GLOBALONEY SMACKDOWN

Biased Idiots

When Team Clinton Was Subpoenaed,
Reporters Found “Hard-Charging Partisans"
Wasting Tax Money "

Ten Years Ago, Subpoenas Drew TV Yawns

From the Media Research Center:
With the Democrats back in power, network anchors are dwelling lovingly on congressional hearings now with liberal stars like Al Gore and Valerie Plame. They've shown no loss of appetite for hearings on the U.S. Attorney-firings scandal, deemed a “constitutional crisis” by NBC Wednesday night.
But ten years ago, when a Republican Congress prepared subpoenas for the Clinton White House on receiving political contributions from China, viewers heard the networks sing a very different tune.

ABC wondered whether subpoenas and hearings weren't democracy in action, but a waste of America's resources. On the April 10, 1997 World News Tonight, anchor Peter Jennings promoted a story: “When we come back, two investigations of fundraising abuse, two of them on Capitol Hill. Is it a waste of time and money?” Reporter John Cochran underlined the problem of GOP partisanship: “Dan Burton is a hard-charging partisan and has resisted investigating anyone but Democrats.”

Pussified basic training??

So I found this post at the "Disgruntled Truck Driver."

Well -- off the top of my head, I remember about 40% washing out of my basic training in the Army. Most of those who dropped out (70%) went to the STC (special training camp -- the drill sergeants called them the Shirley Temple Commandos) and some (50%?) were later returned to basic training ... but they were not returned to the original company. There was LOTS of yelling ... and hitting ... and kicking ... and pushups ... and running ... and bleeding ... and blisters ... and "making holes." In addition, we didna get to wear sneakers when we ran ... or ever.

If you want to see how they've pussified the Navy (videos), checkout DTG's blog.

Pay up ... or the planet gets it!!!

Hey Boris ... I see Beeg trrrouble forrr Moose and Squirrrrel -- and cuddly polarrr bearrrsss.

Well ... I knew it was coming ... I warned you this was going to cost you money ... I saw it on the news today. There I was ... walking my fat ass on a treadmill, when it came on ... "Can America stand a tax for global warming?" I was waiting for a graphic showing a huge gun pointing at the planet ... the gun held by Greenpeace. Instead I had to scour the web for the pic.

You think I'm kidding? -- Click here for the story in Time.

Or .. just Google "Global warming tax."

Our Lovely Girls - The Easter "Bunnies"

They worked all day making Easter baskets for kids, who would not otherwise, get one.

Earl, Joyce, Diana, Bev, Bobbie. -- Thanks ladies.

Al Gore - misrepresents pic (asshole)

Remember this pic?

Turns out, the media and Al Gore (in his new movie) misrepresented the everloving you-know-what out of it. They found the lady who took the pic ... and she wasn't a "Canadian environmentalist."

Go here for the interview on video.

Go Tracy !! -- T. Lynn Ocean

This is my friend, Tracy. She's a big-cheese author now but she sent me a note ... her third book is coming out. She writes mystery stories where peeps keep ending up dead. So far, all her books are set in the south. She's a southern babe -- not a furry-legged feminist. So, if you like mysteries, buy her books.
That guy in the pic with her is also an author -- his book is "Nothin' left to lose." Looks like they were at a book-signing together ... and what red-blooded American male can resist putting his arm around Tracy??

Whaaaa? I haven't heard about this!!

Have YOU heard about this? -- didn't think so.
From Gateway Pundit ...

FYI: Don't Expect Jesse Jackson To Hand a Full Ride To This Rape Accuser
Don't expect the Black Panthers to come to town and threaten the accused.
Don't expect any high profile visits.Don't expect 88 liberal professors to sign a letter in protest.
And... certainly don't expect the U of M Chancellor to cancel the football season!

Another sad story from campus...More rape charges against campus athletes; this time at the University of Minnesota.

