Boehner hammers the "Democratics"

(CNSNews.com) – Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) said he’s had enough of environmentalists standing in the way of energy production over the last three decades, remarking, “It’s just about damn time that we ought to have a national energy policy and do something the American people want us to do.”

At a Tuesday press conference on Capitol Hill with several other House Republicans, Boehner was asked about the relationship between high gas prices and investment speculators on Wall Street.

Boehner said, “The price of gas is driven by two factors. It’s driven by supply and it’s driven by demand.  And the fact is, is that supply, most of it, comes from the Middle East where there’s an awful lot of turmoil.  People are concerned about whether that flow of oil is going to continue.”

Boehner continued:  “Secondly, when you look at demand we’re moving into the summer driving season and the [Environmental Protection Agency] EPA requires 30 different blends of gasoline to be produced, now for the summer months in most of the country.  And then to try to produce those 30 different blends and then ship them puts an awful lot of demand on the system as a result.  You’ve got much higher prices.” More here:

How about that - strictly logic and fact.  Easy to understand ... unless you're an idiot lib.  Only took them 30 years to have "had enough."  Good job, boys ... you showed 'em how tolerant you are.

Here's some more for you ... they hate coal and nuclear too.  They love electric cars -- but they block, hamper, regulate, harass, and confound the companies that produce electricity.  See how logical that is?  Of course, just because gas goes up is no sign your electricity, food, etc etc etc will go up, right?  Ha ha ha ha -- keep voting for Democratics.

Man mysteriously bursts into flames

This is not a pic of the guy in the article.  I found this pic here.  And the first paragraph of the story had me laughing and laughing because, whaaaaaa?

Ok, now back to the original story. 

HAVELOCK, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina man is dead after police say he accidentally drank from a jar of gasoline and then smoked a cigarette.

Havelock police received a 911 call about 9:55 p.m. Monday after 43-year-old Gary Allen Banning set himself on fire. Banning was transported to UNC Burn Center in Chapel Hill, where he died early Tuesday morning.

City spokeswoman Diane Miller said investigators believe Banning was at a friend’s apartment when he apparently mistook a jar of gasoline sitting by the kitchen sink for a beverage. After taking a gulp, he spit the gas out and got some on his clothes.

Sometime later, investigators say Banning went outside to smoke a cigarette and burst into flames. From here:

Hmmmm, how tragic.  Someone should make an additive to gasoline so it really smells up a storm ... so that even people who are hammered out of their minds would be able to tell there is gasoline about ... and so extreme caution should be used.

As it is, anyone of us could have been a victim of this most unfortunate accidink.

Also, how come it's never reported when someone lollygags into flames?  Peeps are always bursting into them.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In the Jurassic era, even the flea was a beast, compared to its minuscule modern descendants. These pesky bloodsuckers were nearly an inch long.

New fossils found in China are evidence of the oldest fleas - from 125 million to 165 million years ago, said Diying Huang of the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology. 

Their disproportionately long proboscis, or straw-like mouth, had sharp weapon-like serrated edges that helped them bite and feed from their super-sized hosts, he and other researchers reported Wednesday in the journal Nature.

The ancient female fleas were close to twice the size of the males, researchers found, which fits with modern fleas.

But Engel said it's not just the size that was impressive about the nine flea fossils. It was their fearsome beak capable of sticking into and sucking blood from the hides of certain dinosaurs, probably those that had feathers.

These flea beaks "had almost like a saw running down the side," Engel said. "This thing was packing a weapon. They were equipped to dig into something."

 It shouldn't seem too surprising that there were large fleas more than 100 million years ago. If you go back even farther in time, ancestors of dragonflies and damsel flies had 3-foot wingspans, Engel said. More here:

"Democratics" are at it again -- man, do they hate guns or what?

Iowa House Democrats this morning left the Capitol in protest of two gun bills the Republican majority had planned to debate today that critics contend would make the state part of the “Wild, Wild West.” 

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy accused House Leader Linda Upmeyer of failing to properly inform legislators about planned debate today on the bills. 

The short notice hindered Democrats from offering amendments to improve the bills, McCarthy said. But Upmeyer, R-Garner, shot back this morning that Democrats did have adequate warning, and suggested their flight from the Capitol was an attempt to make a political scene. 

 “Iowans didn’t send us down here just to do easy stuff,” she said. “The Second Amendment is a question that many Iowans would like placed before them. I don’t know why they’re afraid to have a debate on a subject just because they don’t like the subject. That seems ludicrous to me.” 

One bill would alter the state constitution to specifically include gun rights. Another would rewrite the law on “reasonable force” so that a person may use force — including deadly force — against someone who they believe threatens to kill or cause serious injury or who is committing a violent felony. “

Ever notice ... "Democratics seem to have a HUGE problem with common sense.

(Upmeyer) said they will debate those bills today whether we like it or not,” said McCarthy, D-Des Moines. “I told her that we’ve been double crossed, and we will not be debating those bills today.” 

 In response, Democrats have moved to an undisclosed location. 

Republicans hold 60 of 100 seats and could debate the bill without Democrats since they have a quorum. The majority party sets the calendar for debate and guides the course of business on the House floor. 

