The smartest genius I know.
His best point is made at 32:53 when he says that blindly discounting something you don't understand is as lazy as blindly accepting it.
The interview starts at 6:30. I'd recommend watching the whole thing but do as you please.
The actual 99% don't rely on "mic checks" we rely on votes.

If only we were better learners.
From the Financial Times (full article here).
Germany is the only country in Europe that can act to save the eurozone and the wider European Union from “a crisis of apocalyptic proportions”, the Polish foreign minister warned on Monday in a passionate call for more drastic action to prevent the collapse of the European monetary union.Have you ever seen the movie "Breaking Away"?
Go ahead and watch it. I'll wait right here.
Well in the final chapter, there's a bike race and it's monumental because for the first time in history, "the cutters" (aka the townies) are going to be allowed to race against the wealthy, rich, elitist college kids (aka the wealthy, rich, elitist college kids). It's an opportunity for which they've begged and pleaded much in the same way that the countries in Europe pined for an EU (as long as Germany joined).
The Cutters though, they just show up cold. When you're offered the opportunity of a lifetime; a chance to right all the wrongs put upon you and your kind for generations; to finally show your intellectual betters that you're every bit as good as they are; to strike a blow for the middle-class everywhere, you show up completely unprepared. Except. Except for the fact that you have an ace up your sleeve.
Because "it's the American way" to show up wholly unprepared and to fly by the seat of your pants and by sheer force of will and lots of concentration to win anyway. This works 100% of the time... in Libland (aka Hollywood, CA) so of course it works in real life. That's what they'd have us believe anyway.
Well, Dave is their secret weapon. He has been training like a BOSS for the past year in his futile attempt to beat the Italians who have come to Bloomfield, IL to race in what appears to be a road race with no less than 90 bicyclists. Although he's physically ready to easily keep their pace, he is tossed to the side of the road like an unwanted cigarette butt when he threatens them with his ability. Really, they just shove a bike pump into his front wheel and he goes pitch-poling off the road. This breaks his spirit but he's no quitter- not after his friends beg him to bail them out of this hot water they've gotten into much in the same way that the countries in Europe pined for an EU (as long as Germany joined).. This is all starting to sound like the EU, isn't it?
Once the race begins, the rules are simple. There are 4 men to a team and each team member must race at least one lap. The race begins and each of the other 3 team members ride for a lap or two and then hand the bike off to Dave to finish the race. Essentially, they're handing the ball to the 1%er and sitting back in their lawn chairs sunning themselves. Pretty soon, they don't even bother to cheer for him as he passes. Socialism at its best.
Well, as is the wont of Hollywood movie productions. It's not enough that he win the race. There must be a struggle. He's hurt in a crash and can't continue. His teammates wave him on because they're way too tired and out of shape to do any good for the team so he's on his own. Eventually, he stops anyway because he has no choice and the 3 Cutters fight over who's going to go next. Things look bleak at this point... extra bleak (aka current events in the EU).
Ultimately, Dave has to man up and take up the slack the others had accumulated and decides he must get his feet taped onto the peddles and finish the race do or die. And so he does.
While I draw many similarities with this movie and the current economical conditions in the EU, the big difference is that what's happening in the EU is real and "Breaking Away" is just a movie. Germany may resent the fact that it was drawn into the EU in the first place and may be hoping above hope that they could figure some way out of this without a complete global economic collapse, but the fact is, they're the only one on their team capable of carrying this team to the finish line.
The other EU nations can complain all they want about the superiority and elitism of Germany (and perhaps the UK) but the fact remains that when they need help (as they always, mysteriously, do), they'll be calling on Germany to help. It's the ant and the grasshopper all over again. And these Liberals pride themselves on being "well read".
The UK (wisely) left themselves out of hot water by refraining from participating in the EU in the first place so now Germany is stuck. The only hope remaining for a team of ne'er-do-wells who know neither responsibility, sacrifice, nor hard work. Even if they do somehow pull a rabbit out of a hat and survive all this, their future does not look too promising. Even in the movie, they all went back to their loser life-styles while Dave went on to attend college. Something tells me Germany can expect the same fate and as for the others? Good.Luck.
This is hysterical all the way thru
Wombat also pointed out that when she asked "does the drum circle know we're here?" They all pretended not to hear her ... Wombat surmised they were all waiting for signs of approval/disapproval from the group before acting ... and this behavior (seeking approval and acceptance of the group) is one of the hallmarks of idiot libs.
And I'll just add my two cents. Why do libs seek approval of the group?
I think two of the reasons are:
1 - They have a very weird need to be accepted ... to be in (what they perceive as) the "cool crowd."
2 - They aren't confident they know the difference between right and wrong so they're willing to substitute their own judgement with the judgement of the group ... i.e. to be "right" by consensus.
Its a smackdown

