Hey, Pakistan ... commence with the slavery

LAHORE: The leadership of Al Qaeda is in Pakistan, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Thursday.

“I find it hard to believe that nobody in your government knows where they are and couldn’t get them if they really wanted to,” she added.

“Maybe that’s the case; maybe they’re not gettable. I don’t know... As far as we know, they are in Pakistan,” Clinton told senior Pakistani newspaper editors in Lahore, AFP reported. “The percentage of taxes on GDP (in Pakistan) is among the lowest in the world... We (the United States) tax everything that moves and doesn’t move, and that’s not what we see in Pakistan,” she said. More here:

LMAO -- I'll bet the Pakistanis just LOVE her.

Speaking of Pakistan:

This week, Mrs Clinton’s touchdown in Pakistan coincided with one of the worst terrorist attacks it has experienced, leaving 100 dead in the back alleys of Peshawar. The secretary of state’s arrival followed months of terrorist escalation in a country where the military is only now perceived to be putting significant – if questionable – weight behind operations targeting Taliban sanctuaries in the tribal areas. Mrs Clinton, who leaves Pakistan on Saturday, has received a cool reception in spite of the fact that Congress recently approved another $7.5bn (£4.6bn, €5.1bn) of civilian aid for the troubled country.

According to a recent poll, 59 per cent of Pakistanis view America as their greatest threat, against just 18 per cent for India and 11 per cent for al-Qaeda. America’s aid package was greeted with suspicion and derision across Pakistan. “I have never had so much difficulty in trying to give away $7.5bn,” said John Kerry, chairman of the US foreign relations committee, on a trip to Pakistan last week. More here:

Hey, didn't we just give those hamburgers a bunch of our money? We have plenty of money though ... and if we don't we just raise taxes, right Hillary and Kerry? Just on the evil corporations though, right? And the evil corporations will never include those taxes in the things we buy .... right? ... Dipshits.

We "tax everything that moves and doesn't move" and it's STILL not enough. You know why? Because it's NEVER enough for the libs. Never mind your liberty, jackass, go to work and give us your money. Yes, yes, we're driving the country into debt ... yes, yes, in 2009 we paid almost 400 billion in interest alone on the debt ... just shut up and don't worry about it. What's a half trillion bucks ... a drop in the bucket.

Almost to the end of hurricane season

Remember this kind of crap from a few years ago?

July 30, 2007 (Bloomberg) -- Global warming is causing more frequent hurricanes in the North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, according to a study from the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

The increased frequency of tropical cyclones ``is largely a response'' to a 1 degree Celsius rise in sea water temperatures since 1905 that was caused by greenhouse gases, the study found. More here:

Oh, really? Is that what your "study found?" I conducted a "study" also ... and my "study found" that people who believe in man made global warming are fucking idiots. I conducted the same "study" in the 1970's about peeps who believed in global cooling. Anyway, so what's the latest on hurricanes?

North Atlantic Hurricane Season slowest since 1997 -- Figure

Global and Northern Hemisphere Tropical Cyclone Activity remains near 30-year historical lows -- three years in a row now of considerably below-average activity globally. -- Figure

More here:

Hmmmm. Have you heard of this on the "news?" No? Shocker.

What I find amazing is that global cooling was caused by the use of fossil fuels ... and global warming is ... wait for it .... caused by fossil fuels. Yes, and there are people who buy this crap.

Well, that shit was ALL OVER the news a few years ago ... about the sea levels and the melting polar caps and the increased hurricanes etc etc etc ... but now the hurricanes have diminished, the temps have diminished so where are the "totally honest and objective jourrrrnalists?" Huh? Where are they?

Meanwhile, the sun was in its normal warming cycle during "global warming" and now it's in its cooling cycle (not as many sunspots) and yet, this information is somehow irrelevant to the "climate change" morons.

So how are our "hurricane/global warming experts" doing with their predictions? Here's their record since I've been keeping track.

They predicted 2006 to be above average - WRONG
They predicted 2007 to be above average - WRONG
They predicted 2008 to be above average - WRONG
They predicted 2009 to be average ------- WRONG

WOW -- I mean I could have rolled dice and done better than this ... yet, every season the media hypes the ever-loving-shit out of their predictions. I've found that liberals are absolutely incapable of being humiliated. Sooner or later they'll get one right and the media will bray like jackasses for the entire year. In the meantime, they're hoping you have the regular liberal amnesia.

Also, have you heard the media braying about the melting polar ice caps lately? Cuz they sure were braying earlier in the year. Remember? This was supposed to be the first year ever (except it's happened many times before) that the north pole was supposed to melt com-ass-pletely. Did it happen? Uh ... NAY! Did you hear anymore about it once they knew it wouldn't? Uh ... NAY! Anyone admitting they don't know wtf they're talking about? Uh ... NAY!

Lastly, even though they're wrong ... CONSISTENTLY WRONG ... I fully expect some liberal dumbass to come on this blog and tell me that global warming is still real ... but it's just "on hold" or something.

