Politics: Was what Al Gore called "the largest global entertainment event in all of human history" also the largest in-kind political contribution? And where's the Fairness Doctrine when you need it?
Considering that here in the U.S. the Peacock Network's three-hour Gore infomercial on global warming lost out in the ratings to "Cops" and "America's Funniest Home Videos," Gore's claim may be open to question. Live Earth, in fact, may have been America's funniest home video. Ever.
But thanks in large part to the 75 hours of free airtime that NBC gave Gore on its various stations, starting with NBC and including CNBC, Bravo, the Sundance channel, Universal HD and Telemundo, Gore may now be the 800-pound gorilla this political season.
Interviewing Gore from the site of the concert in New Jersey, Curry gushed:
"A lot of people want me to ask you tonight if you're running for president. And I know what you're answer is gonna be, believe me. I gotta ask you though. After fueling this grass-roots movement, if you become convinced that without you there will not be the political will in the White House to fight global warming to the level that is required, because the clock is ticking, would you answer the call? Would you answer the call, yes or no?"
Shut up Ann Curry, you braying sycophantic jackass.
Where are the libs crying for "fairness" now?
When a conservative appears on talk radio, liberals cry for the Fairness Doctrine. Seventy-five free hours for Archbishop Gore's Church of Climate Change? Not a peep.

Political correctness to start with the killing
Undercover agents trick NRC, get license to buy radiological material
WASHINGTON - Undercover federal agents were easily able to fool the Nuclear Regulatory Commission into providing them with a license to obtain radiological material that could be used to make a dirty bomb, NBC News has learned.
The undercover agents, who work for the Government Accountability Office, filled out forms online and were able to obtain an NRC license to buy several radiological "sources," according to several sources familiar with the GAO report. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly.
Within four weeks, the NRC mailed a license to the undercover GAO officials, who had posed as a construction company based in West Virginia and never needed to leave their offices to get the license. The NRC only called the phony company once, and never conducted a site visit, the GAO report says. The license would have allowed the GAO undercover team to buy moisture-density gauges, which are used in the construction field and contain sealed radioactive material.

Hmmmm -- The Klown wonders thinks political correctness is behind this somehow. The Klown KNOWS there is political correctness behind "profiling" -- so officers of the law are handicapped in their ability to nab terrorists.
The Klown makes a prediction ... political correctness will kill you, or someone you know very soon.
The Klown makes another prediction -- you'll sit there -- chewing your cud when it happens -- you'll do nothing about it. Baaaaaaa.

"Showing him in a dress was dispicable crime"
In the name of Allah, and all praise is due to Allah, and may peace and prayers be on the Messenger of Allah and on his family, companions and allies. Muslim brothers everywhere: peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
(Yes -- peace be upon the Klown too -- right -- Mohammed?)
I talk to you today on the occasion of the criminal aggression carried out by Musharraf, his army and his security organs - the Crusaders' hunting dogs - against Lal Masjid in Islamabad, and on the occasion of the dirty, despicable crime committed by Pakistani military intelligence - at the orders of Musharraf - against Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi when it showed him on television in women's dress.
Hey -- JACKASS MUSLIM -- I guess his donning a dress in order to escape punishment was perfectly OK though -- RIGHT -- JACKASS? Loosen your fucking turban, Mohammed. The Klown thinks your blood ain't a-circulatin' through your melon just right. Sheesh -- if you ask me, you ALL look like you're wearing dresses all the time anyway -- some have veils -- some don't.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television.
"I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another Islamic law, that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said.

Remember this weird-ass case?
Pizza delivery man Brian Wells just before his explosive collar blew up and killed him. Wells was allegedly locked into a bombing device by a stranger and ordered to rob a bank branch outside Erie, Pa., Aug. 28, 2003. When he was detained by state police following the robbery, the bomb exploded, killing him instantly.Sources say the indictments will center on a former high school valedictorian with bipolar disorder who is believed to be the ringleader of a bizarre Pennsylvania bank robbery gone bad. What remains vexingly unclear is whether pizza-delivery man Brian Wells was involved in the plot in any way.