Colin Powell thinks the Tea Party is the "problem"
AMANPOUR: ... but what about the fact that, in fact, it is one of the political parties, although -- or rather the big political influence, which is the Tea Party, which quotes left and right the Founding Fathers? They say compromise is a dirty word, and they try to point to the Founding Fathers and the Constitution.
POWELL: They compromised -- the Founding Fathers compromised on slavery. They had to in order to create a country. They compromised on the composition of the Senate, of the House, of the Supreme Court, of a president -- what are the president's powers? Can you imagine more difficult compromises today?
Compromise is how this country was founded, and unless two people in disagreement with each other don't find a way to reach out to one another and make compromises, you don't get a consensus that allows you to move forward But the Tea Party point of view is not a point of view that will eventually produce a presidential candidate who will win..

What isn't wrong with this picture?
What's that you say? The government isn't going to take care of him and people like him? They're on their own? But but but this isn't what they ASKED for. They just wanted to kick back and take it easy and get a whole bunch of free stuff. They got the government they always wanted and now they feel jilted. Left by the wayside. Neglected, ignored and forgotten. It's as if it comes as a complete surprise to them that by creating a government which thrives on self-service, selfishness and personal advancement has somehow and mysteriously left them without any rewards to reap.
It's as if it's history repeating itself all over again. They did all they could to bring these people to power. Even though they have a long-standing history of breaking promises they have somehow and mysteriously broke yet another promise. It turns out that even though it happens time and time again in every socialist society, it's also happening here- the people who get the power only want more power and the people they used to get there feel somehow... used.
It's a complete mystery to them that doing favors, under the table dealing, and "one hand washes the other" politics leads ONLY to corruption and squandering of money. Weirdly and mysteriously, all that money ends up in the hands of the powerful. So there these people stand. Left out. Dejected. No better off than they were before they sold out.
And now they're angry. They ignored the facts, they ignored reality and now they pay the price of their own greed and stupidity. Of course, it goes without saying that after having lived a life in denial, they're unable to accept personal responsibility for their dismal situation and commence with finding someone to blame for their misfortune.
Hey, I didn't know that

Who loves the OWS "movement?" (More like a bowel "movement")
“I appreciate you guys making your point; let me go ahead and make mine,” Obama said before continuing his speech. “I'll listen to you, you listen to me, OK?”A few minutes later, Obama acknowledged the Occupy protest movement again, saying: “You are the reason I ran for office.”

Interest in OWS is flat. Dissatisfaction with violence of OWS grows.
Full article HERE.
The poll finds that 56% of Americans surveyed are neither supporters nor opponents and 59% say they don't know enough to have an opinion about the movement's goals.
The survey, however, does show an increase from 20% to 31% in disapproval of the way the protests are being conducted.
The psychology of protesters.
The Occupiers don't know how lucky they are, because despite all their degrees they have forgotten how revolutions, real revolutions, end. They end when the people holding up the ridiculous signs, the petty criminals and the mentally unstable, whom no one took seriously, become the secret police for one of those charming outsiders who wandered in and now owns the place. The fellow with the dark eyes who excels at taking control of meetings and driving out people who don't agree with him. Who despite his poor literacy speaks so magnetically that it seems impossible to believe that's he's a lunatic who dreams nightly or killing everyone who ever offended him.

Top 10 reasons that guns are better than women
10. You can trade an old 44 for a new 22 AND nobody gets hurt.
9. You can keep one gun at home and have another for when you're on the road AND nobody gets hurt.
8. If you admire a friend's gun and tell him so, he will probably let you try it out a few times.
7. Your primary gun doesn't mind if you keep another gun for a backup.
6. Your gun will stay with you even if you run out of ammo.
5. A gun doesn't take up a lot of closet space.
4. Guns function normally every day of the month.
3. A gun doesn't ask, "Do these new grips make me look fat?”
2. A gun doesn't mind if you go to sleep after you use it.
And the number one reason a gun is favored over a woman is...
1. YOU CAN BUY A SILENCER FOR A GUN.
---------------------------------------------------------------
10. You can easily trade that snubby in for something with a longer barrel.
9. You can keep a gun clean with a little Hoppe's and some elbow grease.
8. A gun never complains about the fit of its holster.
7. A gun doesn't need to watch a bad Western on video before you take it to the range.
6. Too many rounds and shots over the years don't cause the trigger guard to grow and sag.
5. You can carry a gun in your pants all day without it becoming a pest.
4. A gun doesn't complain if you want to spend more than 15 minutes at the range.
3. Emission of noxious gases is always under your control.
2. A gun doesn't call you a tease after you do a bit of dry fire.
1. A gun doesn't need to take a nap after each shot.