To save them the trouble of commenting (because libs don't capisky facts and commen sense language) I'll tell it to them here in their native tongue. Ready, here you go .... HEE HAW -- HEEEEEE HAW -- HEE HAWWWWWW -- HEEE HAWWW --- BAAAA BLEAT -- BLEAT -- REALLY REALLY BLEAT --- HMMM BUZZZZ CLICK FUCKTARDS!!

I'm bad - I'm bad - Gaaaa!! -- OW OW !!

From the Ace of Spades Blog:

Here a 'chav' (a UK hybrid of wigger and white trash) taunts a man in his own yard. You see what he didn't know is that the man, Jason Smith, was a Gulf War veteran with black belts in karate and jiu-jitsu. And he had complained to police 50 times(!) in the last year about harassment like this.

Frankly I'm surprised Smith let the confrontation go on this long but then given Britain's current legal state, it's not clear you're even allowed to physically defend yourself when threatened and assaulted on your own property. Sadly the UK is coming to resemble the first acts of Mad Max or any Death Wish movie. But unfortunately in real life the second and third acts never seem to come.

This is why the lib media hates FOX

Libs - Attacking capitalism & the free market

This dipshit doesn't like the free press and thinks it needs to be "reformed." This is a screenshot from the video below.

Have you noticed? Lately I've seen "objective jourrrrnalists" attacking capitalism and the free market ... I mean "out in the open." I can't recall if the "jourrrrrnalists" did it or if they just gave a platform to communists who then advocated killing the free market.

I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this. It's not even subtle anymore. I'm waiting for the day when I actually hear one ask the question "What's wrong with socialism/communism anyway?"

They're always talking about "the failures of the free market" and "greedy capitalists" etc ... but somehow they never mention the massive (and getting worse) government interference in the market.

As a preface to the video below, I just want to go on record as saying I don't agree with everything Glenn Beck says ... I'm not a sheep ... but I probably agree with him more than I disagree.

Anyway, here's a video -- it's the last part of a five-part segment on the founding fathers versus today's "progressives." Yes, he's criticizing the Obama an the people in his administration, but this applies to ALL progressives and their manner of thinking. These people are telling you their plans ... straightforward ... in plain language ... no more "hinting around" and speaking in their little code words so that only people of their own ilk understand the agenda. GET IT YET?

Katie the Commie - hates Rush and Sarah

According to Katie, Republicans should get the focus off Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin. They're nothing but "fringe" elements, "sideshows" that drive people out of the Republican Big Tent. You can read her actual comments at NewsBusters:

Update: Over at Free Republic, where this item was cross-posted, reader bolobaby offered this zinger: "With her ratings, she knows ALL ABOUT fringe." Ouch.

Yes, Rush and Sarah ... "fringe" elements ... sideshows ... get it? Baaa Bleat.

Fatass liberal gas-bag springs leak

Excerpts:
By Jack Coleman

Emboldened by his keen sense of omniscience, left-wing radio host Ed Schultz argued with a caller who dared criticize Schultz's command of the facts.

"There isn't anything I say on television or radio that I can't back up," Schultz claimed on Friday (click here for audio). "Anything."All of his next radio show later, on Monday, Schultz demonstrated the flimsiness of this boast when he tossed out an assertion just as dubious, about Tim Pawlenty (here for audio)

SCHULTZ: This is a guy who was a governor in Minnesota where a bridge fell down and killed 13 people and he didn't want to build another one. I mean, this guy, he didn't, he was against, they hadn't raised a sales tax on gas in that state in some 25 years. And he was against that.
In fact, Pawlenty was not only in favor of rebuilding the fallen bridge, he was criticized by Democrats for rushing reconstruction, allegedly in time for the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis the following year. Here's how it was reported in The New York Times --
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 15 (2007) -- It took all of two weeks for the political unity brought on by a deadly bridge collapse here to fall apart.

Even as divers continued searching the Mississippi River on Wednesday for four people missing since the busy Interstate 35W bridge fell on Aug. 1, political leaders were dueling over plans for a replacement span.

The battle lines extended from disputed plans for light rail to suggestions that Pawlenty, a Republican, was unnecessarily rushing reconstruction to impress Republican Party leaders, who will hold their presidential convention in the Twin Cities in September 2008. Pawlenty says such talk is nonsense. ...

... Mr. Pawlenty and his State Department of Transportation have already unveiled broad plans for the new bridge, announcing the names of five possible contractors, and urging that it be open in record time, by the end of next year.

But R.T. Rybak, a Democrat who is mayor of Minneapolis; some Democratic leaders in the State Legislature; and members of the Minneapolis City Council have been loudly critical, questioning the need -- and safety, given everything -- and rushing to build a bridge.

It's true, Pawlenty opposed raising the gas tax and state legislators overrode his veto to increase it 8.5 cents a gallon. But with state finance officials predicting a $2 billion surplus earlier that fiscal year, Pawlenty's opposition to bilking taxpayers further was hardly outlandish.

