They missed an opportunity to sell night-vision technology. Also, it would have been better to let the bad guy actually enter the house before offing him an a manner which would allow the libs to toss your raggedy ass in prison for life.
However, if you allow the producers some editorial license you can sit back and enjoy it for what it is ... a memorable/effective TV commercial.
