US Congress - Men of action

So last night the Klown happened to click on C-Span and the cameras were on the House of Representatives. Some congressman was at a podium and it was a bunch of crap ... "madam speaker blah blah ... yielding time and reserving time ... and the speaker of the house was allowing it all ... The gentlemen reserves his time ... blah blah." And I'm all "WTF?"

Anyway, it turns out that the guy who was speaking (some knucklehead from Florida) was all about a resolution to congratulate some college sophomore who had won the Heisman trophy. After he rambled on and on, he yielded time (or something) and another congressman started talking about the resolution and how he supported it and wasn't everything just grand about this guy who won the trophy.

So I'm watching and thinking -- "this CAN'T be happening in the GD House of Representatives in the United States of America. With all the problems we face, these asshats are up there wasting everybody's time honoring some college kid for a sports award?"

Never mind they're about to go on vacation with neither the house nor the senate passing a single appropriations bill this session. (Last time that happened was fifty or sixty years ago)

I COULD NOT believe it.
Way to go, BRAYING JACKASSES.

From here:
Democrats have even stopped the fiscal 2009 federal appropriations process because they don't want Republicans to propose energy amendments, the ranking minority members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees said on July 25. It would be the first time since before the 1950s that Congress has not passed a single appropriations bill before the August recess ...

By the way "energy amendments" means ...
DRILLING FOR OIL!