The cause of the bridge collapse? Not lack of funding for maintenance as liberals were quick to allege, but a design flaw, according to a National Transportation Safety Board investigation. A rebuilt span opened in September 2008, three months ahead of schedule.

Schultz and his radio producer declined to respond to a half-dozen emails over the last two days asking Schultz to back up his claim about Pawlenty, which appears to fall under the heading of "anything." Read the rest at NewsBusters:

Hey ... Schultz ... you really proved your point there didn't you. I only wish stupidity were painful. That's the thing with libs. They lie and cheat and steal and they do so without consequence. I guess that's the price we pay for a free press.

Oh well, an honest and forthright person would see his mistake and apologize so I'll assume we'll hear an apology from flatulence boy in the near future, right?

This dipshit is all over NPR, CNN, and MSNBC. No wonder those stations have low ratings.

Lefty newspapers going broke - SWEET!

Wanna see a graph of the "objective newspapers" going in the toilet? Yeah ... I did too. Click the link for The Awl. Be sure to scroll DOWN!

It's funny how it's the lefty papers going broke .... but the Wall Street Journal seems to be doing just fine. What a shame. The funny part is ... nobody at the lefty papers makes the connection.

Even the "cartoonist" missed it ... he thinks it's the "whole industry" ... cuz no way it could be just mostly lefties.

Found it at HotAir.

Adios, jackass

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The mastermind of the 2002 Washington, DC-area sniper attacks will die by lethal injection next month, Virginia officials said Tuesday.

John Allen Muhammad declined to choose between lethal injection and electrocution, so under state law the method defaults to lethal injection, Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said.

Muhammad is scheduled to be executed Nov. 10 for the October 2002 slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas gas station during a string of shootings.

The three-week killing spree in October 2002 left 10 dead in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Muhammad's lawyers have asked the Virginia governor for clemency and plan to file an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court early next month. More here:

Ha ha, asking for clemency. You know what I love? I love when mass murderers beg for their lives after they've been caught and convicted. Seriously, it's one of my favorite things. I only wish we could torture them for a while before we offed them ... then THAT would be my favorite thing.

Government ... TO THE RESCUE !!

People will need to turn vegetarian if the world is to conquer climate change, according to a leading authority on global warming.

In an interview with The Times, Lord Stern of Brentford said: “Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.”

Lord Stern, the author of the influential 2006 Stern Review on the cost of tackling global warming, said that a successful deal at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December would lead to soaring costs for meat and other foods that generate large quantities of greenhouse gases.

He also issued a clear message to President Obama that he must attend the meeting in Copenhagen in person in order for an effective deal to be reached. US leadership, he said, was “desperately needed” to secure a deal. More here:
Ha ha - the libs are coming to pry the cheeseburger out of your greasy hands you fat disgusting jackass. Their religion simply doesn't allow it. That's the thing about libs ... you'll do as they tell you to do. Liberty? Not for you, buttcheese. Your liberty harms the planet, get it? Also, don't worry about the costs of "carbon labeling." It's free ... just like everything the libs do ... totally free. Anyway, you heard him, they can't have a "successful" conference in Copenhagen without Obama. I'm not sure why, but he said so, so it must be true. He also said "a successful deal at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December would lead to soaring costs for meat and other foods that generate large quantities of greenhouse gases."

The libs kill me ... they want you to drive a ridiculously expensive car that has water as its output. Water. Question: What's the largest "greenhouse gas?" Answer: Water vapor. Yes. It makes as much sense as ALL the crap that libs do ... they're geniuses.

We didn't mean "public option"

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - A government-sponsored "public option" for health care lives, though it may be more attractive to skeptics if it goes by a different moniker, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday.

In an appearance at a Florida senior center, the Democratic leader referred to the so-called public option as "the consumer option." Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., appeared by Pelosi's side and used the term "competitive option." More here:

Oh man, the libs crack me up. They change the language hoping to fool you. They do it all the time. They give things names that are the EXACT FUCKING OPPOSITE of what they really are. It's obvious that libs think Americans are idiots ... and they're half right, they actually manage to fool about half the people.

This guy is an idiot

From FOX News:

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan said the H1N1 flu vaccine was developed to kill people, UPI reported.

"The Earth can't take 6.5 billion people. We just can't feed that many. So what are you going to do? Kill as many as you can," Farrakhan reportedly said during an event in Memphis, Tenn. "We have to develop a science that kills them and makes it look as though they died from some disease."

The 76-year-old added that many wise people won't take the vaccine, according to UPI.

His comments were made during an event to observe the group's Holy Day of Atonement, and also marked the 14th anniversary of the Million Man March in Washington.

(I guess he thinks he is one of the wise ones)

Keep working slaves, we need more money

The White House Friday highlighted a new multi-million-dollar technology fund for Muslim nations, following a pledge made by President Barack Obama in his landmark speech to the Islamic world.

The White House said the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) had issued a call for proposals for the fund, which will provide financing of between 25 and 150 million dollars for selected projects and funds.

