A carnival operator invites you to play a game: Throw two fair dice 18 times; if you throw a double six, you win a prize.
"Your chance of getting a double six on a particular throw is 1 in 36," he says, "so with 18 throws your chances are even."
Should you play?
Highlight/Select from here to No. The probability of not throwing a double six in 18 throws is (35/36)18, which is more than 0.6. You'd actually have to throw the dice 25 times to have an even chance of getting double sixes. here for the answer.
