Woman with red mohawk shot ... mistaken for bird

Note: This isn't the woman in the story, it's just a random red-mohawk-woman I found on the intertubes. I posted it to give you a visual of how the mistake could have been made.

A Colorado man was sentenced to five years' probation after accidentally shooting a woman whose red mohawk he mistook for a fowl that had been harassing his cats.

Derrill Rockwell, 49, told police that he grabbed his .22-caliber rifle and set out from his home Oct. 5 to fire at the bird after spotting it at the top of a hill about 90 feet away, the Daily Sentinel reported Friday.

"His intent was to spook it away," Deputy District Attorney Jason Conley told District Judge Richard Gurley on Friday, according to the newspaper.

But after shooting at the bird, the man said he noticed it didn't fly away and he reported hearing a woman moaning in pain.

Rockwell soon discovered that he had shot a 23-year-old woman in the head, mistaking her red mohawk for the menacing bird.

Conley reportedly told the judge that the woman may have passed out from alcohol before being shot. Police officers also found a bag of suspected methamphetamine near where she was shot.

The woman survived the shooting, but has since moved from Colorado and could not be reached by the newspaper Friday.

Rockwell was sentenced to serve five years probation after pleading guilty to felony possession of a weapon by a prior offender, the newspaper reported.

"In 15 years in law enforcement, this was one of the more interesting cases I’ve worked," Grand Junction Police Department detective Sean Crocker told the judge, according to the newspaper. From here:

American Idiot ... oops, I mean "genius"

MARCH 29--The comedian Roseanne Barr last night tweeted the home address of George Zimmerman’s parents to her 110,000-plus Twitter followers, only to delete the posting after “not fully understanding that it was private not public.”

Barr’s posting of the correct Florida address of Robert and Gladys Zimmerman came at the same time Spike Lee was issuing an apology for erroneously disseminating a tweet that purportedly contained the home address of George Zimmerman, who last month killed teenager Trayvon Martin.

The residence cited by Lee is actually the home of an elderly couple with no connection to Zimmerman.

Barr, who deleted her tweet in the face of criticism from some Twitter followers, noted that she first thought it “was good to let ppl know that no one can hide anymore.” More here:

Funny isn't it ... idiots libs never let their level of understanding get in the way of taking action.

Hey, Roseanne, I sure hope you get the justice you so richly deserve.

The "Democratics" just keep stealing your money and your liberty

With the country focused on this week’s high drama at the Supreme Court, President Obama’s EPA quietly released long-delayed regulations to apply global warming rules never authorized by Congress to new coal-fired power plants.

That Obama’s EPA would release a rule to destroy coal-fired electricity while the president gives stump speeches about an “all of the above” energy policy is an insult to the American people.

This rule will effectively block any new coal-fired power plants from being built in America, and a second round of related rules – expected after the election, of course – will shut down existing coal-fired power plants.

The result will be steeply higher electricity prices, lost jobs, and lower standards of living. Remarkably, this is all done in the name of global warming, but even EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson admits it will have no discernible impact on global temperatures. More here:

Right, because he (and the Democratics) want to drive up energy prices to force you to use less ... and to teach you a lesson because you don't do it voluntarily. But we still have plenty of coal plants, right? And the US has plenty of coal with which we currently generate 50% of our electricity ... right?

Wait ... what about THIS?

Obama Energy Secretary Steven Chu has launched the next phase of the White House’s publicly stated agenda to bankrupt the coal industry via EPA regulations after announcing the prospect of “massive” coal plant closures even as Texas and other states suffer rolling blackouts as a result of maxed-out power plants that cannot cope with demand. More here:

And THIS?
FirstEnergy Corp. on Thursday announced it is retiring six coal-fired power plants, including four in Ohio, because of stricter federal anti-pollution rules. More here:

It's hysterical, the Democratics are succeeding in killing America ... and there are many, MANY, people who aren't capable of understanding that it affects them and their families.

I love it when drug makers get my hopes up

MELBOURNE, Australia - Taking sick days is set to get tougher -- there may be a cure for the common cold.
Australian drug maker Biota Wednesday reported the stunning success of its antiviral compound, named Vapendavir.

Tested in 300 asthmatic patients infected with the cold-causing human rhinovirus, the clinical trial showed that cold symptoms eased quickly and the duration of the infection was shortened considerably.

Patients given a placebo experienced the worst cold symptoms at 2.5 days, whereas those dosed with Vapendavir began rapid recovery after just 1.7 days. More here:

Well, so you get a "0.8 day" advantage? Hmmmmm. Or, once you start getting better then you're cured? And don't have to suffer the week-long recovery of a normal cold?

Do you hear a clock ticking? Yes a lib is about to learn a lesson.

The arm of Robert Biggs. (Trevor Warner/Paradise Post)

Story from the Paradise Post:

A Paradise man says he is lucky to be alive after an attack by a mountain lion Monday morning.

Robert Biggs, 69, often hikes in the Bean Soup Flat area, which is about a mile and a half above Whisky Flats. He came across a mother bear, a yearling and a newborn, which were about 40 feet from where he was standing.

After watching the bear family for a few minutes he decided to leave them be and turned to walk back up the trail. As he turned, a mountain lion pounced on him grabbing hold of his backpack with all four paws.

"They usually grab hold of your head with all four paws, but my backpack was up above my head and (the mountain lion) grabbed it instead," Biggs said. "It must have been stalking the little bear, but it was on me in seconds."

He wrestled with the cat, striking it in the head with a rock pick. The cat screamed when it was hit with the pick, but didn't let go, Biggs said. Before he knew it, the mother bear came from behind and pounced on the cat, tearing its grip from the backpack.