The Global Technology and Innovation Fund will "catalyze and facilitate private sector investments" throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa, the White House said in a statement. More here:

Yes, please continue throwing my money in the toilet. Please ... PLEASE ... continue to squander with abandon. It's just a drop in the bucket, right? No big deal. My life and money is not my own ... I work for the pleasure of the government ... how DARE I question the government's use of my money.

Fox News must be punished

I found this at the Ace Of Spades Blog: They didn't include the above pic but I found it and thought it would go good with the post. I'm telling you, I LOVE the way libs hate Fox News. I LOVE TO HEAR THEM WHINE ABOUT IT. "WAAAAHH - SOMEONE IS PRESENTING ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW --- WAAAAAHHH.

While Obama is busy feeding his lap dogs their talking points, his press operation is trying to exclude a news organization that isn't drinking the Kool Aid.

I can't find anything online yet (video now below the fold) but Fox is reporting on Special Report that the White House wanted to exclude Fox from the 5 member White House Pool who were going to be given access to Kenneth Feinberg.

The White House Pool, of which Fox has been a member since 1997, is a consortium of the five networks which fund its operations.

After the White House attempted to exclude Fox, the Washington bureau chiefs of the 5 networks met and announced none of them would participate if Fox were excluded.

It's amazing we are in the position we are. We have a President who is more interested in talking to murders around the world but is afraid to face a reporter who isn't enthralled with the crease of his pants.

Also, I heard this one liner recently.

Obama says "We must defeat the enemy ... utterly and completely ... I have decided to send 40,000 troops ... to defeat Fox News."

Sheriff Joe - Testing the libs

(A/P) SURPRISE, Ariz. — An Arizona sheriff known for cracking down on people who are in the country illegally launched a crime and immigration sweep in northwestern metro Phoenix on Friday, a half day after officials in Washington limited his powers to make federal immigration arrests.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose sweeps have led to allegations of racial profiling, said the rebuff from Washington won't stop him. He said he can still arrest immigrants under a state smuggling law and a federal law that gives all local police agencies more limited power to detain suspected illegal immigrants.

"It doesn't bother me, because we are going to do the same thing," said Arpaio, whose deputies had arrested 16 people by Friday evening on unspecified charges. "I am the elected sheriff. I don't take orders from the federal government." More here:

LMAO -- You tell 'em Joe. I wonder how long it's going to take them to find some trumped-up charge and put you in jail. I'll be surprised it it's longer than six months ... you know ... since the libs are so "tolerant and peace/liberty loving."

Pieces of shit in Congress

Senators diverted $2.6 billion in funds in a defense spending bill to pet projects largely at the expense of accounts that pay for fuel, ammunition and training for U.S. troops, including those fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to an analysis.

Among the 778 such projects, known as earmarks, packed into the bill: $25 million for a new World War II museum at the University of New Orleans and $20 million to launch an educational institute named after the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat. More here:

2.6 billion? Ahhh, just a "drop in the bucket," right jackasses? We have a surplus of tax money, right asshats? 20 million dollars to "launch" an educational institute? Un-fucking-believable. Everything is a "drop in the bucket" to these fuckwits.

These people make me puke. No wonder Congress has an 11% approval rating. Hee haw -- Hee Haw.

Man after Obama's heart

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has said he seized the landmark Hilton hotel on Margarita Island because its owners dared to impose conditions on its use by his government to host a summit there last month.

"To hold the conference we had to ask for permission... and the owners tried to impose conditions on the revolutionary government. No way," said Chavez.

"So I said, 'Let's expropriate it.' And now it's been expropriated."

The acquisition by force of the real estate, furnishings, and related assets... of the Margarita Hilton & Suites Hotel Complex, along with the Marina owned by Inversiones Pueblamar y Desarrollos MBK, have been ordered," read a presidential decree in the official register.

In the past four years, Venezuela has implemented the nationalization of what is sees as strategic industries, including electric utilities, cement, steel, oil services and banking. More here:

Yes ... anyone else want to invest money in Venezuela? I wonder how he's doing with the economy.

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) -- Venezuela's consumer prices rose 2.5 percent in September, the highest monthly level this year, underlining the challenge President Hugo Chavez faces in taming one of the world's highest inflation rates.

With August inflation at 2.2 percent, September's was the third successive monthly rate over 2.0 percent, led by food and education costs. The OPEC member is forecasting 26 percent inflation for 2009, below last year's level of 31 percent. More here:

D'OH - who could have predicted that? I mean, everybody thinks he's doing everything perfectly ... you know ... unless you ask a historian or an economist.

Hey, Venezuela ... don't worry ... he only wants to be Dictator President for life. How long can that be? ... another 40 years, tops.

This is what I love about lefties ... they don't mind throwing your entire life away while they make another failed attempt to bring about Utopia. Hey, majority rules, right? Lefties burn another witch

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been dropped from a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was to be a limited partner in a bid led by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts, but Checketts said in a statement Wednesday that Limbaugh's participation had complicated the effort. The group will move forward without him.

