SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) - A California high school girl's softball coach has apologized for requiring eight players who struck out during a recent game to drink soda pop out of a team member's shoe, a school district official said.
The South Tahoe High School varsity players drank the soda at a team slumber party on May 1, hours after a game against Wooster High School of Reno, Nev.
"It was meant as a joke, and obviously it went too far," Lake Tahoe Unified School District superintendent James Tarwater said.
A parent complained about the incident and coach Anneliese Neitling has since apologized, Tarwater said. It was a young coach's mistake and the matter will be addressed during Neitling's postseason evaluation, he said.
"People learn from mistakes," Tarwater said. "She does a good job pulling the team together, morale-wise and support-wise." More here:
Ok ... wait just a dang minute. Let me put this all together. A woman's athletic coach .... mmm hmmm. A team slumber party ... mmmm hmmmm. Drinking from a shoe .... mmmm hmmmm.
Nah, that's just me being paranoid ... it all sounds like good fun to me. Hey, I wonder if they had to drink the soda from a sneaker they wear at the games or if the coach had them all wear spikes to the slumber party.
Leave it to the libs to get the outrage going though. My guess is they'll need to go ahead and make sure everyone wears sandals from now on ... you know ... to make sure this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!!! That's how libs do it ... they ensure they address the sole of the problem ... no pussy-footing around.
