A feud has begun between the Mayor of Newark, NJ, Corey A. Booker, and Conan O'brien. About a week ago Conan made a joke during his opening monologue; "The Mayor of Newark, NJ wants to set up a city wide program to improve residents health. The health care program would consist of a bus ticket out of Newark." Mayor Booker felt this was an incredible slap in the cities face and immediately placed O'brien on Newark's no fly list.
Well Conan, being the bigger man, responded by banning the Mayor from flying into the Burbank airport. The mayor came back by saying he wanted to bury the hatchet and settle this like men, by having a footrace. And to make matters worse the mayor offered him a helmet in case he falls, this made reference to an accident on Conan's show last Friday in which during a sketch with their guest Teri Hatcher, Conan lost his footing and fell slamming his head on the floor. The hit to the head was so bad that the show had to be canceled and he was sent to the hospital with a concussion.
In a video by Mayor Booker, Conan was informed that after to speaking with all 566 municipalities, he has now been banned from the state of New Jersey. Although this feud, on the side of Conan's show, is just great comedy. Mayor Booker is spending a little to much time on this subject and taking it to extremes that are just plain ridiculous. And even though it has made me laugh, and has become a great week long late night soap opera, it has also brought something to my attention. Not only is NJ a smelly eyesore, but now I know they don't have a sense of humor.

Are you kidding? Do you seriously not realize that the mayor is joking? Do you actually think he called all those cities around the world and had Conan banned? The feud is a joke. Yes, the mayor is reacting to a demeaning joke about his city, but he's doing it with a sense of humor. He has turned a joke about his city into an opportunity for good publicity.