Checketts said he will have no further comment on the bid process. Limbaugh did not immediately respond to an e-mail sent late Wednesday seeking comment on Checketts' decision.

Limbaugh said on his radio show earlier Wednesday that he had been inundated with e-mails from listeners who supported him in the bid.

"This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me," Limbaugh said. "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative.

"Therefore, this is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we're going to have."

Limbaugh's bid ran into opposition from within the image-conscious NFL on Tuesday when Colts owner Jim Irsay said he would vote against the radio personality. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the commentator's "divisive" comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insider. That's right ... no witches divisive peeps allowed in the NFL. That's why they immediately fire any player or owner or manager who makes a witchy divisive comment ... right?

The league tries to avoid getting snared in controversial issues outside sports, which has caused Limbaugh trouble in the past. In 2003, he was forced to resign from ESPN's Sunday night football broadcast after saying of Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb: "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well." More here:
Thou shalt speaketh NOT the truth divisiveness.
"Divisive:" anything that disagrees with us.

Simple truths evade Democrats/Liberals

Steve Wynn

Excerpts from the Rush Limbaugh show. Rush is playing audio excerpts from a Fox News interview with Steve Wynn, the CEO of Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas. His company has more than 20,000 employees. (Bold is mine.)

RUSH: ... That's what I have been saying. That's what anybody with even a modicum of Econ 101 understands. You have to invest and you have to create the investment. You have to incentivize growth, and this administration is penalizing it! This administration is punishing growth. This administration is doing everything it can to prevent growth. This is all done on purpose. And now, my friends, I finally am joined in my previous one-man crusade: Steve Wynn on board, Charles Krauthammer with a speech he gave on board saying the decline is purposeful. Chris Wallace said, "So where do you draw the line between the proper role of government in all this and the proper role of the private sector?"

WYNN: Government has never increased the standard of living of one single human being in civilization's history. For some reason that simple truth has evaded everybody. The only thing that creates an increased standard of living is giving someone a job, the demand for their labor -- whether it's you and I, Chris, or anybody else. The people that are paying the price for this juggernaut of federal spending are the middle class and the working class of America.

RUSH: Right.

WYNN: And soaring rhetoric and great speeches with or without a teleprompter aren't going to change the truth, and the truth is: The biggest enemy, the biggest obstacle that working middle-class America has is government spending. The rest here:

You know ... more and more I am being forced to believe that Obama & the Democrats ARE crushing America and its economy on purpose. You either have to think they are stupid or they're doing it on purpose ... and I don't think they're stupid at all. I think they're ideologues that have grown to hate America and capitalism. They blame the free market instead of government and its constant interference in the free market and they have, as they're objectives, the destruction of the free market and to massively increase the growth of government/bureaucracy.

By the way, that's a great article -- only one page. In it you read about the Governor of Michigan telling Steve Wynn that he's "simplistic." Got that? The Governor of Michigan? ... lecturing ANYONE about economics?

Rush has a reminder for those with amnesia.
In her two terms of governor, which will expire next year, I believe, the state of Michigan has lost 630,000 jobs. In the next 14 months it is expected that the state of Michigan will lose another 370,000 jobs for a grand total of one million jobs lost under Jennifer Granholm's governorship.

... Steve Wynn, multibillion-dollar enterprise, hires tens of thousands of people, could hire more and would love to be able to hire more, but because of government tax-and-spend policies, he can't. And on the other side, a failed governor, who's telling him that he's simplistic.

I might also add, the Fair Tax would be the single most critical thing America could do to send demand for jobs through the roof ... because every corporation with a mission statement would fight to move to America. Those corporations would need workers. When employers are fighting for employees, wages go up, working conditions are better, on and on and on.

Just a thought

How long will it be before we start seeing people wearing their swine flu like a badge of honor and bragging about it?

"Oh, I just need to get over this darn swine flu."
"The doc says I have the swine flu -- it's the worst I've ever felt."
"Did I mention I had the swine flu last week? It really kicked my ass."

Prepare yourselves. It's gonna be all I can do to keep from smacking some jackasses in the brain. Of course, I pretty much live my life in that condition anyway.

Another Great Depression?

By Thomas Palley at the Economist's Forum

Thomas Palley is former chief economist of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission and is currently Schwartz Economic Growth Fellow at the New America Foundation

Over the past year the global economy has experienced a massive contraction, the deepest since the Great Depression of the 1930s. But this spring, economists started talking of “green shoots” of recovery and that optimistic assessment quickly spread to Wall Street. More recently, on the anniversary of the Lehman Brothers crash, Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve chairman, officially blessed this consensus by declaring the recession is “very likely over”.

The future is fundamentally uncertain, which always makes prediction a rash enterprise. That said there is a good chance the new consensus is wrong. Instead, there are solid grounds for believing the US economy will experience a second dip followed by extended stagnation that will qualify as the second Great Depression. Some indications to this effect are already rolling in with unexpectedly large US job losses in September and the crash in US automobile sales following the end of the “cash-for-clunkers” programme.

I don't do this too often but I'm going to recommend you read this entire article ... it's relatively short. It will show you (in mostly plain English) why the worst has not yet begun. The rest is here.

Tort Reform - wouldn't it be sweet?

Excerpts from an article by Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

Lost in the shuffle of the CBO scoring of Max Baucus’ non-existent bill on the health care overhaul system this week is another analysis by the CBO on tort reform. According to CBO director Douglas Elmendorf on his blog, the CBO studied the impact of both the reduced cost of litigation and the elimination of defensive medicine that would result with tort reform. Elmendorf says that tort reform would reduce the federal deficit $54 billion over the next ten years ...

But that’s not the end of the savings, either. A 0.5% reduction in health-care costs would mean $11 billion in savings per year overall, with roughly 40% of that benefiting the federal government in Medicare and other federal program costs. That amounts to a whopping $110 billion in cost savings over ten years to the entire medical industry, which would help keep premiums in check for consumers.

Unlike other mechanisms in the various Congressional plans, this would actually benefit consumers and accomplish what reformers claim to want — an end to overuse in the American system. By eliminating the defensive medicine that providers must practice to avoid predatory malpractice actions, tort reform will actually make the system more responsive and more flexible for patients. Less time will get wasted, fewer claims will get filed, and patients will get the care they need and not what the providers’ lawyers require.

Of course, tort reform isn’t in any of the packages Congress has under consideration for the coming health-care overhaul. Instead, Congress wants to play class warfare with “fees”, excise taxes, “windfall profits taxes” on an industry averaging a 3.3% profit margin while trial lawyers earn an average 14% profit margin — all of which will result in those costs getting passed to the consumer, making health care even more expensive than it is now. Why won’t Congress pass tort reform, an effort that would really reduce costs and reform the health-care system?

Have you noticed how the Obama administration CONTINUOUSLY ignores the findings of the Congressional Budget Office?

I'm going to tell you all you need to know about tort reform in one sentence ... ready?

The media and Democrats/liberals HATE the idea.

The Simpsons - Moe's bar

Imaginary patrons of Jersey City’s Tube Bar paged by owner Louis “Red” Deutsch at the request of telephone pranksters John Elmo and Jim Davidson in the mid-1970s:
  • Al Coholic
  • Al Kaseltzer
  • Al Kykyoras
  • Ben Dover
  • Butchie Pantsdown
  • Frank Enstein
  • Holden McGroin
  • Imov Irgin
  • Jim Nasium
  • Joe Mama
  • Mike Ocksmall
  • Moe Ronn
  • Oliver Closeoff
  • Rufus Leakin

Elmo and Davidson recorded Deutsch’s earnest pages and the wild, vituperative threats that followed when he realized he’d been had. In the 1980s the tapes began to circulate among professional sports leagues and eventually found their way to animator Matt Groening … who turned them into a running gag on The Simpsons.

From Futility Closet:

Obama loses a Nobel prize

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- In a decision as shocking as Friday's surprise peace prize win, President Obama failed to win the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences Monday.

While few observers think Obama has done anything for world peace in the nearly nine months he's been in office, the same clearly can't be said for economics.

The president has worked tirelessly since even before his inauguration to wrest control of the U.S. economy from failed free markets, and the evil CEOs who profit from them, and to turn it over to wise, fair and benevolent bureaucrats.

From his $787 billion stimulus package, to the cap-and-trade bill, to the seizures of General Motors and Chrysler, to the undead health-care "reform" act, Obama has dominated the U.S., and therefore the global, economy as few figures have in recent years.

Other surprise losers include celebrity noneconomist and filmmaker Michael Moore; U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner; and Larry Summers, head of the U.S. national economic council. More at MarketWatch:

Debating liberals = Debating Manson

Excerpts from an article by Leigh Scott at Big Hollywood:

Charles Manson - Whackjob Extraordinaire

They do not know their kiesters from a hole in the ground. They are a few fries short of a happy meal and a few cards short of a full deck. Their phasers are permanently set on “clueless.”

For an actual debate, two things are needed. One, there must be a logical and factual distinction between two separate positions. Two, there must be equally matched participants, each one prepared and versed enough to intelligently present their side of the issue.

We don’t have that. We have one group of people who live in a fantasy world, full of twisted facts, backwards logic and wishful thinking. You can’t debate that. There is no factual, honest, or logical way to support their positions. It’s like arguing the best way to take a cross-country trip with a delusional Dungeons and Dragons geek. You want to reroute to avoid traffic on the I-10. He wants to “avoid the realm of the Bugbears.”

The other side of the “debate” isn’t operating in the same reality. They do not operate in reality at all.

Imagine, if you will, a group of people who state that clouds are made of cotton candy. Children love cotton candy. In the sky, there is an unending supply of the sticky treat. To harvest the cotton candy, we must spend billions of taxpayer dollars to create machines that pluck the confection from the heavens. We must do this for the children.

“Ludicrous” states half of the population. Clearly, clouds are not made of cotton candy. In fact, we know exactly what clouds are made of. We also know the exact ingredients in cotton candy. The two are completely unrelated. Recipes and scientific data are presented to prove the case. To build a machine to collect non-existent cotton candy is a waste of money and resources.

The cotton candy cloud advocates respond. Anybody who claims that clouds are made of water vapor must want to hoard the cotton candy. They must benefit from the sales of cotton candy. Having free cotton candy would destroy their merciless pursuit of profits.

Oh, and obviously, they hate children and are probably racist.

This is what we are dealing with.

I wonder

I wonder who paid for this bus.

I wonder who is paying for all the gas and staff and accoutrements required to keep it moving.

I wonder if it's costing me any money.

I wonder who is behind it.

I wonder why it's necessary.

I wonder why idiots vote for liberals.

Some good shots

Adios, dipshit

Excerpts from this article:

Nevadans say they're ready to replace longtime Democratic incumbent Sen. Harry Reid with an untested Republican.

Which Republican? Undecided.

Though respondents can't decide whom they want to win the Republican primary, they're certain they don't support Reid, the Senate majority leader seeking his fifth consecutive six-year term.

"That is the bad news," UNLV political science professor David Damore said of Reid's Clark County numbers. "That tells you there is a disaffected base there."

No, "professor," that is not the "bad news," that is the GOOD news ... got me? You leftist jackass.

Heres more good news Harry, after you get booted from the Senate, you can go back to your land scams.

Gaaa ... here comes global cooling ... again

You know how the earth has been cooling lately? You know ... just like the cycles the earth has endured, lo these millions of years? You'd think that would make the global-warming-idiots STFU due to abject humiliation ... but you'd be wrong ... wrong is, bru.

They've figured out what has been causing the cooling ... you'll never guess what it is. Lucky for you, the Klown is on the job ... working hard to bring you the info you'll never see in the media.
(Bold is mine)

White House science czar John Holdren has predicted 1 billion people will die in "carbon-dioxide induced famines" in a coming new ice age by 2020.

As WND previously reported, Holdren predicted in a 1971 textbook co-authored with Malthusian population alarmist Paul Ehrlich that global over-population was heading the Earth to a new ice age unless the government mandated urgent measures to control population, including the possibility of involuntary birth control

measures such as forced sterilization.

Holdren's prediction that 1 billion people would die from a global cooling "eco-disaster" was announced in Ehrlich's 1986 book "The Machinery of Nature."

Holdren based his prediction on a theory that human emissions of carbon dioxide would produce a climate catastrophe in which global warming would cause global cooling with a consequent reduction in agricultural production resulting in widespread disaster. The rest of the comedy here:

Now see ... this is why I'll never be a big cheese in the government ... cuz right away, I'd determine that this Holdren guy is a fucking idiot and I wouldn't let him anywhere NEAR the public treasury and your tax money, much less appoint him to a White House level position. Seriously ... and I'm so hard-headed NOBODY would be able to talk me into it. I guess I'm not "open-minded" like the liberals. Tsk, tsk, such a shame, no?

As an example to you, here is how "brain-dead open-minded liberals" deal with controversy:

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?
If George W.. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?
If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?
If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had the audacity to be the first U.S. President to take the chairmanship of the powerful U.N. Security Council instead of the gavel being passed to U.S. ambassador to the UN Susan Rice, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 5 months -- so you'll have three years and seven months to come up with an answer.

Well would you?

Massive Behemoth Government

I found this post at the Ace of Spades blog.

Okay I don't claim to be an economist but this chart seems rather disturbing. I found it in this article by Adam Sharpe of Seeking Alpha. It shows government spending as a percentage of GDP over the last 107 years. (You can make your own chart here.) And here government spending includes federal, state and local spending as well as government transfers.

Now maybe GDP isn't the right comparison variable to use for this but it seems like a reasonable place to start. And apart from peaks during WWI and WWII the trend is unmistakable. I didn't bother running a regression but by my eye-ball extrapolation it looks like we go to a government-run economy with some free enterprise around the year 2025.

Well at least we'll have high literacy rates, free medical care, and social harmony. Just like Cuba.

Yes -- annoying

The Great Obama !!

They'll give this thing to anyone...except Wombat

For only the third time in history a sitting President has won the Nobel Peace Prize. First was Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, Second was Woodrow Wilson in 1919 and now President Obama has won the prestigious award.

Obama was awoken by Press Secretary Robert Gibbs around 6 a.m., informing him of the award. The President, after lifting his chin from the floor, said he was humbled. As for the rest of the White House, along with the country, it was more surprising than humbling.

The Nobel Committee said he won because of his "Extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples", citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.

The award only furthers the idea that Obama is a God. I mean only a God could have impressed the Nobel CMTE, with his prowess on the international stage, in just 12 days. That's right the application deadline for the award was just 12 days into his Presidency. As far as I can remember the only thing he did in his first 12 days was sign legislation to close Gitmo and last I saw it was still open. And other than the possibility of having a background in the Muslim religion and bowing to the Saudis, he hasn't done anything else that could warrant the award.

Reports are that this is just a slap in the face of former President Bush. Many, if not all, on the CMTE are very left wing. In fact a former President and Vice President, Jimmy Carter and Al Gore, were given the award while Bush was in office. The Cmte were not fans of Bush and his policies. I think Former Peace Prize Laurette Lech Wałęsa, union leader of solidarity in Poland, said it best with "Too soon, he hasn't accomplished anything."

Brain-dead liberals

So this guy, David Mamet, is a playwright. He wrote an article entitled "Why I am no longer a brain-dead liberal." I have excerpted some here. (Bold is mine.)

I took the liberal view for many decades, but I believe I have changed my mind.

As a child of the '60s, I accepted as an article of faith that government is corrupt, that business is exploitative, and that people are generally good at heart.

These cherished precepts had, over the years, become ingrained as increasingly impracticable prejudices. Why do I say impracticable? Because although I still held these beliefs, I no longer applied them in my life. How do I know? My wife informed me. We were riding along and listening to NPR. I felt my facial muscles tightening, and the words beginning to form in my mind: Shut the fuck up. "?" she prompted. And her terse, elegant summation, as always, awakened me to a deeper truth: I had been listening to NPR and reading various organs of national opinion for years, wonder and rage contending for pride of place. Further: I found I had been—rather charmingly, I thought—referring to myself for years as "a brain-dead liberal," and to NPR as "National Palestinian Radio."

This is, to me, the synthesis of this worldview with which I now found myself disenchanted: that everything is always wrong.

But in my life, a brief review revealed, everything was not always wrong, and neither was nor is always wrong in the community in which I live, or in my country. Further, it was not always wrong in previous communities in which I lived, and among the various and mobile classes of which I was at various times a part.

And, I wondered, how could I have spent decades thinking that I thought everything was always wrong at the same time that I thought I thought that people were basically good at heart? Which was it? I began to question what I actually thought and found that I do not think that people are basically good at heart; indeed, that view of human nature has both prompted and informed my writing for the last 40 years. I think that people, in circumstances of stress, can behave like swine, and that this, indeed, is not only a fit subject, but the only subject, of drama.

I'd observed that lust, greed, envy, sloth, and their pals are giving the world a good run for its money, but that nonetheless, people in general seem to get from day to day; and that we in the United States get from day to day under rather wonderful and privileged circumstances—that we are not and never have been the villains that some of the world and some of our citizens make us out to be, but that we are a confection of normal (greedy, lustful, duplicitous, corrupt, inspired—in short, human) individuals living under a spectacularly effective compact called the Constitution, and lucky to get it.

For the Constitution, rather than suggesting that all behave in a godlike manner, recognizes that, to the contrary, people are swine and will take any opportunity to subvert any agreement in order to pursue what they consider to be their proper interests.

To that end, the Constitution separates the power of the state into those three branches which are for most of us (I include myself) the only thing we remember from 12 years of schooling.

The Constitution, written by men with some experience of actual government, assumes that the chief executive will work to be king, the Parliament will scheme to sell off the silverware, and the judiciary will consider itself Olympian and do everything it can to much improve (destroy) the work of the other two branches. So the Constitution pits them against each other, in the attempt not to achieve stasis, but rather to allow for the constant corrections necessary to prevent one branch from getting too much power for too long.

Rather brilliant. For, in the abstract, we may envision an Olympian perfection of perfect beings in Washington doing the business of their employers, the people, but any of us who has ever been at a zoning meeting with our property at stake is aware of the urge to cut through all the pernicious bullshit and go straight to firearms. The rest here:

I found this article because I was reading on this page by a guy who keeps track of these types of things in the entertainment world ... a sort of "critic's critic" if you will. Anyway, what I got from the "critic's" article is that David Mamet is doomed. He used to be critically acclaimed as a genius and has written many plays but now that he's "outed" himself, all the play critics will hammer him relentlessly.

The Federal Government Is ON THE JOB!!

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has stripped Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio of his authority to arrest suspected illegal immigrants based solely on their immigration status. More here:

WOW! Well done, Janet Napolitano & "Homeland Security!!" After all, we don't want sheriffs going around arresting illegal aliens, right? Fucking idiots. How in the hell do these people get elected/appointed? I ask you. It's as if they go out of their way to do the exact opposite of what they SHOULD do. Keep voting for liberals, dumbasses. How you likin' your employment opportunities now? You know what you need? You need more illegal aliens snagging jobs.

Mojave Desert cross & the Supreme Court

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeuBB_mOFIA

This first came to my attention in the Sep issue of the American Legion mag. I read the article and looked at the video that the Legion put out. ( I think the Legion video is more informative but it is longer, you can view it at http://www.legion.org/)
As you will see in the video the ACLU, picked this place in the middle of nowhere thinking no one would bother about making a big ado about it, but as you will learn it did make a big ado and is now going before the Supreme Court 7 oct 09. This would be a big foot in the door for the ACLU, to no doubt start removing all crosses from State & Fed grounds.
