LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former Las Vegas director for a political advocacy group accused of illegally paying canvassers to register voters during last year's presidential campaign has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge and agreed to testify against the group and another employee.
Chief Deputy Nevada Attorney General Conrad Hafen said Wednesday that Christopher Edwards' plea deal strengthens a felony case against the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now and Amy Busefink, a former regional voter registration director for ACORN.
Edwards pleaded guilty this week to two counts of conspiracy to commit the crime of compensation for registration of voters. More here:
Yes, I think ACORN has your best interests at heart, don't you? Sure they do, if you love liberal government involvement in your daily life. You see, they're here to help. They want to help conduct the census. You know, the census they use to determine seats in the House of Representatives. But they aren't interested in the outcome and results ... ohh nooo ... they're just doing it to be nice. Hey ... you know what we should do ?? We should give them a few billion of our tax dollars to help them out.
President Obama’s paybacks to ACORN are seen in his stimulus package, where over four billion dollars have been earmarked for “neighborhood stabilization activities” and available to non-profit entities such as ACORN. Also under consideration is the contracting of ACORN to help in conducting the U.S. census. More here:
