I just want everyone to know, my rep voted "NO" on the health care bill that just passed the House.

The vote was 220- Yes and 215-No. Don't you just love how they can ram this shit down your throat with a five-vote difference? So 51% of the people can vote to install a massive, permanent, government program ... against the wishes of the other 49% ... and then make the other 49% pay for it along with the 51% . Yep, sounds EXACTLY like what the founding fathers had in mind, the tyranny of the mob.
Let me ask you something. Do you think the states would have ratified the original Constitution if they thought for one second that the federal government would get this powerful and seize power like this? This is why the founders set out to severely limit the power of the federal government to certain "enumerated powers" in the Constitution.
The Democrats/libs/commies like to point to the general welfare clause in the Constitution to justify massive taxes and power grabs like this. I mean, think about it ... why in the hell would they go through the trouble of enumerating the powers if they were just going to trump the whole thing with the general welfare clause?
If that is so, then why did they write the entire Constitution? Why didn't they just write "Congress can do anything it damn well pleases as long as it's for the general welfare of the people." There you go, a one sentence Constitution. Do you think the several states would have ratified that? You have to be an idiot liberal to have logic like that. Dirty rat bastard commies.

Rep. Fred Maslack (Vermont State Rep.)
UPDATE: THIS IS AN OLD STORY - An anonymous commenter said it was a hoax so I checked it out. Then I posted an update with "This is a Hoax" in the first line.
Another commenter said it was just old so I checked further and it appears that is correct (just old.) So I removed the "This is a hoax" statement. Anyway, I'm not going to work any further on this and you'll do your own research if you're smart. Thanks to "cachick1111" and everyone who cared enough to post a comment. Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack has read the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as well as Vermont ’s own Constitution very carefully, and his strict interpretation of these documents is popping some eyeballs in New England and elsewhere. Maslack recently proposed a bill to register non-gun-owners and require them to pay a $500 fee to the state. Thus Vermont would become the first state to require a permit for the luxury of going about unarmed and assess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun. Maslack read the “militia” phrase of the Second Amendment as not only affirming the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as a clear mandate to do so. He believes that universal gun ownership was advocated by the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a “monopoly of force” by the government as well as criminals
Vermont’s constitution states explicitly that “the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State” and those persons who “conscientiously scrupulous of bearing arms” shall be required to “pay such equivalent.” Clearly, says Maslack, Vermonters have a constitutional obligation to arm themselves so that they are capable of responding to “any situation that may arise”. Under the bill, adults who choose not to own a firearm would be required to register their name, address, Social Security Number, and driver’s license number with the state. “There is a legitimate government interest in knowing who is prepared to defend the state should they be asked to do so,” Maslack says Vermont already boasts a high rate of gun ownership along with the least restrictive laws of any state – it’s currently the only state that allows a citizen to carry a concealed firearm without a permit. This combination of plenty of guns and few laws regulating them has resulted in a crime rate that is the third lowest in the nation.

Average intelligence has its drawbacks
NEILSVILLE, Wis. — The call came into the 911 dispatcher: "I don't want to hurt anybody. I'm drunk." And with that, Mary Strey, 49, of Granton, reported herself as a drunken driver about three miles northeast of Neilsville in central Wisconsin.
Clark County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jim Backus said Monday that Strey's call on Oct. 24 led deputies to cite her for misdemeanor drunken driving with a blood-alcohol level double the legal limit to drive. She makes her first court appearance Dec. 10.
Backus said drunken drivers reporting themselves is rare.
In the 911 call, Strey said she wanted to report a drunken driver and the dispatcher asked if she was behind the suspect vehicle. "I am them," Strey said. She then followed the dispatcher's advice to pull over and turn on her flashers, telling him she had been "drinking all night long." From the Associated Press:

Officials said cuts in water service were to be staggered throughout Caracas through the duration of the current dry season, which is not expected to end until May 2010.
Weather forecasters blame the "El Nino" weather phenomenon, saying the periodic weather system has markedly reduced rainfall and created drought conditions.

Genius captured, impresses judge
WOODSTOCK, Ill. (CBS) ― If you flip someone off in traffic, you might get angry stares or a nasty honk of the car horn, but if you do it in court, expect much more severe consequences.
A McHenry County man found that out the hard way.
Kane Kellett, 24, raised his middle finger while he was being sworn in to face home invasion charges at a rights hearing, the Daily Herald reported. He also hurled profanity at Judge G. Martin Zopp.
Zopp promptly gave Kellett six months in jail for contempt of court.
Kellett was wanted on charges of aggravated battery and assault. He is accused of attacking two people, including a pregnant woman last month in Crystal Lake, Deputy Police Chief Dennis Harris told CBS 2.
He is accused of punching the woman in the face and kicking her in the ribs after she fell on Oct. 13. He is also charged with a home invasion on Oct. 14, in which he forced his way in by kicking down a door to a multi-family home in Crystal Lake, battered a resident with a flashlight, and fled once police were called, Harris said.
Kellett was on the McHenry County Sheriff's Top 10 Most Wanted List and was described as "armed and dangerous" before he was arrested Friday night. From cbs2chicago.com

I read the story ... there is a dearth of information about their "appeals." I guess that's what they meant by "vigilante court." I did a small amount of research trying to find out if this "vigilante" stuff was actually legal at one point but I never made the determination ... although, it was VERY common in the late 1800's. It seems every town with a dirt road had official "vigilantes." I shall do more research on this in the future and report to you on just WTF the story is.
Also, I was too lazy (at first) to look it up ... but wtf with "kick away old fellow?" Hadn't they learned about the proper "drop" necessary to do away with all the kicking and struggling? Sheesh. Perhaps that was part of the punishment/entertainment. I wonder if they ever played "Pinata" with them.

Instead of everyone falling the same standard distance, the person's height, weight and strength[4] were used to determine how much slack would be provided in the rope so that the distance dropped would be enough to ensure that the neck was broken but not so much that the person was decapitated.
Prior to 1892, the drop was between four and ten feet (about one to three metres), depending on the weight of the body, and was calculated to deliver a force of 1,260 lbf (5,600 newtons or 572 kgf), which fractured the neck at either the 2nd and 3rd or 4th and 5th cervical vertebrae. However, this force resulted in some decapitations, such as the famous case of "Black Jack" Tom Ketchum in New Mexico Territory in 1901. Between 1892 and 1913, the length of the drop was shortened to avoid decapitation. After 1913, other factors were also taken into account, and the force delivered was reduced to about 1,000 lbf (4,400 N or 450 kgf). The decapitation of Eva Dugan during a botched hanging in 1930 led the state of Arizona to switch to the gas chamber as its primary execution method, on the grounds that it was believed more humane.

I LOVE TEXAS !!
Yes, Texas ... I think Ron White said (paraphrasing) "While all the idiot libs are trying to do away with the death penalty, Texas has put in an express lane." And what do these violent, murdering, jackasses, have to say just before we dispatch them to hell? Here's a couple of samples:
I remember reading this before (and probably posting it) but Texas is killing these fucksticks faster than than a lib calling in sick when he/she hears a protest is going on in their neighborhood. Yeah, I know, lame metaphor ... but i hate libs. You can click here for the rest of the long list.
IMPORTANT: It is better to read the "Offender Information" before reading their last statement as it tells you their prior record as well as gives you a summary of the crime for which they are dying. It makes for MUCH better entertainment than the statement alone. I give you these tips because I care and you can always count on the Klown to enhance your entertainment value whenever possible.
I really like the whining/sniveling "you're killing an innocent man" ones.