The AP reports:
MINNEAPOLIS — Three University of Minnesota football players were in police custody Friday, undergoing questioning after allegations of criminal sexual conduct, the university said in a statement. Coach Tim Brewster immediately suspended the players until the investigation is complete. The allegations come on the eve of the team's spring intrasquad game. The players were identified by the university as Alex Daniels, listed as a 6-foot-3, 255-pound defensive end who came to the Gophers as a highly touted linebacker from Columbus, Ohio; Keith Massey, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback from Columbus; and E.J. Jones, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound running back from Edwardsville, Ill. Daniels and Massey are 20 years old. Jones is 19. A university spokesman said all three are sophomores, but Daniels is listed on the roster as a junior. It appeared they had not been charged with any crime as of Friday night, but they remained in police custody. According to a police report, an 18-year-old woman was raped sometime between late Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The victim, whose name is not being released, was examined at a local hospital. But, don't expect this case to get much play...

Dat crazy, oppressin' Lama

From The News Buckit.

Apparently it isn't Western oppression that's prompting al Qaeda attacks anymore. Or ever.
Security surrounding the Dalai Lama has been tightened after reports of an attempt by the al-Qa’ida-linked terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba to assassinate the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader....In a recent document, Osama bin Laden denounced “pagan Buddhism” as part of his general attack on anything not Islamic. The assassination threat picked up by Indian authorities is thought to be based on bin Laden’s denunciation and the extremist jihadi movement’s hatred for anything and anyone that is not Muslim. Blame the West.

Do you deserve your high school diploma??

I had to look up "autodidact" -- sheesh. They don't tell you which ones you missed.

Autodidacticism (also autodidactism) is self-education or self-directed learning. An autodidact is a mostly self-taught person (also known as an automath), or someone who has an enthusiasm for self-education, and usually has a high degree of self-motivation. Occasionally, individuals have sought to excel in subjects from outside the mainstream of conventional education.

You paid attention during 91% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Captives feared execution

From Drudge:
Yep -- the Klown says these guys were scared.
When I (the Klown) was in the service, I had "Survival, Escape, & Evasion" training. It lasted a few days. Part of it consisted of being taken "prisoner" and taken to a "POW" camp. There, the "enemy" interrogated us and used some fairly extreme methods of "getting the information."

During these times, they would show us our squad leaders and other superiors ... who were kept in another part of the "camp" ... eating good food, smoking cigarettes, playing volleyball etc.. They told us that our "superiors" had "confessed ... given information, etc" so why should we resist. They said we should "confess, etc" and we'd be eating steaks in no time (and this was AFTER they had already starved our asses for 2 days.) I was more-than-a-little-scared in there and I KNEW I wasn't going to be seriously hurt. At the time, I thought it was sort of exaggerated. I guess it wasn't. I'm not making fun of these guys ... I might have soiled my own baggy klown pants.

Marine Joe Tindell, 21, from south London, told BBC News 24 last night: "We had a blindfold and plastic cuffs, hands behind our backs, heads against the wall. There were weapons cocking. Someone - I'm not sure who - said, I quote 'lads, lads I think we're going to get executed'.

"One of the lads heard weapons being cocked. He freaked out and dropped to the floor. He was screaming: 'Lads they are going to execute us.'

"After that comment someone was sick and as far as I was concerned he had just had his throat cut. From there we were rushed to a room, quick photo and then stuffed into a cell and didn't see or speak to anyone for six days."

Marine Tindell said: "The Iranians told us that some of the others had confessed and got more privileges.

Forecaster Blasts Gore on Global Warming
Email this StoryApr 7, 2:55 AM (ET)By CAIN BURDEAU

(AP) Dr. William Gray, a top hurricane researcher, answers questions during an interview in New Orleans,...Full Image.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A top hurricane forecaster called Al Gore "a gross alarmist" Friday for making an Oscar-winning documentary about global warming. "He's one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he's doing a great disservice and he doesn't know what he's talking about," Dr. William Gray said in an interview with The Associated Press at the National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans, where he delivered the closing speech. A spokeswoman said Gore was on a flight from Washington, D.C., to Nashville Friday; he did not immediately respond to Gray's comments.

Gray, an emeritus professor at the atmospheric science department at Colorado State University, has long railed against the theory that heat-trapping gases generated by human activity are causing the world to warm.
Over the past 24 years, Gray, 77, has become known as America's most reliable hurricane forecaster; recently, his mentee, Philip Klotzbach, has begun doing the bulk of the forecasting work.