The bear and the cat battled for about 15 seconds, Biggs said, until the cat finally ran away. The bear went on its way as well. Biggs ended up with bite marks, scratches and bruises to his arm, but was otherwise uninjured.

Biggs, a naturist, has hiked that same trail several times and has seen the mother bear and its cub last spring and fall. He said the encounters with the bears were friendly.

"(The cub) stood up on its hind legs and put its paws up and I got to play patty-cake with it," he said.

LOL - "I 'got to' play patty-cake with it." Sounds like a 9-year-old. "Ooooo, ooooo, I got to play patty-cake with a bear." What a moron.

The patty-cake game was simply touching the bottom of its paw with his open palm, more like a high-five. He said the mother watched the two play and her only reaction was to call the cub back. Biggs said he is certain that the mother that saved him during the mountain lion attack is the same bear he has seen in that area before.

"They're pretty territorial," he said, adding that he recognized some of the bear's markings. Though his arm was pretty cut up, he chose not to go to the doctor, a move that concerned his wife Suzanne.

"There were puncture wounds and skin was hanging off, and you don't know what's in their paws," she said.
Biggs said he wasn't worried because he had a tetanus shot a couple of years ago. Biggs simply put peroxide on his wounds and expects that will be enough.

LOL - "... puncture wounds and skin hanging off ... " This is how nature teaches libs attempts to teach idiots libs.

As for lessons learned, Suzanne quipped, "He doesn't learn." (Standard for libs)

Biggs just chuckled at the comment. The incident isn't going to stop him from enjoying the Ridge's wildlife.

Yes, tick tock ... tick tock. He'll be the last to understand why the "friendly bears" kilted his ass in a grisly manner. As the mauling starts he'll be thinking "What, but I thought we were friends?"

The "Democratics" try to spin the defeat of Obamacare

“The Affordable Care Act is a bipartisan plan and one that we think is constitutional,” Deputy White House press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Wednesday afternoon.

"Bipartisan" yes. And what does "bipartisan" mean?

bi·par·ti·san/bīˈpärtəzən/

Adjective:
Of or involving the agreement or cooperation of two political parties that usually oppose each other's policies.
Oh really? So both parties agreed, right? Is that what he's saying? Well, then, let's just take a little trip back to the voting results, shall we?

No Republican voted for the Affordable Care Act on final passage.

He also referred to the individual mandate as the “individual responsibility” clause of the bill, in an attempt to distance the administration from the term individual mandate.

Oh, shut up you idiot. LoL "personal responsibility." But, wait a minute, the government is making you do it ... yes, the POLAR OPPOSITE of personal responsibility. I love how the "Democratics" tell a lie straight to our faces and expect us to believe it.

I guess they didn't learn anything from the 2010 elections. Of course, the inability to learn is part of the nature of an idiot-lib.

Hey, Josh Earnest, we'll be giving you "Lying Communists" "Democratics" another lesson this fall ... and it will be sweet.

Anyone else notice the ironing in this guy's name ... "Josh" (a synonym for joking) and "Earnest" (a synonym for sincere/forthright.) A jokingly sincere person. Yep, a lib.

Today's Quote:
Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a free cell phone with free monthly minutes, food stamps, section 8 housing, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe and some Air Jordan's, and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.

My thoughts about Obamacare and the Constitution

So Obamacare is in front of the Supreme Court this week. You know, Obamacare, the law the helpful "Democratics" shoved down your throat passed with every Republican voting against.

That's right, all huge laws that effect the freedom of every single person in the country should pass on partisan votes right? Hey, majority rules, assholes. I think it passed the house by 12 votes ... out of 435. Can you imagine? Something this big being decided by a relative handful of morons -- probably lawyers? Unreal.

Anyway, Obamacare forces every individual to buy insurance (individual mandate.) And if you don't, there's a penalty. Ok, got that?

Obama felt so strongly about the issue that he even cut an ad attacking Clinton for her support of the individual mandate. "Hillary Clinton's attacking, but what's she not telling you about her health care plan?" the April 2008 ad asked. "It forces everyone to buy insurance, even if you can't afford it, and you pay a penalty if you don't." More here: (Gee, he sure makes that sound bad, doesn't he?)

Well, there it is, one of the hallmarks of the idiot-libs. Tell the sheep whatever they want to hear, get elected, and then start with the tyranny.

Yes, yes ... ever notice? Idiot-libs MUST always be telling you what to do. They must ALWAYS be picking your pocket helping and "guiding" you to the new society they envision ... whether you want to go or not.

You'd think they would go and build their vision by themselves and then show everyone how great it is ... thereby luring new converts (and the concomitant monetary support) through the substance of their results. Yes, that would be logical ... but you'd be wrong. This is not how idiot-libs get money. Idiot-libs get money by using the power of government to take it off you, you greedy bastard.

So what about Obamacare? (I mean aside from the blatant hypocrisy Obama shows in the video.) You may recall from your school days that the federal government was designed to have very limited power. Why? Because the framers of the constitution KNEW there would always be idiot-libs assholes who would steal your freedom if they could (for your own good of course.) So they gave the government specific powers in the constitution. (Scholarly types call them "enumerated" powers.) And they reserved the rest to the states and/or people.

But Obamacare is a law that forces you to buy something you may not want ... just because you are alive. I don't agree that the government should be allowed to force you to buy car insurance either but at least you don't have to buy it if you don't own a car. Obama wants to force you to buy health insurance (but only if you're alive.) So the crux of the biscuit is this, if they can force you to buy something just because you're alive, then what limits are on the government? Answer? None.