“We have been double-crossed as a caucus, and we’re not going to sit back and be treated with historic misuse of power,” McCarthy said. More here:

Right, meanwhile "Democratics" have no problems shoving things down your throat with a 51-49 vote ... but 60-40?  No way ... "Historic misuse of power."  Funny, huh?

And the thing is, this law doesn't force you to do anything ... it just expands the freedom of the people.  Democratics don't like that, nossir.

What is the definition of irony?
Isn't It Ironic? The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.Meanwhile, the Park Service asks us to "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

Short story (true)
Yesterday while having a cold beer at a local bar our current Pres. came on the tv. During the following conversation the guy next to me complained about our current economy and so on. I asked if he had voted for Obama and he said he did and I then asked if he would vote for him again. His answer was yes "he would have to". I ask why did he have to and his answer was he has always voted democrat (let me add here he was approx.72 y.o.a.) and he would continue. I ask why not vote for someone who could be better than the current politicians we have now.
Well no answer came and he turned to the guy on the other side and started taling about the upcoming daytona race. I could go on here but like his vote it would be a waste on time.

Rich Americans get robbed - impossible to have predicted it

(CNN) -- Twenty-two Carnival Cruise Lines passengers were robbed of valuables and their passports during a shore excursion in the Mexico seaside resort of Puerto Vallarta, cruise officials said late Saturday.

The passengers were robbed Thursday during a guided trail excursion, according to a statement released by the cruise line.

The cruise line did not provide details of the robbery, saying only that there were no injuries and the tour was suspended on future sailings under further notice.

The robbery comes two weeks after the U.S. State Department issued a travel warning to Americans to avoid all but essential travel to all or parts of 14 Mexican states, including the state of Jalisco. Puerto Vallarta is the sixth-largest city in Jalisco. More here:

Registering Tim Tebow and Tom Brady to Vote in Minnesota

CHEYENNE — State representatives on Friday advanced legislation to launch a study into what Wyoming should do in the event of a complete economic or political collapse in the United States.

House Bill 85 passed on first reading by a voice vote. It would create a state-run government continuity task force, which would study and prepare Wyoming for potential catastrophes, from disruptions in food and energy supplies to a complete meltdown of the federal government.

The task force would look at the feasibility of Wyoming issuing its own alternative currency, if needed. And House members approved an amendment Friday by state Rep. Kermit Brown, R-Laramie, to have the task force also examine conditions under which Wyoming would need to implement its own military draft, raise a standing army, and acquire strike aircraft and an aircraft carrier.

The bill’s sponsor, state Rep. David Miller, R-Riverton, has said he doesn’t anticipate any major crises hitting America anytime soon. But with the national debt exceeding $15 trillion and protest movements growing around the country, Miller said Wyoming — which has a comparatively good economy and sound state finances — needs to make sure it’s protected should any unexpected emergency hit the U.S.

Preparing for the worst?  Or should that be "preparing for the inevitable?"  If this country keeps electing our intellectual betters and driving the country further and further into debt/financial chaos then I think it's obvious and inevitable that the country will break down.  Of course, I'm not a genius.

Anyway, what is Wyoming thinking about?  Everyone knows geniuses never have to apply common sense and preparedness.

Very rare ... green company squanders easy-gotten loot

A123 Systems, an electric car battery company once touted as a stimulus "success story" by former Gov. Jennifer Granhom, D-Mich., has laid off 125 employees since receiving $390 million in government subsidies -- but is still handing out big pay raises to company executives.

"[T]he company has laid off 125 employees and had a net loss of $172 million through the first three quarters of 2011," the Mackinac Center for Public Policy reports, observing that the company's primary customer, Fisker Automotive, is also struggling financially. " More here:

Yes, the cronies of the politicians and lobbyists know how to fill out the paperwork and get your money so they can give giant salaries and bonuses to their buddies ... and contribute back to the politicians who help them.  Awesome.

The big shocker is how these technologies don't work and the companies go broke ... cuz who on earth could have predicted that?  (Apparently not our intellectual betters.)

Authorities say a man was arrested after he dropped his gun during a robbery and returned to the scene to try and buy it back from the victims. 

Cedrick Mitchell, 39, faces charges of armed home invasion and resisting an officer, according to online jail records. He is being held without bond in Manatee County Jail. Police said Mitchell entered a motel room and asked for pills from the two men inside. When they responded that they didn't have any, Mitchell took out his gun and told the men "everything you got," according to the Bradenton Herald.

Mitchell dropped his gun when the men began to fight with him, police say. One of the victims sprayed him with pepper spray and Mitchell ran away, authorities said. He returned to the motel room minutes later and offered the men $40 in exchange for the gun he dropped, the Herald reported.

He was pepper-sprayed in the face again. Police found Mitchell when he was running away. He has a criminal history that includes robbery and battery, according to the newspaper. From here:

IRS experiencing "snafus" etc

Last month, the IRS said there would be a week delay for the earliest filers because of a computer snafu in getting up a system to find identity theft before refund checks were actually issued.

The federal agency said those people filing after Jan. 26 would not have delays.

But the agency continued to have a slower response partly because they had a backlog from the earliest cases being delayed, tax preparers said. More here:
