PPR Perth managing director Peter Harris said Jones could have cashed in on the "advertising equivalent of millions of dollars."

"It's a $10 million branding exercise. If you had something he could endorse it would be amazing," Markson said.

But Jones said he did not want the "extra stress," and Saturday turned down the offer of flights to New York to appear on "The Today Show" and "Good Morning America."

Instead the couple will follow through with holiday flights booked for California on Sunday before continuing on to Australia in the coming months.

"It's just too much," Jones said in his only interview, with CBC News Canada, of the talk show offers.

Photos: Chaos in the streets

"We just don't need the extra stress. We are totally booked up for the next three weeks. We have everything planned. We can't change anything."

Thomas added, "We're going on holiday. We've been looking forward to this for months. We're just going to go spend time together."

Freelance photographer Richard Lam took the photo of the couple lying on the road in an embrace amid the chaos, with Jones saying he was helping Thomas after she was knocked down amid the riot.

The riots were sparked by the Vancouver Canucks' loss in the decisive Game 7 of the Stanley Cup to the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
The couple will be appearing on "The Today Show" this morning. What a difference a day an hour or two makes. I wonder what other examples of moral fortitude to which they'll vehemently cling... well for as long as they think other people are watching.

Heh - a couple of good ones

I found these at Bits & Pieces.  I'm guessing the guy with the Glen Beck sign is making serious money off the bleating sheep libs.

"Global Warmers" caught falsifying data ... again

Is climate change raising sea levels, as Al Gore has argued -- or are climate scientists doctoring the data?

The University of Colorado’s Sea Level Research Group decided in May to add 0.3 millimeters -- or about the thickness of a fingernail -- every year to its actual measurements of sea levels, sparking criticism from experts who called it an attempt to exaggerate the effects of global warming. More here:

Well, I just have two questions to ask:

1 - Why did you predict global COOLING was going to cause more tornadoes and hurricanes etc and now you make the exact same predictions for global warming?

2 - Why are the solutions to global warming (mostly stop using fossil fuels) the exact same solutions you told us for global COOLING?

It's as if, no matter WHAT the planet is doing, these people want you to stop using fossil fuels and to give your money to their "green" buddies.  But they want the government to do it ... instead of you doing it through investing in the "green" companies or buying their products.  Yes, funneling your money through the government to the the green companies ... that'll fix everything.

Your feel-good Klown story of the week

An off-duty Chicago police officer dressed up as a clown for a South Side fundraiser shot and killed a teen who held him at gunpoint tonight after the event, authorities said.

The officer, who is assigned to the Near North police district, was in his clown outfit for a fundraiser for a day-care business. The event, attended by a group of 50 children, was near West 87th Street and South Damen Avenue.

At 10:10 p.m. after the event ended, the officer went to his car and a teen approached him, asking him for money, authorities said. When the officer said he had no money, the teen pulled a gun on him, authorities said.

During a struggle with the teen, the officer grabbed hold of the gun, opened fire and killed him. More here:

Man, oh man -- I wish I could see a pic of the shitstain's face at the moment when the clown  pulled the trigger.  Hey, shitstain ... didn't you notice there was something a little "funny" about that clown?  No?  That's unfortunate.

I heard a good quote recently

It was in the context of a friend succeeding at something that can be exceedingly difficult.

I'll try to repeat it as correctly as I can.

"This is easy, all it takes is 100% concentration and focus, 100% of the time."

Idiot judge will tell you how to raise your kids

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (CBS) -- A judge in Corpus Christi, Texas had some harsh words for a mother charged with spanking her own child before sentencing her to probation.

"You don't spank children today," said Judge Jose Longoria. "In the old days, maybe we got spanked, but there was a different quarrel. You don't spank children."

Rosalina Gonzales had pleaded guilty to a felony charge of injury to a child for what prosecutors had described as a "pretty simple, straightforward spanking case." They noted she didn't use a belt or leave any bruises, just some red marks.

As part of the plea deal, Gonzales will serve five years probation, during which time she'll have to take parenting classes, follow CPS guidelines, and make a $50 payment to the Children's Advocacy Center.

She was arrested back in December after the child's paternal grandmother noticed red marks on the child's rear end. The grandmother took the girl, who was two years-old at the time, to the hospital to be checked out.

Gonzales who doesn't have custody of the child or her other two children, is trying to get them back, but until CPS feels she is ready the kids are living with their paternal grandmother. From here:

Hey judge -- aren't you an elected official?  Prepare to be de-elected next election cycle you braying liberal peckerwood.   Wow, talk about buying the liberal horsecrap hook, line, and sinker -- what an idiot.

His term is up on Dec 21, 2012 so they'll be voting on his dumbass next November.  I've already made a note in my day planner to check on the election.  He's in district 214.  After all, we don't want to get amnesia, now do we?

Meanwhile, these liberal jackasses have control over your household ... that's right ... you think you're a free person?  Piss them off and see what happens to your kids.

Totally fair and objective "jourrrrnalist"

CNN host Fareed Zakaria, also the editor-at-large for Time magazine, derides today's conservative movement as out-of-touch and too abstract in a scathing Time article "How Today's Conservatism Lost Touch With Reality." He argues, "Conservatives now espouse ideas drawn from abstract principles with little regard to the realities of America's present or past." More here:

Yes, I can see why he "covered" this, don't you?  Because, let's face it, the people need to know when "news" is happening.  Luckily he's also the editor for a mainstream news magazine so he can smear conservatives bring the important stories to America there too. Good lord, is it just me or is CNN trying to outdo NPR for the most liberal crap-pack of "news."

Hey ... "Fareed" ... how "out of touch were conservatives in the last election?  Is "out of touch" the new libspeak for "they kicked our communist asses?"  If so, then yes ... conservatives are out of touch.  You know what else?  They're going to get farther "out of touch" in the next election, you braying jackass.

Even communists are ahead of the "Democratics" in America

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday challenged the legacy of his powerful predecessor, Vladimir Putin, condemning the centralization of economic and political power at the Kremlin in what was interpreted by some as an early campaign move ahead of next year's presidential election.

"The proposition that the government is always right is manifested either in corruption or benefits to 'preferred' companies," he said.  Oh really?  Who would have thought that could happink?

"My choice is different. The Russian economy ought to be dominated by private businesses and private investors. The government must protect the choice and property of those who willingly risk their money and reputation." More here:

Wow, this guy sounds like one of the founding fathers of the United States.  Meanwhile, the "Democratics" in America are ALL about consolidating power in the central government and managing the economy through the tax code ... you know ... punishing the evil rich, and so forth.  Yes, the "Evil Rich" ... or as President Medvedev calls them "those who willingly risk their money and reputation."  Funny, huh?

So it's not enough that we're getting our asses kicked by the Chinese (capitalistically speaking) now the Russians are going to pass us too. Meanwhile, for the past 50 years the "Democratics" in America have been dragging us in the exact opposite direction ... and all the while saying "we're getting closer and closer to Utopia ... all we need is a little bit more of your liberty and your private property (i.e. money.)

And no matter how bad they screw up our economy they never take responsibility ... no. You know what their answer is? WE NEED MORE GOVERNMENT REGULATION ... AND MORE TAXES ON THE EVIL RICH!!!

Super intellect in Ban Francisco

First kittens, then puppies and hamsters and now goldfish?

San Francisco's Animal Control and Welfare Commission is recommending that the City ban the sale of goldfish, tropical fish and guppies in its borders, according to Matier and Ross. More here:

Really Old Old New Paper Shows Global warming since 1950 was Due to the Sun.

From Dr. David Stockwell's blog, Niche Modeling, comes word that he has submitted a paper for publication showing that solar activity alone explains the observed global warming since 1950, without need to implicate 'greenhouse gases'.
Entire article here.

Of course, we've been blogging about this very same "new" idea since 2007. Weird, right?

Whaaaaa? Electric cars are not so green after all?

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a column for The Week in which I questioned the notion of electric cars being a green option.  My arguments got swift rebuttals from backers of electric cars, but a new study produced in partnership between the British government and the car industry shows just how correct I was.  Not only do electric vehicles produce just as much carbon in their overall cycle as internal-combustion engines, the need to replace the batteries actually makes the less green than current technology (via Jeff Dunetz):