Looks like we're not the only ones to see this. It seems the Justices in the Supreme Court have picked up on this. Tsk tsk, the idiot-libs were hoping the justices wouldn't notice ... drat the luck.

Justice Antonin Scalia asked the flailing Solicitor General Donald Verrillii: "Could you define the market? Everybody has to buy food sooner or later, so you define the market as food, therefore, everybody is in the market; therefore, you can make people buy broccoli."

Chief Justice John Roberts queried: "So can the government require you to buy a cell phone because that would facilitate responding when you need emergency services?"

Justice Samuel Alito jabbed: "All right, suppose that you and I walked around downtown Washington at lunch hour and we found a couple of healthy young people and we stopped them and we said, 'You know what you're doing? You are financing your burial services right now because eventually you're going to die, and somebody is going to have to pay for it, and if you don't have burial insurance and you haven't saved money for it, you're going to shift the cost to somebody else'. Isn't that a very artificial way of talking about what somebody is doing?"

Worst of all for Obamacare supporters, Justice Anthony Kennedy, always viewed as the swing vote on the court, sounded like one of the most sceptical of all. "The reason this is concerning, is because it requires the individual to do an affirmative act," he said at one point. "In the law of torts our tradition, our law, has been that you don't have the duty to rescue someone if that person is in danger. At other junctures he asked "Can you create commerce in order to regulate it?" and "So the Federal government says everybody has to join an exercise club?" More here:

Yes, in order for them to twist use the commerce clause (an enumerated power) to justify their position, they must assume they have a right to create commerce out of thin air and then regulate it. That doesn't appear to be flying with the justices.

Braying jackass arrested (finally)

Hashim Nzinga

A New Black Panther Party leader who announced a $10,000 reward for the capture of the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed Florida teen Trayvon Martin was arrested Monday outside Atlanta for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, DeKalb County Sheriff’s office said. More here:

Sweet, now if we can get the other jackasses arrested, that would be great. All the people who are riling up the morons on false pretenses should be arrested and tried. The "reverends" Al Not-so-Sharpton and Jesse Jackasson come to mind.

Oh, also, how about the prominent Hollywood jackass, Spike Lee?

Oh yes, Spike heard that Mr. Zimmerman had to go into hiding because of the aforementioned jackasses ... so he decided to "help" justice along by tweeting Zimmeran's whereabouts. So thoughtful and righteous of this crapstain, don't you agree?

Unfortunately, it was the wrong address. (More here:) Spike Lee had to apologize. Ha ha, gotcha ... geniuses idiot-libs never apologize over something like this, they're too busy apologizing for America.

The part I like best is Spiky's total disregard for the innocent lady who really lives there. I mean, why should he care, right? Someone with a half a brain might have thought about the looming potential for error in action like this. Will they arrest the idiot? Or will he go free to pursue more idiocy?

Anyway, Spike, Jesse, Al ... I certainly hope you all receive the justice you so richly deserve.

Obama doesn't give one flaming damn what you think

(Reuters) - The Obama administration proposed on Tuesday the first ever standards to cut carbon dioxide emissions from new power plants ...

The Environmental Protection Agency proposed the long-delayed rules that limit emissions from all new U.S. power stations, which would effectively bar the building of any new coal plants. More here:

Yes, because it's not enough he's got gasoline up to $4 per gallon, nooooo. Must keep blocking drilling, refining, and transportation ... and when we can't block it altogether, we'll put onerous regulations on them. We'll make the energy companies pay so much to comply with the rules that it makes the production of their energy unprofitable ... ha ha ha ... THAT will teach them.

But, does Obama realize this will make energy costs go up ... and by extension ALL costs go up? Let's see what he says in his own words, shall we? Yes, I think we shall.

Well, you have to hand it to him. He told us what he was going to do and he's doing it. Never mind he hasn't got a chance in hell at being reelected, this is his (and the "Democratics') one shot and he's taking it ... full speed ahead and the hell with your wallet.

Government, once again, watching your money very carefully

LAW, SHUCKS: Andres Perez is part of a city-funded program teaching people to break into vacant properties.

Picture the Homeless, a Bronx nonprofit that has received at least $240,000 in taxpayer money in the last five years, is giving a crash course on squatting — and city-owned buildings are a prime target.

Two weeks ago, board member Andres Perez held a teach-in on how to wrest “control” of vacant apartments. He called it “homesteading.”

“The best time to enter a building is in the late hours,” he advised a group of about 20, who gathered in front of the half-empty East New York housing complex Arlington Village.

“You make sure you have your proper tools. You remove the chains and padlock, and then you go in.”
He then led them through the next steps — including filling out a change-of-address form at the post office and setting up utilities. After that, “nine out of 10 times the courts will allow you to be able to have control of the property,” he said. More here:

That's right, jackasses, we're stealing your money. And after we steal it we use it to teach scumballs how to steal your property ... and it's all "legal" see? Yes, cutting off chains and padlocks and entering property which doesn't belong to you is so legal that "nine out of 10 times the courts will award you control of the property." Oh yes, this makes plenty of sense.

LMAO, this crapstain doesn't have a job so he makes up his own ... and he makes you pay him. And his job is stealing more of your money and property.

And how does this happen? Because government morons just shovel your cash out the door without so much as a second thought, that's why. They think they're "doing good" with your money ... because, hey, asshole ... what were YOU going to do with the money anyway? Probably just throw it away on some unnecessary gasoline or something.

Isn't government great? How about our justice system? No need of reform whatsoever, right?