Why can't America be as efficient
This jackass was a high government official. He cheated the people in his country -- he took bribes in exchange for his official approval. He was caught. He had a trial in May. He was executed in the first part of July.
The Klown loves it -- the dirty rat-bastard got just what he deserved. I wonder what they would have done if they caught Sandy Berger destroying classified documents in their national archives? Or if they caught William Jefferson with $90,000 wrapped in tin foil in his freezer? Meanwhile, in America, they roam free. This country is so broken.

China on Tuesday executed its former chief food and drug regulator for taking bribes to approve medicines, in an apparently draconian warning to other officials after a series of scandals about the quality of Chinese products.
The execution of Zheng Xiaoyu, 62, was confirmed by state media after the Supreme People’s Court approved the death sentence on charges that he took Rmb6.5m ($855,094) in bribes from eight pharmaceuticals companies. Mr Zheng is the most senior central government official to be executed since 2000 and the harsh penalty and swift enforcement, after an initial trial in May, underlines mounting government concern about the scandals that have damaged the reputation of Chinese products.
Mr Zheng was accused of approving the sale of six medicines that turned out to be fakes during his seven-year tenure as head of the State Food and Drugs Administration. In one case, a gallbladder medicine containing the wrong ingredients is believed to have led to the deaths of at least five people.

Laugh at THIS, jackass
Going out with a laugh:Death Row inmate wants a joke to be his final statement.
A man scheduled to be executed tomorrow for the fatal shooting of his neighbours almost 16 years ago wants to tell a joke as part of his final statement from the Texas death chamber gurney.
Patrick Knight, 39, has been considering dozens of jokes he has received in recent weeks after soliciting them to try to comfort his friends on death row.
Knight said he got the idea for a joke as his last statement after a friend, Vincent Gutierrez, was executed earlier this year and laughed from the death chamber gurney: "Where's a stunt double when you need one?"
Oops, too late. He's already dead:
Texas Inmate Executed; Doesn't Tell Joke.
When the moment came, Knight thanked God for his friends and asked for help for innocent men on death row. He named several he said were innocent. His voice shaking and nearly in tears, he said, "Not all of us are innocent, but those are."
After expressing love to some friends, he said, "I said I was going to tell a joke. Death has set me free. That's the biggest joke. I deserve this."
"And the other joke is that I am not Patrick Bryan Knight and y'all can't stop this execution now. Go ahead, I'm finished."

Shocker - Idiotic law gets idiotic results
Unbeknownst to her mother, the girl used a deactivated cell phone to call dispatchers 287 times in June—sometimes as often as 20 times a shift.
Dispatchers heard the child's voice but could only track the phone's signal to the apartment complex.
So authorities used a ruse to pinpoint her.
"We asked (the caller) what she wanted. She said she wanted McDonald's," said Steve Cordes, executive director of QuadCom's emergency center, which covers Carpentersville.
"We talked with her and we convinced her if she told us where she lives, we would bring her McDonald's," he said. "She finally gave us her address. So we sent the police over—with no McDonald's."
After police arrived, the girl's mother took away the phone, Cordes said.
Under federal law, deactivated cell phones still must be able to access 911. Many deactivated phones will contact an emergency call center if the user holds down the nine key.
Dennis Miller - Snippets of wisdom
Hey, folks, tonight's random thoughts on various issues.Looks like they found evidence of water on Mars, but unfortunately, they also found a sucker fish in water, so we're not allowed to study it any more.
Do you know why I'm no longer liberal? Because I wanted to stop my sentences one word short of the word "but." You know, as a liberal, I found myself using the word "but" more frequently than a proctologist filling out his day planner.
Let's see, maybe it's time for a Democratic president. Stay with me. Because the next step in the inevitable escalation in this war with radical Islam is going to involve us being appreciably more brutal and ruthless than we have been to date. And I think the left's cronyism with the mainstream media will provide cover for someone on that side of things to up the ante.
You know, I'm pretty sure the phrase life is too short doesn't exist in Islam.
Castro, Castro is one true genius at keeping Cuba so far down that a Category Four hurricane can hit the island head on and they still suffer almost no property damage.
You know, the interesting thing about diversity training is that 99.9 percent of the people who are ordered to take it are white.
They say that Wal-Mart will be the death of small town America. If small town America is so great, why is every third person in Hooterville hooked on meth?
To all the eco-nuts out there, I can't worry about the earth right now. I'm too worried about the world.
Hillary Clinton can afford to decry rich people at every turn. She's been on the public's dime since the dawn of man. She's had all the trappings of wealth without all the messy earnings that it takes.
You know, the Saudis are just the grown up equivalent of your childhood imaginary friend.
I'm toying with the idea of turning all of my money over to the state of California, because theoretically, I'd have more access to it as petitioner than I do as the actual proprietor.
Once again, let me proclaim that my main reason for being pro-choice is that I am not a fetus that's about to be aborted.
And lastly, just as the Titanic ramming the iceberg led to the obvious practice of having enough life boats for all the passengers, fighting a politically correct war in Iraq will remind us that you only, only fight wars to win.