Idiot liberals finally achieved the pinnacle and "banned" perfect logic
EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration
Brussels bureaucrats were ridiculed yesterday after banning drink manufacturers from claiming that water can prevent dehydration. More here:
By the way, I probably shouldn't have said "achieved the pinnacle" in the headline because just as soon as I think that liberals can't get any dumber, they prove me wrong.
Another so-called "Pillar of Society".
This picture has gone viral and has been retweeted countless times. Of course, they only report the part that serves their ideology. The rest of the story goes largely unreported:
Actually, young thug Brandon Watts stood on a wall at Zuccotti Park and threw AAA batteries at police. (very dangerous and painful) Then he charged the police officers and stole one of their hats. The New York Police caught him as he ran back into the park, but Brandon began to fight back, police said. He was wrestled to the ground and continued to fight back for several minutes. That’s when he busted his head on the concrete, causing a gash to gush blood down his face.As always though, do your own research, think for yourself, and if something sounds too good to be true, look a little deeper. Libs will hate it if you do that.
The ego's on these people.
These misdirected spoiled-brats are desperate for meaning... a cause... a revolution for our generation. They will stop at nothing in their futile attempts to convince us (and mostly themselves) that they are fighting the good fight. That they are morally righteous. That they are the shining light of the brave new world. That they are Pillars of Virtue!
I suppose this all works on them and people like them. Much in the same way that young girls actually believe that they are royal princesses, these people believe they're incarnations of Che Guevara [you remember Che- he's the guy who was purported to say "Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man." but actually said, "Do not shoot! I am Che Guevara and worth more to you alive than dead."Anderson, Jon Lee (1997). Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life. New York: Grove Press. ISBN 0-8021-1600-0.) aka "same thing" to a Liberal.] and other legendary freedom-fighters of yore.
Let's face it- revolutions are a lot less interesting when you know the truth. Especially revolutions by Liberals. It's easy to tell stories of greatness when you're witnessing the actions of great people. However, when the people acting are incapable of the selflessness, courage and strength of character which are requisites of real heroes, they're forced to make things up (all in the name of advancing their ideologies, of course). As we all know though, the truth will always come out and they'll be exposed for the fools that they are. Just not to other Liberals or the MSM. They've already moved on to greener pastures... fresher stories.... the new black, etc.
You might think that their motivation is moving on (no pun intended) and letting go but it seems to me that it's more about sweeping their mistakes under the carpet and hoping that nobody notices. They'll admonish you for "living in the past" while ignoring the fact that if you can't acknowledge your mistakes, you're doomed to repeat them.
It's this lack of foundation and this lack of permanence that bothers me most about Liberals and people like them- they will never build anything of worth, they will never accomplish anything of merit. They only "keep busy" and spin their wheels on endeavors which amount to nothing but make great bragging-material with which to impress their friends at cocktail parties. I can't think of anything less "noble" than that. Except perhaps, renting a fancy car to impress old classmates at your 25th high school reunion.
Nevertheless, Occupiers continue with the self-aggrandizement with garbage like this:
"Iconic image of martyrdom"? Ridiculous.
Here's a commentary on the topic from Facebook:
"Well in the same vein that you can't cheat an honest man, a peaceful protestor doesn't experience police brutality. It's always the ones who don't see the line who cross it. I'm not suggesting that anyone sit idly by and do nothing. I'm just suggesting that the ones who go out and get their heads bashed in are praying for that result so they can prove their dedication."
Well said. Personally, I suspect she didn't know what she was in for. I suspect that in spite of numerous warnings, she and the people with her figured "hey- what's the worst that could happen?" While all the people who were actually paying attention backed off and listened to the directives of the police, she and the others stood there and got taken by complete surprise and instead of feeling the normal emotion of discomfort, shame and embarrassment, they feel heroic.
Of course, their crowd is so desperate to join the ranks of true heroes that they automatically reinforce this ridiculous idea.
OWS: A Reader's perspective.
Unfortunately, this isn't a fairy tale and my name isn't Alice so that doesn't seem particularly likely to happen.
John Thomas (a frequent commenter on this blog) provided some insight that I'd like to bring to the forefront of this blog because unlike the anti-Tea Party crowd, he has made some legitimate, realistic and accurate points about OWS. Here it is in its entirety. Keep in mind that it was written as a comment on a post and not an actual post so its off-the-cuff construction is perfectly acceptable.
I completely disagree. There is virtually no common ground between the TEA Party and these dregs of society. The TEA Party's "Platform" envelopes the entire graph above. The TEA Party types (not politicians trying to capitalize on it) could sum up their beliefs with: "Less government, no hand-outs, more accountability equals more freedom and opportunity". The Occu-tards aren't angry that "Corporations have too much power", they're angry that they don't get cradle to grave entitlements (free stuff on the backs of the producing class) or 100K a year to do whatever job they "Choose to take" from these corporations. They want (and openly call for) a Communist style state that will magically take everything away from people they don't like and give it to them. It's simply a lust for "Revenge". They're so stupid that they believe under Communist control, they'll be "Free" and "Equal". Their "Education" has failed them. They are complete, useful idiots. They are America's lost and worthless generation. They are mostly filthy, face-tattooed, stoned, mis-educated white trash that has never had to actually struggle for anything in their life. They grew up thinking that they could look and act anyway they want and simply cry and stamp their feet if they didn't get it. It worked with Mommy, Daddy and school teacher, why won't it work outside of the school and home? Everything has been provided to them, but it's just not enough, they want your stuff too.
I would like to point out though that he likely meant "They are complete, useless idiots." rather than what he wrote but I left it unchanged in the quote above. Either way, keep the comments coming. Your words are heard and welcome here- even if you express opinions with which we disagree.
Addendum:
I stand corrected by Klown: The term "useful idiot" has been around for a long time.
It is said that this is the term that Lenin gave to people who supported him but didn't really understand him (although this has never really been substantiated.)

