I won't get into all the bits and bytes. If you wish to read the full, math-intensive report, click the link at the bottom of this post. Suffice it to say that if you're like I am and only have a glimpse of an understanding of mathematical probability, you'll find the detailed report to be
very interesting.
Oprah Winfrey decided to offer "nobodies" an opportunity to have their own show. The voting would be done online and the winner based on popularity (demonstrated by receiving the most votes) would get their own show. Zach Anner was the faraway favorite. It so happens that Mr. Anner has CP hence the title of this post.
Mr. Anner had been followed by "Doctor Phyllis" (I already don't like her- who but a Lib would address herself with "Doctor" and I'll bet she's not even a
real doctor- just a PhD) with Mr. Anner having a strong lead and without her gaining any ground until the last days of the competition. Reports were that she was receiving between 600k and 900k votes per hour at that time. These numbers were statistically unlikely given the voting history. She came from a trailing second to a vast favorite for first place. All in a
very short period of time. Mr. Anner ultimately won the competition but only after some very strange voting activity.
A few websites reported that the coding of the votes "Doctor" Phyllis was receiving were "different" from the votes the other contestants were receiving and her votes indicated an "EID" number of 208260549 where the other contestants showed only "N/A". Experts speculate that EID stands for either "Employee ID [number]" or "Entity ID [number]". Either way,
someone's up to
something. It's also worth pointing out that "Doctor" Phyllis was receiving nearly
twice as many votes per minute (VPM) as Mr. Anner right up until those VPM's reached 500k when they mysteriously died off. I guess one of the vote riggers thought that nobody would notice if they kept the votes under 500k- like it was some kind of radar signal which could be evaded.
Here's a chart that shows the voting trends (click to enlarge):
After this discrepancy was reported on several websites the voting for "Doctor" Phyllis suddenly and mysteriously dropped from ~1923/min to ~3/min. Weird, right?
Anyway, I'm digressing from my point.
Geekosystem does a great job of explaining the proof of misdoings and I'll leave that up to them. My point is that just like every other celebrity criminal, Oprah appeared to think that if she stopped immediately and undid the damage, all would be forgiven.
It appears to me that once this information came to light, the powers that be decided that the cat was out of the bag and that they'd better start covering their tracks. The problem with this mentality is that you can't undo a crime. They probably suspected that if Mr. Anner won as he clearly deserved to do, nobody would care about how it happened. It's like someone cheating on "field day", getting caught and disqualifying him or herself so that the true winner can receive the prize. Somehow, it seems like only Democrats pull this stunt (all day long) and think they'll get away with it.
Well, that's not how it works and this is the beauty of the internet. The people reporting on this story are nobodies. They don't
want anything from Oprah and because of this, she has no
control over them. They have no careers to ruin. They're not friends with social climbers who'll abandon them. They're off the Hollywood/Celebrity grid so they can speak the truth. Of course, if Oprah were smart, she'd
give them celebrity and then threaten to take it away. That way, she'd have some leverage. I suspect that's not going to happen because she's probably aware of the
Streisand Effect.