4th of July - Did you know this?
Fifty-six brave men made history in Philadelphia 231 years ago.
Most Americans know basic information about the most famous of these men. Most know that Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. Most know that John Hancock signed his name large enough so that the king of England could read it without his spectacles, and that other patriots like John and Samuel Adams were there. Some even know that Ben Franklin said, "We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we will all hang separately."
But what about the other 51 signers? Who were they? Their names may be forgotten, but their sacrifices live on as powerful testimonies of the price that was paid to found this country. The stories of all 56 men can be found in the book Greatness to Spare by T. R. Fehrenbach, but I believe the best examples of sacrifice come from the signers from New York and New Jersey.
In late 1776, the British captured New York City. They found out which New Yorkers were in the Continental Congress and immediately pursued them.
Francis Lewis was not at home when the British arrived, but his wife was. The British captured her and treated her brutally. Even though she was eventually set free, her health had deteriorated so much that she died shortly after release.
Philip Livingston's houses were occupied by the British and his family was forced to flee. His health failed, and he did not live to see American victory.
William Floyd’s possessions were stolen and his property destroyed. Floyd's wife died before the war ended.
Lewis Morris also lost his house and property. Morris owned about 1,000 acres of forestland, which the British clear-cut.
The signers from New Jersey did not fare any better.
John Hart's wife was on her deathbed when Hart was forced to leave her side to escape. He lived as a fugitive. The British offered him a pardon if he would simply surrender and swear allegiance to the Crown. He refused. When he was finally able to return home, his wife was dead and his thirteen children were missing. He never found all of his family again and died soon thereafter.
John Witherspoon's house was plundered and his library of more than 300 books was burned. His son was also killed in the Battle of Germantown.
Richard Stockton evacuated his family, but he was recognized by a British sympathizer. The British arrived, captured him and looted his estate. Stockton was eventually released, but he was in poor health. It was not long before he died.
Two of Abraham Clark's sons served in the army. Both were captured, brutally treated and even starved. The British offered to release his sons if he deserted the American cause. He refused. Thankfully, both of Clark's sons were eventually released alive.
The commitment that the Signers possessed can be summed up by Thomas Nelson, a Virginia signer who lived in Yorktown. Throughout the war, he donated money, food and horses to the military. In 1781, the British General Cornwallis was trapped at Yorktown. Nelson was on the front lines and noticed that the Americans were bombarding everything except his house, which was being used as a British headquarters. Nelson ordered that the cannons be lowered and that his house be leveled to the ground. The resulting onslaught killed several officers, and days later, the British surrendered. But America never repaid Nelson, and he died bankrupt.
Greatness to Spare finishes with a moving summary:
Fifty-six Americans pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.
It was no idle pledge. Nine Signers died of wounds or hardships during the Revolutionary War.
Five were captured or imprisoned, in some cases with brutal treatment.
The wives, sons, and daughters of others were killed, jailed, mistreated, persecuted, or left penniless. One was driven from his wife's deathbed and lost all his children.
The houses of twelve Signers were burned to the ground. Seventeen lost everything they owned.
Every Signer was proscribed as a traitor; every one was hunted. Most were driven into flight; most were at one time or another barred from their families or homes.
Most were offered immunity, freedom, rewards, their property, or the lives and release of loved ones to break their pledged word or to take the King's protection. Their fortunes were forfeit, but their honor was not. No Signer defected, or changed his stand, throughout the darkest hours. Their honor, like the nation, remained intact.
Because of their actions 231 years ago, some of the 56 men lost their lives. Some lost their fortunes. But not a single man lost his honor. So as we celebrate today, remember the stories of the brave men who declared our independence and remember the price they paid so that we could live free.