A Liberal with whom I frequently agree.
An occupier who makes sense.
That the occupy movements lack definition is a feature, not a bug. Because occupy has no centralized leader or mission, everyone is allowed to project their own meaning onto it. I’ve seen occupy as a manifestation of anxiety over the influence of organizations in our lives. I believe it’s the same anxiety felt by people who identify with the Tea Party (which I found repulsive, probably based on my own classism).I think he has a point here and I hope more Occupiers follow his lead. The Tea Party and OWS have a lot in common even if they have very divergent methodologies for making their point. I've been saying all along that Big Government is every bit as bad as Big Corporations are. The fact that the two are so closely intertwined should be alarming to anyone paying attention. This message is unfortunately being squandered by the anarchy and disorder all too obvious in OWS.
Take a look at this guy's blog though and read for yourself. Sure, he's leaning to the Left but enough of what he says makes enough sense to make it a worthwhile read.
Fully article HERE.
Liberals have always been about "the show".
Some of the Liberal logic I've read on Twitter..
"The reason we have crime is because of white collar crime"
"I do think the City itself and even Bloomberg ... brought Occupy Wall Street on themselves."
Here's one of my favorite "hot topics"- Police pepper spraying students at UC Davis. Of course the video doesn't show the full story. However, it clearly shows students locking arms and blocking a sidewalk and a police officer clearly showing the crowd that he's holding pepper spray and that he intends to use it. We can see that the students blocking the thoroughfare are prepared for this by the fact that they're trying to tuck their faces into their $200 fleeces.
The truth-loving left has characterized this in several different ways and they wonder why they have no credibility among those who think for themselves:
"chemical weapons"? Sure technically it's true but a reasonable person would recognize quickly that it's "misleading".
Nice show of solidarity RT@bengoldacre: Remarkably casual use of chemical weapons on humans in US#OWS
Amazing.#occupyCal students chanting "you can go" before 2nd round of tear gas, and the cops leave.#ows RT@AJELive (Comically, this tweet included a link to a video on aljazeera.net).
And then back to the normal whining and grousing...
@upwithchris#FoxNews has been Demonizing#OWS since day one and it's done 24/7 just like they have done to Preside... tl.gd/e90vqe
A plea to police across the nation; Please stop beating us, stop spraying us, stop hurting us. Take a breath and stop the violence. (How about you stop violating the rights of others in the name of your first amendment rights and THEN the police will leave you alone?)
."Unbelievable badassery [sic]" I guess that's what they call it when a Liberal expresses an intelligent, thoughtful opinion without swearing, shouting, chanting, or drums. If they're going to be lionizing people for being literate and eloquent, I'm going to join them just to get the recognition I so richly deserve. Now clearly, you should know on which side of the argument I'm on but I feel it's important to hear from the other side as long as it's presented in a reasonably clear and coherent fashion.@PennyRed once again proves her unbelievable badassery in the face of corporate stooges. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd7_GdZuWtU&feature=related#OWS#Awesome

