So the president commuted Scooter Libby's jail sentence. The President did not "pardon" Libby so he still has to pay a fine of $250,000 (for what?) and some misc other stuff. Remember - no crime was committed here - the prosecutor already knew who "leaked about Valerie Plame." Yes -- he knew -- but who cares when politics are involved -- just "get the bastards" -- right?

Oh hell yes -- ever since Nixon -- nothing happens in Washington except investigation after investigation -- one party always trying to destroy the other -- nevermind the important problems we face as a nation. But I digress.

Anyway -- the Democrats weigh in on the President's action:
(I love how they are so consistent in their criticisms -- did anyone hear the Republicans bitch up a storm when Clinton pardoned (not commuted) 170 peeps on the last day of his presidency? -- Very brave to wait until the last day, Slick Willy)

Right -- but not when your husband did it -- right, Hillary? I'm glad to see you have such high morals you would never have a double standard ... Bitch.

Right -- but not when Democrats do it -- right? Shiester, slip & fall lawyer.

Yes -- of course -- but where was your big mouth when Clinton did it -- O'Dumba?

Oh sure -- but what about the friends of President Clinton? Clinton pardoned them -- even friends of his brother - who charged them money for it -- got caught -- and had to pay it back? What about those friends, Kerry -- YOU JACKASS.


That's the thing about a Democrat -- their knowledge of history only goes back to breakfast. I could go on and on -- and of course, the Republicans all thought it was the right thing to do.

Here is a list of the people Clinton pardoned (and their crimes) if you're interested. And yet -- nobody (media) blinked -- how about that.

Here's what Ace of Spades suggests:
Suggestion: Bush should have reduced the fine to a more reasonable $50,000, which just so happens to be how much Sandy Berger was fined for stealing and destroying classified documents and lying about it to investigators (he wasn't charged for the latter, but subsequent revelations has made it clear he did just that).

Making the fine $50,000 would have been more in line with Libby's transgressions, and it would have made it harder for Democrats to argue against it. The penalty -- no jail time, $50,000, probation -- would have been so similar to Berger's that one could scarcely mention it without also mentioning Berger.