Read more here:

UPDATE: -- I caught this but I didn't say anything because I am SOOO used to the lefty media. This guy (John at Powerline Blog) caught it too -- and he RAILED on it. I took the liberty of bolding some of the text. He introduces the subject (I skipped that part) and then starts to take it apart. GO HERE if you want to read the intro etc.

........ But watch where the story goes from there. First the subtle demeaning of the distinguished Dr. Gray:

Gray, an emeritus professor at the atmospheric science department at Colorado State University, has long railed against the theory that heat-trapping gases generated by human activity are causing the world to warm.

Gray is implicitly depicted as a crank; he "rails." Note that the hysterical and ill-informed Gore never "rails." Further, Gray "has long railed," which suggests that, rather than being a consistent critic of an unproven theory, he is a tiresome eccentric whose views have been heard and discounted. More on this later.

The AP continues:
Gray's statements came the same day the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change approved a report that concludes the world will face dire consequences to food and water supplies, along with increased flooding and other dramatic weather events, unless nations adapt to climate change.

As we have noted elsewhere, the U.N.'s IPCC is a political body, not a scientific one, and its findings have been subject to withering criticism. But the AP implies that the U.N's report represents a scientific consensus.

Next:
Rather than global warming, Gray believes a recent uptick in strong hurricanes is part of a multi-decade trend of alternating busy and slow periods related to ocean circulation patterns. Contrary to mainstream thinking, Gray believes ocean temperatures are going to drop in the next five to 10 years.

Now it's explicit. The elderly crank who "rails" and disagrees with the U.N. is not part of "mainstream thinking," notwithstanding the fact that, as the AP acknowledges, he is the world's foremost authority on hurricanes.

Now the conclusion: in evaluating media bias, it is always important to see who gets the last word. The AP signs off with a scientist who contradicts Gray's views:

Kerry Emanuel, an MIT professor who had feuded with Gray over global warming, said Gray has wrongly "dug (his) heels in" even though there is ample evidence that the world is getting hotter.

There you have it. Dr. Gray is a fuddy-duddy who "has long railed" and is outside the "mainstream." He has "dug his heels in" and is so out of date that he tries to dispute the obvious fact that the world is currently getting warmer! The AP is telling us that, however distinguished Gray may be, he can safely be disregarded on this issue.

But wait! Does Dr. Gray really deny the "ample evidence that the world is getting hotter"? Maybe the AP reporter just took Emanuel's word for it. Maybe he was too lazy to do any research. Maybe he deliberately misled his readers. Through the miracle of Google--do AP reporters know about Google?--it took me approximately 30 seconds to find this interview of Dr. Gray, in which he talked about whether the earth is "getting hotter":

Q: ... is global warming behind this increase in hurricanes?
Gray: I am very confident that it’s not. I mean we have had global warming. That’s not a question. The globe has warmed the last 30 years, and the last 10 years in particular.

The AP is resorting here to the media's constant trick of misrepresenting the position of those who oppose the global warming theorists. The issue is not whether the earth has recently warmed; it has, by around 7/10 of a degree in the last century. The questions are,
1) to what extent, if any, is that warming (or the cooling that also occurs periodically) caused by human activity,
2) how much warming (or cooling) is there likely to be in the future,
3) what will the net effects, good and bad, of such warming or cooling be, and
4) are the benefits, if any, of reducing CO2 emissions by a given amount worth the costs?

The Associated Press, like nearly all mainstream media outlets, runs interference for the global warming hysterics by misrepresenting the nature of the debate, misrepresenting the positions of those who oppose the hysteria, and subtly (or perhaps not so subtly) suggesting that all who question the anthropogenic global warming theorists can safely be dismissed as cranks.
The klown says ... VERY WELL DONE, SIR.

Tracking the flying imams
By Michelle Malkin · April 06, 2007 09:46 AM

Tim Sumner reports that two of the litigious flying imams "are scheduled to attend a rally in support Rafil Dhafir, who is currently serving 22 years in federal prison for raising millions of dollars and funneling it to “charities” in Iraq through the Holy Land Foundation in addition to diverting $300,000 for his private use. The Holy Land Foundation was closed down in 2001 for providing funds to Hamas."