Think "capitalism" instead of "Romans"
Excerpts:
By Gary Wolfram
William Simon Professor of Economics and Public Policy
Hillsdale College
Whenever I watch media coverage of another Occupy Wall Street event I am reminded of an exchange between Jewish protesters in the 1979 Monte Python movie Life of Brian. One of the protesters asks another what the Romans have brought to the area and the conversation goes like this:
Question: All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?Answer: Brought peace?Response: Oh, peace - shut up!
Making fun of women, yes, that's GOTTA sting

I wasn't even close on this one
Those stupid, violent, racist, Tea Partiers are at it again
Later in the video, he then goes on to say “No more talking. They’ve got guns, we’ve got bottles. They’ve got bricks, we’ve got rocks…in a few days you’re going to see what a Molotov cocktail can do to Macy’s.”
Do you think you would you have seen it if it were done by the Tea Party?
Is there a problem, officer? Is this sort of thing frowned upon?

Hey, hey, ho, ho, ... what rhymes with "GAAAA?" We don't know
Hours later, the National Lawyers Guild obtained a court order allowing Occupy Wall Street protesters to return with tents to the park. The guild said the injunction prevents the city from enforcing park rules on Occupy Wall Street protesters. More here:
Is it just me or does it feel like "the people of America against the lawyers and judges" in this country anymore? I mean, these jackasses took over a public space, harassed bystanders and passersby, and caused small businesses adjacent to their "encampments" to lose business ... for MONTHS! Who is going to pay the small businesses back their rent money and lost profits? Where is the judge that is going to rule that OWS has to pay them back? I'll tell you where ... nowhere.
That's right, teach those greedy corporations a lesson they won't forget
Heard it on the Neal BOORTZ show
Here’s the deal. You live in Michigan. Michigan is a “forced-union” state where you can be forced to join a union in order to work. If you elect not to actually join the union, you have to pay union dues anyway. Quite a deal --- for unions; and for Democrats too, by the way, because Michigan unions throw almost 100% of their financial support behind Democrats every election. No surprises yet.
So let’s put our heads together and see how we can take Medicaid money and turn it into contributions to Democrats? Legally, of course! Really … there just has to be a way to do this. And as a matter of fact, there is! I don’t really know who cooked this mess up, but it was served by former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm! A Democrat, of course.
Here’s how it works. You are a parent of a mentally disabled adult child. You accept Medicaid payments from the State of Michigan. Governor Granholm. As I understand the story, Governor Granholm --- and remember that she is a Democrat --- initiated a program whereby all adults in Michigan who accept Medicaid dollars for the care of their disabled adult children are deemed to be providing care for their children as employees – yes, as employees – of some government outfit called the Michigan Quality Community Care Council.
OK … so why is it so goll-durned important for the Democrats to designate these parents of disabled adult children as government employees? Well, that would be because if they’re government employees they have to pay dues to the government employee’s union! And that would be the wonderful Service Employees International union – the purple-shirted goons of the SEIU. So now that you’re an official government employee – though all you’re doing is taking care of your own children – the SEIU now deducts $30 a month from your Medicaid payments for dues. Isn’t that just great! There’s certainly nothing else you could use that $30 bucks for, is there?
How much does this add up for SEIU in any given year? Try about $6 million bucks. Is it any wonder unions work so hard to keep Democrats in office? On average, over 90% of political contributions to Democrats or to support Democrat and liberal ballot measures like last week’s pro-government union vote in Ohio. Want figures? From 2007 to 2008 the SEIU gave just 3.12% of it’s political contributions to Republicans. 96.67% of donations went to Democrats or Democrat ballot initiatives. How much money are we talking about? $9,900,000 from the union itself, and another $25 million plus from subsidiaries and employees of SEIU. So you know where much of that $6 million is going, don’t you? Yup .. right into Democrat campaigns and in support of Democrat ballot initiatives.
Suddenly it makes these making these caregivers government employees makes sense, doesn’t it? At least from a Democrat perspective.
Gov. Rick Snyder, R-Mich., director of the Department of Human Services ended that program. "[We] will stop all funding and, because these providers are not state employees, will also cease collecting union dues,” DHS director Maura Corrigan said at the time.
Michigan's state House has already passed a bill to prevent this sort of rent-seeking by public-sector unions, but it has stalled in the state Senate.Monday, November 14, 2011