I just love it when someone takes money from me and then, instead of being grateful and putting it to good use, uses my own money and resources to do me more harm.

That's what's so great about idiot-libs ... they think they'll be able to continue this behavior forever and the stupid public will never wise up. I must admit, so far they've been right.

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Tsk, we're going to have to steal your money, sorry about that

The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) has made it official: After its latest two day meeting, it announced its goal to devalue the dollar by 33% over the next 20 years. The debauch of the dollar will be even greater if the Fed exceeds its goal of a 2 percent per year increase in the price level.

But, an increase of 2% a year over a period of 20 years will lead to a 50% increase in the price level. It will take 150 (2032) dollars to purchase the same basket of goods 100 (2012) dollars can buy today. What will be called the “dollar” in 2032 will be worth one-third less (100/150) than what we call a dollar today.

The Fed’s zero interest rate policy accentuates the negative consequences of this steady erosion in the dollar’s buying power by imposing a negative return on short-term bonds and bank deposits. In effect, the Fed has announced a course of action that will steal — there is no better word for it — nearly 10 percent of the value of American’s hard earned savings over the next 4 years.

Why target an annual 2 percent decline in the dollar’s value instead of price stability? Here is the Fed’s answer:

“The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) judges that inflation at the rate of 2 percent (as measured by the annual change in the price index for personal consumption expenditures, or PCE) is most consistent over the longer run with the Federal Reserve’s mandate for price stability and maximum employment. Over time, a higher inflation rate would reduce the public’s ability to make accurate longer-term economic and financial decisions. On the other hand, a lower inflation rate would be associated with an elevated probability of falling into deflation, which means prices and perhaps wages, on average, are falling–a phenomenon associated with very weak economic conditions. Having at least a small level of inflation makes it less likely that the economy will experience harmful deflation if economic conditions weaken. The FOMC implements monetary policy to help maintain an inflation rate of 2 percent over the medium term.”

In other words, a gradual destruction of the dollar’s value is the best the FOMC can do.
More here:

In "other" other words, the government has ruined the value of our currency by printing up trillions of dollars out of thin air (but nobody could have predicted this) ... and instead of facing up to the consequences of it now, they prefer to stretch the crushing over 20 years (or more) ... you know ... so the idiot frog doesn't notice the water heating up.

LMAO, they're stealing your (and your children's) money and freedom and what do you do? Why, you vote "Democratic" of course. After all, "Democratic" is good ... right? Yes, they're for the little guy.

Armed racist guns down teen for no reason (as per usual)

ORLANDO - A witness we haven't heard from before paints a much different picture than we've seen so far of what happened the night 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed.

The night of that shooting, police say there was a witness who saw it all.

Our sister station, FOX 35 in Orlando, has spoken to that witness.

What Sanford Police investigators have in the folder, they put together on the killing of Trayvon Martin few know about. The file now sits in the hands of the state attorney. Now that file is just weeks away from being opened to a grand jury.

It shows more now about why police believed that night that George Zimmerman shouldn't have gone to jail.

"The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: 'help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911," he said.

Trayvon Martin was in a hoodie; Zimmerman was in red. More here:

What? But how can that be?

The media has been telling me all along that Trayvon was just a young all American kid who only wanted to get some skittles. And then, lo, he was gunned down for no reason ... that's right, no reason at all ... by a RACIST, no less. See? It all sounds perfectly logical to me, how about you?

That's right gunned down for no other reason that the color of his skin. Ask the New Black Panthers (who have issued a "Wanted dead or alive" poster for Zimmerman.) That's what I love about idiot libs and race baiters, even when the premise is absolutely ridiculous, there is no suspicion in them ... absolutely no reason to investigate before taking their usual moronic position.

Something tells me we STILL don't know all the facts in this case.

The media points out how George Bush sounds like an idiot

Can you imagine the media relentlessly mocking George Bush had he done this? Yes, I think you can.

Funny how it takes the foreign media to point this out, don't you think? Yes, it probably just eluded the American media this time ... quite a coincidence. From The Weekly Standard:

Those funny Californians ... Always leading in the "stealing your freedom" action

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — City Council members were one step closer on Wednesday to becoming the first in the nation to adopt a resolution condemning certain types of speech on public airwaves.

Councilmember Jan Perry introduced legislation this week that would call upon media companies to ensure “on-air hosts do not use and promote racist and sexist slurs” on radio and other broadcasts.

Members of Black Media Alliance, National Hispanic Media Coalition, Korean-American Bar Association, and American Indians in Film and Television were on hand to voice their support for the proposal. More here:

Yes, by all means, let's get with the banning, shall we? Idiot-libs just LOVE to ban things ... with the possible exception of abortions. But never mind those, the idiot-conservatives have that base covered.

And with the very popular groups above supporting the move, it must be correct, right? I think I recall seeing a recent post on this blog about "appeal to authority" or something. Notice how the idiot-lib jourrrrnalist ensures you know who supports the bill (the "authorities") but somehow ... mysteriously ... leaves out anyone (or group) that objects.

That's probably why they call themselves "objective" ... because they object to anyone having a different viewpoint than they.

Anyway, what? They want to further restrict free speech? What a shocker this is. Ever notice? Idiot-libs REALLY hate it when you disagree with them..

No, seriously, and they want to take your money and livelihood for it (and they'd jail you if they could get away with it) ... because who do you think you are ... disagreeing with them? Hoowwwww, DARE you?

And the libs know how to do it, they just write laws about it. Hey, majority rules, right? (It would if they had their way.) They claim the "airways are public" and therefore are subject to speech restrictions. How they made this connection is beyond me, really ... because what does "public" have to do with the right to say what you want? Why can't people change the channel if they don't like it? Too much trouble?

Little by little, idiot-libs are stealing your freedoms right from under your nose. Smell anything?

"A gold standard wouldn't solve any problems ..."

(Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Tuesday took aim at proponents of the gold standard, saying that such a system handicaps the government's ability to address economic conditions.

Yes, exactly ... that's one thing it does for sure ... it keeps you gd idiots from screwing around so much with the economy and inflation. THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID "IDIOTS."

Bernanke spoke in the first of a series of four public lectures at George Washington University that is the central bank's latest effort to counter a raft of negative public sentiment that has arisen from its handling of the financial crisis. The former Princeton economics professor delivers a second lecture on Thursday and two more next week.

Princeton economics professor ... oh really? Well, he's much smarter that the framers of our constitution because those morons actually had the audacity to write in the constitution that “[No State shall] make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts;“ ...

Now why would they feel compelled to do that, heh? I'll tell you why, because they knew there would be morons like this from their time until Christ comes back ... that's why they wrote that ... to prevent you and morons like you from making mischief in the money supply.

Notice they didn't actually prohibit paper money ... their intent was to prohibit the government from making "money" that was not backed by precious metals ... i.e. fake/fiat money.

Some Fed critics argue that the central bank's ultra-easy monetary stance - it has held overnight interest rates near zero since late-2008 and has bought $2.3 trillion in bonds - is paving the way for future inflation.

Oh really? "Some" argue this? Only "some?"

How long do "others" say we can keep buying our own debt like this? Forever? Because when they have to finally stop, it's going to hurt ... bad.

"Since the gold standard determines the money supply, there is not much scope for the central bank to use monetary policy to stabilize the economy," Bernanke said. "Under a gold standard, typically the money supply goes up and interest rates go down in a period of strong economic activity - so that's the reverse of what a central bank would normally do today."

Yes, the reverse. Sounds very familiar. You libs are always telling us the "reverse" of the truth.

"The gold standard wouldn't help."

"Drilling for more oil wouldn't help."

It's a good thing we have our intellectual betters telling us what to think ... otherwise we would be so easily fooled.

A Lib does math.

Video: Woman can't explain miles-per-hour

The smug left strikes again.

I found this proudly posted on someone's Tumblr account. It should go without saying that Tumblr is infested with Libs. This image clearly states "See? What we've been saying about Fox being biased has been right all along and here's your proof".

Unfortunately, the Left is not only unfamiliar with examples of Logical Fallacies but also with the possibility that they exist at all.

The Appeal to Common Practice is a fallacy with the following structure:
 1. X is a common action.
 2. Therefore X is correct/moral/justified/reasonable, etc.
The basic idea behind the fallacy is that the fact that most people do X is used as "evidence" to support the action or practice. It is a fallacy because the mere fact that most people do something does not make it correct, moral, justified, or reasonable. More HERE.
Also, the appeal to popularity:

Description of Appeal to Popularity

The Appeal to Popularity has the following form:
 1. Most people approve of X (have favorable emotions towards X).
 2. Therefore X is true.
The basic idea is that a claim is accepted as being true simply because most people are favorably inclined towards the claim. More formally, the fact that most people have favorable emotions associated with the claim is substituted in place of actual evidence for the claim. A person falls prey to this fallacy if he accepts a claim as being true simply because most other people approve of the claim. More HERE.
There you go all you "sheep" on the Right, those on the Left "who think for themselves" have once again proved how foolish you are. FACE.

This guy gave me things to think about

I read a post by rdbrewer over at The Ace Of Spades blog. These are some excerpts from his excellent article. You can read the rest here.

Recall the Dunning-Kruger effect. In short, a person’s incompetence inhibits their ability to recognize his or her incompetence. The people who think they are the smartest are the dumbest, essentially, because they are blind to their stupidity. The people who think they know better know the least. And isn't it interesting that they are almost always the first to hurl the insult "you're stupid"?

Anyway, I was reading about the police busting OWS people and closing Zuccotti Park today, and it occurred to me that there is a variation on the Dunning-Kruger effect that has to do with other forms of self-awareness. Several examples:
 • Doesn't it follow that the people who regard themselves as the most open-minded are in fact the most close minded? Their errant self-view causes them to be blind to how close-minded they are. Progressives in many institutions like academia, for example, talk endlessly about diversity while at the same time denying, marginalizing, and shutting-up voices on the right. Conservative professors don't get tenure. Conservative voices on campus are shouted down and silenced by left wing perma-children. A more specific example: Andrew Breitbart was often called a fag by the most wonderful people in the world.
 •
 • Doesn't it follow that the people who think they're making the world a nicer place are the ones who are making it worse? They have a blind spot for their own bad behavior. A specific example: Al Gore and energy usage. Gore wants to make the world a better place by decreasing reliance on fossil fuels. (Assume for a moment he actually believes his bullshit. I don't think he does.) While having a bigger carbon footprint than anyone else on the planet, with the exception of the president... who at least has an excuse.
 •
 • Doesn't it follow that the people who think they are the best suited to lead others would often be the least suitable/capable to do so? Here's a quick example: One of the creepiest people I ever knew sought out positions of authority on ethical panels. He had to be one of the least ethical, least well-suited people to serve in such a position, but he thought he was fantastic, and very well-suited to judge the behavior of others. A friend quipped, to paraphrase, "The type of people who seek out positions of authority like this are usually the people you would least want to serve in those positions." We agreed that it's almost as if we should automatically eliminate anyone who volunteers for a such positions and recruit from those who do not.
 •
 • Doesn't it follow that the people who are the most selfish would believe themselves to be the most selfless? They want people to give more, to pay more taxes... so they themselves can have a bigger slice of the pie. Their self-view disables their ability to reality-test. Ever hear of a progressive avoiding a tax dodge? Related, doesn't it follow that the people most interested in redistribution of wealth would give the least? I recall reading an article about ten years ago that surveyed charity giving on a state-by-state per capita basis. Or maybe it was as a percentage of income. Anyway, the "flyover states" were the most giving. The least? Massachusetts. Followed by the usual suspects.

But keep writing laws for the rest of us ... that'll be great

Well now, let me just, like, take the time to, like, LOL at this "student." I hope he's in his first year or something because he has a ways to go, expecially if he's going to be like, an officer.

Who is Thomas Sowell?

Thomas Sowell
Rose and Milton Friedman Senior Fellow
The Hoover Institution
Stanford University
Stanford, California 94305

Thomas Sowell, (oops, sorry, ... DOCTOR Thomas Sowell) has written a new book ... "Intellectuals and Society." I heard him discussing it in an interview the other day and decided to look him up and learn more about him. Turns out, he's a black guy.

You like what I did there? You'd never have known he was a DOCTOR unless I had told you. Oh, you might have guessed/discovered it sooner or later but it's not mentioned on the front of his webpage ... unlike lefties who cannot WAIT to tell you that some knucklehead or other is a "doctor" ... you know ... so you can quickly determine that a college degree means "smart."

I never would have suspected he was black just by hearing him speak. Naturally, the lefties will be calling him an Uncle Tom. My guess is he's used to it, being in academia and he's about 80 years old. The whole "Uncle Tom" thing is prolly a real yawner to him.

Anyway, as I was perusaling his website, I ran across a page of his favorite quotes. I copy/pasted some below.

The study of history is a powerful antidote to contemporary arrogance. It is humbling to discover how many of our glib assumptions, which seem to us novel and plausible, have been tested before, not once but many times and in innumerable guises; and discovered to be, at great human cost, wholly false.
--Paul Johnson

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
-- T. S. ELiot

There is no safety for honest men but by believing all possible evil of evil men.
--Edmund Burke

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
-- C. S. Lewis

A ruling intelligentsia, whether in Europe, Asia or Africa, treats the masses as raw material to be experimented on, processed, and wasted at will
--Eric Hoffer

The intellectuals and the young, booted and spurred, feel themselves born to ride us.
--Eric Hoffer

Nowhere at present is there such a measureless loathing of their country by educated people as in America.
--Eric Hoffer

We shall not grow wiser before we learn that much that we have done was very foolish.

Relax -- there is no inflation

Excerpts from here:

A good friend of mine, who has family living abroad, called me this weekend. One of the first things out of his mouth was about his sister in London and how she was dealing with “terrible inflation.” No doubt he was talking about the spike in gasoline prices that have risen to more than $8 a gallon. (The official inflation rate in the UK is around 3.6%, but I’m sure the numbers over there are as reliable as the inflation numbers in the U.S. where fuel and food are not counted in the so-called “core” inflation.)

What? The price of food and gas isn't counted? LMAO! Of course not, after all, they don't affect the economy in any way, do they?

Part of this price spike is due to Iran cutting off crude oil shipments to the EU recently, but part of it is the fact the UK has been engaging in quantitative easing (QE), or money printing, to help its ailing economy and insolvent banks. Just in the last few weeks, it announced another $50 billion in QE. The UK is not alone as most Western countries are engaging in QE to prop up an insolvent system bloated on bad debt.

According to millionaire investor Jim Rogers, the Fed has already started its third round of QE. In an interview on Reuters, last week, Rogers said, “We already have QE3 … Get out the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet. You’ll see that they’ve been pumping up – you can see unadjusted M2 is going through the roof. Look at their balance sheet. … All sorts of assets are suddenly appearing on their balance sheet. Where did they come from? They didn’t come from the Tooth Fairy; they came because they’re in there buying in the market as fast as they can. There IS QE3 already. They don’t call it that but it’s there.”

Objective jourrrrnalists let you know what to think

Ha ha, I LOVED it when the crapstain jourrrrnalist said that high gas prices were creating jobs. Aren't you grateful for the media? They're like a rock ... grounded in their principles. They aren't one bit biased, nossir. Baaaaa - Bleat.

It's too funny the media think they're fooling anyone. What's that? Oh, right ... actually they ARE fooling idiot-libs some people. Found it at Moonbattery:

Of course I support Obama, I'm a socialist ...

Bold is mine:

Supermodel Elle Macpherson told shock jock Howard Stern Tuesday that she's pulling for Barack Obama to be reelected.

"I’m living in London and I’m socialist," she told her host. "What do you expect?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

HOWARD STERN: Who should be the next President of the United States Elle MacPherson, go ahead.

ELLE MACPHERSON: I think Obama’s going to do it.

STERN: You like Obama?

MACPHERSON: Yeah, I’m living in London and I’m socialist. What do you expect?

STERN: And you’re living in London and you sense what other foreigners feel. Do they like him?

I almost forgot ... "to be liked" is also very important to libs. It's part of their holy grail, to be perceived as cool and smart. They are the farthest thing from cool and smart (and they know it,) that's why this image is so crucial for them.

MACPHERSON: I think foreigners like him. He’s very popular.

STERN: Don’t we look good having a black president and everything? Makes us kind of cool. From Newsbusters.org:

LOL, yes ... and the idiot-lib criteria permeates all they do. "Makes us kind of cool" ... and you know how critical "coolness" is to an idiot lib. All things revolve around it.

This is so pathetic. Reminds me of high school where certain kids would abandon their values do ANYTHING to hang out with the cool kids. Their lives revolved around it. I guess they grew up to be libs. It sure seems to me this drive they have makes them easy prey.

Attorney General Eric Holder "We must brainwash people about guns"

Breitbart.com has uncovered video from 1995 of then-U.S. Attorney Eric Holder announcing a public campaign to "really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way."

Holder was addressing the Woman's National Democratic Club. In his remarks, broadcast by CSPAN 2, he explained that he intended to use anti-smoking campaigns as his model to "change the hearts and minds of people in Washington, DC" about guns.

"What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that's not cool, that it's not acceptable, it's not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we changed our attitudes about cigarettes." More here:

Right. And the libs use this method all the time to assign the "witch" label to people.

And it works great, you know why? Because, if you're an idiot-lib, the most important thing of all is "being with the cool crowd" ... followed closely by "being perceived as smart."

This is why they always agree with nonsense. It achieves both goals simultaneously ... they can take the side of their mental superiors whom the press will ALWAYS present as "cool and smart."

Idiot-libs don't realize they are just sheep to be used, manipulated, and "brainwashed" by their mental superiors. Their mental superiors have an agenda my friends ... and it doesn't include your liberty.

They would probably try to say the same thing about conservatives except there is one major difference. Conservatives just want libs to leave them (and their wallets) the hell alone. And idiot-libs always want conservatives to live the way libs tells them ... you know ... as if they were our slave masters ... only much smarter and cooler, of course.

Inflation? What inflation?

Billionaire Donald Trump says the U.S. economy is poised for “massive inflation” and is warning investors to take steps now to protect themselves.

In the gripping CNBC interview, Trump also told investors they should not trust official government statistics.

He even questioned the “official unemployment” numbers. “It’s over 20 percent. It’s not 8.3 percent,” Trump said.

No kidding ... but keep listening to the media parrot the government's party line. This way they can steal more of your money and liberty before you wake the hell up.

Have you noticed the prices of things going up fast? I have. Does the government acknowledge it? Have you heard inflation is bad? Or have you heard "inflation isn't a problem right now?" Right, that's what I thought.

Trump also thinks skyrocketing oil prices will cripple the U.S. economy. “Right now, [oil] is at an all-time record for this time of the year, in the summer they predict $5 gasoline, maybe $6.”

Very true but it seems the consequences of these facts aren't really apparent to most folks. The part I like best is, no matter how bad things get, many people do not realize the cause is government strangling the hell out of the economy.

But Trump isn’t the only expert warning the U.S. economy may go off the cliff. Robert Wiedemer, author of the New York Times best-selling book Aftershock, stated in a recent interview, “The data is clear, 50% unemployment, a 90% stock market drop, and 100% annual inflation . . . starting in 2012.” More with video here:

Tough way to check out

PALMS (CBS) — A Westside woman was found dead on Thursday after she apparently killed herself by using a chainsaw, police said.

KNX 1070′s John Brooks reports the gruesome death was discovered early Thursday morning by the victim’s sister.

Nash was discovered with a chainsaw wound on her neck, Parks said.

“At this point, we’re investigating it as a suicide, as she left a suicide note,” he added. More here:

I see. Well, I have some questions:

Shall there be an investigation of her handwriting? Or was the note written on the computer?

Did she have a permit for this chainsaw? Was it an assault chainsaw?

How did she get the chainsaw started?

I've been having a tough time starting mine lately and I could use the pointers.

Another standard "study" - I mean "media fodder"

Bold is mine:

Health researchers said on Thursday they had found a troubling link between higher consumption of rice and Type 2 diabetes, a disease that in some countries is becoming an epidemic.

"Health researchers, my ass. More like "let's find an excuse to extend our funding" researchers (as are almost ALL "researchers".)

I've noticed I can usually replace the word "research" with "Klown's money" and can replace "researchers" with "bullshit artists."

Further work is needed so we don't have to get a real job and so we can keep living off Klown's money to probe the apparent association and diets that are notoriously high in sugar and fats should remain on the no-go list, they cautioned.

I'll tell you what should be in the "no go" list ... stealing my money for "research" and then saying "more research is needed."

"What we've found is white rice is likely to increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes, ..."

Every time I hear a "researcher" say "What we found was ..." I know the load of bullshit is about to come. It's one of the very FAVO-O-RITE phrases of libs researchers. They love it because it's so high and mighty sounding ... they like it almost as much as "It's not about xxxxx, it's about yyyyy."

Sun said the study did have limitations, including full details about what the volunteers ate in addition to rice.
"I don't think I can put forward a 100-percent confirmed case, given that this is a meta-analysis of four original studies," he said.

"But I see a consistency across these studies, and there is biological plausibility that supports the association between white rice consumption and diabetes."

He added: "More trial data are needed to corroborate or refute our observations." More here:

Whaaaa? More data huh? Then I have to ask, why did you do the "research in the first place if you knew you didn't have enough data to make a conclusion? Oh, wait, I see ... you did it so you can say "if we just had more money we could make a conclusion."

This is the "out" they have. When they're proven wrong (as they usually are - like with coffee, eggs, wine, etc etc) they can say "but we told you we needed more research but you wouldn't give us the money."

Diet is only one factor in Type 2 diabetes, a complex disease that involves high levels of blood sugar that cannot be processed by the hormone insulin. Obesity and lack of exercise are also cited as culprits.

Whaaaa? A complex disease? Imagine that. I mean, we all know what's causing the increase in diabetes ... it's global warming.

Seriously, I wouldn't give a damn about these "studies" if they didn't:
1 - Steal my money to fund them;
2 - Attempt to control my life based on their idiotic conclusions
3 - Give the idiot libs something to lecture me flap their lips about

Sorry, you'll just have to die

(AP/CBS) LINDENHURST, N.Y. - A preliminary investigation into the death of a woman who fell on an escalator at a Long Island Rail Road station reveals that she died after her clothes got entangled in the escalator's treads and she was asphyxiated. More here:

You mean nobody had a knife with which to cut her loose? That's mighty strange ... oh, wait.

Rules and Regulations Governing the Conduct and Safety of the Public and Use of the Long Island Rail Road Company Terminals, Stations and Trains

1097.11 Firearms or other weapons
No person, except for those licensed to do so and in immediate possession of such license, shall bring into or carry in a terminal, station or train firearms or other weapons.

What about wasabi?

I've had wasabi plenty of times and it always just seems like green "Chinese mustard" to me. So I decided to do some research. I found a lot of people saying the same thing and posted a sample from here:

Q
Wondering About Wasabi?
Does wasabi, the Japanese mustard that comes with sushi, have any health benefits? It always seems to clear my sinuses, at least temporarily.
A
Answer
The answer to your question is yes... and no. First of all, you should know that the green paste that usually comes with sushi isn't really wasabi. It is a combination of horseradish, Chinese mustard and green food coloring. And it may surprise you to learn that this imitation product is now so widely used that - with the exception of some top-flight restaurants that still use genuine wasabi - it even accompanies sushi in Japan. (I've been told by wasabi experts that only about five percent of the restaurants in Japan serve the real thing, and I've found real wasabi in the United States only in high-end Japanese restaurants in New York and California.) The ubiquitous bright-green paste that you are familiar with will make your eyes water and can clear your sinuses, but it has no significant health benefits, and much of it is artificially colored.

Just what I thought ... Chinese mustard with green food coloring.

Idiot lib calling himself a republican

If elected, he promises to “vigorously” enforce laws that “prohibit distribution of hardcore (obscene) pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier.” More here:

Can't ... leave ... people ... alone. Must ... control them. Must ... tell them ... how to live their lives. If they don't listen ... must punish them and force them to bend to our will.

Luckily, this moron has no chance.

Another dumbass just made my list

The New York Times bestselling author of the explosive new book, Hollywood Hypocrites: The Devastating Truth About Obama’s Biggest Backers, Jason Mattera, had his crew’s camera snatched and hurled by comedian Chris Rock when he asked the star why he has called the Tea Party racist (video below).

“I was stunned,” said Mr. Mattera in an exclusive interview with Big Hollywood. “Tea Party members get called the worst things imaginable and still remain peaceful. But ask a big Hollywood celebrity to explain himself and the guy goes ballistic, wrestles the camera away from my camerawoman, chucks it 50 feet, and then challenges me to a fight. It’s unreal. And it perfectly illustrates why I decided to investigate and writeHollywood Hypocrites.”

The confrontation, which took place around 2:00 a.m. on January 23, 2012, at Spike Lee’s Sundance Film Festival after party at Tao night club, ended with Chris Rock challenging the conservative author to a fight, says Mr. Mattera: “Chris Rock shouted, ‘You want to throw down? Let’s throw down right now!’ Of course, he was standing safely behind two bodyguards when he said it.”

The clash was ignited when Jason Mattera inquired about disparaging comments Chris Rock made about the Tea Party in an Esquire article in 2011:

When I see the Tea Party and all this stuff, it actually feels like racism's almost over. Because this is the last — this is the act up before the sleep. They're going crazy. They're insane. You want to get rid of them — and the next thing you know, they're fucking knocked out. And that's what's going on in the country right now. More here:
I have to tell you, long ago I knew most of the whoop-dee-doos in Hollywood/entertainment were idiots ... idiots that put out mostly movies suitable for the entertainment of children. But then I realized, the movies weren't actually aimed at children, no ... instead they were aimed at, shall we say, people of low IQ limited knowledge. Yes, they "bring it down to your level" ... you know ... so you don't miss anything.

Hell, I can't bring myself to watch 30-Rock (which I'll bet I'd love) on TV because Alec Baldwin is such a huge idiot-lib. He prolly doesn't even realize it (as I am convinced most libs don't.)

I don't think they realize it but libs are always busy telling other people what to do ... under various "unassailable" pretenses, of course. Or maybe they realize it but they're so brainwashed as to think it's perfectly fine to steal the freedom of people you consider dumber than you ... for their own good, of course.

Anyway, I finally had to stop going to the movies because I had been so disappointed so many times. But now the reasons are coming clear, aren't they ... they're libs ... and they think everyone is stupid ... so they put out a product aimed at their target audience. I make an exception about once a year to see a movie ... and every time I feel like someone just read me a children's book (often heavy on the condescending "lesson") and then robbed me.

It occurs to me that the lefties are much better at boycotts than conservatives. I think conservatives used to think that libs don't really affect them so, what's the point. It seem to me that conservatives are only now starting to wake up to the fact that these people affect us every day and are making our lives miserable through blocking energy (high gas/electricity prices) and regulations that strangle our businesses which makes it harder for them to profit and hire people.

I got off track a bit there but in conclusion, let me say I don't automatically refuse to watch the show/product of a lib. To get me to that point the lib must have repeatedly (or spectacularly) done something terribly egregious and/or brazen to get my attention ... to make it so I can't think of anything else when I look at his/her face. Chris Rock just made the list.
