I received this idea from a friend. Bush, needs to resign and Cheney, then would become president and he then picks Rice, for his VP. Cheney, then resigns and then
1st Black and the 1st woman Pres. will be Rice.
Talk about a BALL Buster.

Ragweed, that's the best ideal yet!
LOL @ "in your face." Very funny, however, both houses of congress would have to confirm her and the liberals would NEVER allow it ... and somehow, the media wouldn't see any racism involved.
Prior to ratification of the 25th Amendment in 1967, no provision existed for filling a vacancy in the office of Vice President. As a result, the Vice Presidency was left vacant 16 times, sometimes for nearly four years, until the next ensuing election and inauguration—eight times due to the death of the sitting president, resulting in the Vice President's becoming President; seven times due to the death of the sitting Vice President; and once due to the resignation of Vice President John C. Calhoun to become a senator. Since the adoption of the 25th Amendment, the office has been vacant twice while awaiting confirmation of the new Vice President by both houses of Congress.
The first such instance occurred in 1973 following the resignation of Spiro Agnew as Richard Nixon's vice president. Gerald Ford was subsequently appointed by Nixon and confirmed by Congress. The second occurred 10 months later when Nixon resigned following the Watergate scandal and Ford assumed the presidency. The resulting vice presidential vacancy was filled by Nelson Rockefeller. Ford and Rockefeller are the only two people to have served as Vice President without having been elected to the office.
Well thought out rebuff - although I don't get the "in your face" reference. I would propose the following to make Ragweed's idea come true. If the VP were to get offed, followed soon after by the President, I believe the rules of sucession would then allow the Secretary of State to assume the Presidency. Let's keep this a secret from Hillary.
Of course, Cheney would have a heart attack before getting the chance to appoint Rice leaving Pelosi as President.
It wasn't meant as a "rebuff" -- I just meant to show what might really happen.
The "In your face" reference was supposed to represent the Republicans saying it to the Democrats after installing Ms Rice as presidink.
By the way, do you notice that the media fall all over themselves to call Maya Angelou "Doctor" but they can't seem to apply the same respect to Dr Rice?
And finally, next in line to the presidink would be speaker of the house. (Pelosi)
Vice President
Speaker of the House
President Pro Tempore of the Senate
Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Thank you - I stand corrected. Apparently more "offing" would be necessary.
Jeeez so much for the humor