The Klown was reminded today -- that conservatives are always outnumbered. Even in the days of the Bill of Rights, the majority of people didn't want independence from Great Britain. Such and same are the liberals of today ... promoters of appeasement ... fairies ... frozen in ineptitude ... content to be ruled by political correctness and prepared to allow other men to take their liberty from them ... or be defended by stronger, more resolute men ... either way, adrift in a sea of mediocrity ... and happy to be there ... jackasses.

Another Triumph For Socialism
Yep! here we have another success story (scroll down) for socialism in today's Atlanta Urinal and Constipation.
Zimbabwe enforces price-cuts mandate
Inspectors and police raided stores in Zimbabwe on Sunday to enforce sweeping price cuts imposed to curb soaring inflation. At least 20 business executives were arrested over the weekend for hoarding goods and violating the government's order last week to slash prices of most products by half. Gasoline prices were ordered reduced by 70 percent, and stations quickly ran dry. Zimbabwe has the world's highest inflation, with an official rate of 4,500 percent —- but independent financial institutions calculate real rate is closer to 9,000 percent.
Whoda thunk it? You put an artificially low price on gas and you run out. I've seen this movie before. We tried price controls during the administrations of Nixon, Ford, and Carter and guess what? They didn't work! They never do!
You cannot repeal the Law of Supply and Demand, although socialists throughout the brief history of socialism never seem to let that fact penetrate their mushy brains. Price controls do not work. They're discovering that in Iran. Maybe if they pray long enough to their moon god Allan he can figger out a way to get around that pesky economic law.
As an aside, I think we should launch a cruise missile and take out Iran's lone oil refinery. Then, they would have to import all of their gasoline. If Aramalamadingdong thinks the rioting over gas shortages is bad now, it would really get bad then.
It won't be too much longer until Hugo Chavez competely destroys Venezuela's economy. But it won't be his fault. He'll just blame it on Jorge Bush.
But back to Zimbabwe. I'm not shedding a tear. Let 'em starve. Mugabe was a known socialist. He was elected in free and fair elections. Just ask Jimmah Carter. Mugabe took over a rich country and bankrupted it. A country that used to be a bread basket that exported food is now a starving basket case that has to import food. He can thank his land "reforms" for that. Confiscate successful farms from whites and give them to illiterate peasants. How's that working out, Bob?
Yannow what? South Africa is considering implementing those same "reforms". The ANC is a socialist party. They're running South Africa. I wonder how long it will be before they destoy that country?
I'm not shedding any tears for Zimbabwe. When Venezuela and South Africa go down the shitter I won't shed any tears for them either.
Socialists never learn.

Wanna bet on who gets nominated??
McCain’s futures contract has plummeted in just one week from around $12 to below $6 at InTrade.com. The contract, which can be redeemed for $100 if McCain gets the nomination (and is worthless if he does not), once sold for nearly $60. By this measure, he trails Giuliani and Thompson, who trade above $33, and Romney at $20. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is now close behind McCain at $3.
Go here to make yer bets ... hey have the Dems also.
