A northeastern Pennsylvania woman, whose husband is an exotic pet dealer operating on an expired license, was mauled to death by a black bear over the weekend. Yes, it's "relevant" that the guy's license was expired. The jourrrrnalist is probably trying to tell us that a current license would have prevented this tragedy.
Authorities say Kelly Ann Walz, 37, of Ross Township in Monroe County, was attacked by her 350 pound pet bear while cleaning its cage at about 5 p.m. Sunday. Walz had reportedly thrown a shovelful of dog food to one side of the cage to distract the bear while she cleaned the other side, but the animal turned on her and attacked.
This is NOT the bear in question but I'll bet he's just as cute.Walz's children and the neighbor's children saw the attack and summoned help, and the neighbor shot and killed the bear while it was atop Walz, said Tim Conway, an information and education supervisor with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
"Why this woman chose to go in the same area that the bear was in is beyond me. It's a fatal mistake," he said. "These things are not tame animals, they're wild animals." More here:
Wrong, Tim Conway. They're only wild if they're not in cages, dumbass. This was a tame bear. The attack was a bolt from the blue ... no way to have seen it coming ... one in a million I tell ya. You tightasses ... always with the 20-20 hindsight.

small rounded ears, dished face these are traits of the Grizzly bear family. Other ways to distinquish them apart are the prominent hump of the grizzly which is easily seen from a side view and their tracks are different, due to the longer claws of the grizzly and the toes being straighter across than the arched toes of the black bear. Also grizzley skat (I am not talking blues music) usually contains whistles and smells heavily of pepper spray.
